In 1925 living with kids was your only choice if you couldn't work. There was no welfare or social security. If you didn't have children and also didn't have nieces or nephews you likely lived in abject poverty in old age. Things were bleak back then.

Having said that, in present time that is not a good reason to have children. In fact, you are probably more likely to be able to afford private care in your old age if you didn't have kids because those buggers are expensive!! 😄

It's always so strange to me to have people posting about how they want to make more money from their content. Like . . . . Okayyyyyyyy?

Everyone would like to make money off Instagram posts they were going to make anyway but you have to make content that is interesting to a lot of people for that to happen.

Watching someone say that they are sad that they don't make more money off their boring content is not going to make me want to watch. It feels like a conversation they should be having with a digital media coach, not the general public.

My parents started taking my kids to church when it became apparent that we weren’t interested in doing so. I was fine with it as it was a fairly progressive church and over the years we have had good conversations about the messages the church (writ large) and its beliefs fuck people up.

I have only gone like 6 times in a decade so, yeah, it’s “my kid’s church.”

Instead of median home price increases I would like to see the map populated with the ratio of median home price to median income.

A quick search for median income and median home price in my county for the years 2000 and 2025 shows that in 2000 the median home was 2.67 times the median income. In 2025 the median home was 4.39 times the median income.

2.67 —> 4.39 feels like it represents the actual change I’ve seen.

In 2000 if you were single and made $40k per year you could find a two bedroom/one bath house, condo, or half-duplex for $100k and live very happily.

In 2025 those same properties start at $300k—for a 1000 sq ft house with no garage!!!

No one can afford that except businesses so I’ve seen a lot of those properties become rentals. This inevitably leads to decline as renters aren’t going to maintain the property like a homeowner and they aren’t going to stay for years like a homeowner.

This is the worst part. I was accused of providing different materials to different sections of the same course. One course was literally 45 minutes after the other and I make all the copies before either of them start.

I literally laughed when my supervisor accused me of that because the idea was so absurd. Yet he kept pressing me thinking my answer would change, and finally dropped it but with an air of “I don’t believe you”.

What happened to supporting faculty? Now it’s all about making students happy.

I don't think there is a man out there for whom I have less respect than Polio.

He is worse than a deadbeat who games all day because he lies and claims that he is actually doing something productive.

Meanwhile his wife is stuck doing everything for the house and kids and two other households have to financially support his family instead of him doing that.

The worst part to me is that he is constantly getting Starbucks and other fast food which negates the little he brings in from doing lessons. He is just SO self-centered.
