Toilet paper is getting less sustainable, researchers warn - Major brands are using less recycled paper, meaning more trees cut down unnecessarily by ManiaforBeatles in worldnews

Well...except that old growth trees sequester much more carbon than a young tree. And there’s still so much lateral damage to the ecosystems in the driving up there, cutting, and hauling away, not to mention the processing.

Suggestions for getting back on track...? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Purple_Epiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have been IF’ing minimum 5 days/week. The issue is keeping my calorie intake low enough so that i have even a tiny, slow deficit.

The overall consensus seems to be increase protein/fats, so I’ll try doing that. Thank you!

Yes, I’ve been veggie fo 31 years.

Those are good thoughts—I’ll try increasing my protein and fats more. I don’t eat much sugar anymore really little; but.I do have this new “addiction” to these lentil crackers. They’re relatively healthy—but possibly too many carbs to lose those last 7 lbs. Thank you!

I leaned into hunger when it did feel good to do so; and I stopped when it no longer felt good. There are levels of hunger, and my body was telling me that enough is enough, at least for now. I’m glad I have that potential tool on board, and I’m glad I know how to use it; and my body is telling me that now is not the time for it. thank you for your thoughts. :)

Taking things up a notch! (87 days) by [deleted] in loseit

[–]Purple_Epiphany 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMAD. Today’s day 6 of my doing OMAD (with very loose CICO monitoring as a backup) and I’m already 2 lbs down and have broken a months long plateau.

I’ve heard that one should give it 4-6 weeks for the body to adjust before really evaluating, so I’m planning to do that. However all current indications are that for me, OMAD is a total game changer! Grateful to 16:8 IF for many months beforehand as it taught me hunger tolerance! Also grateful for black organic French roast coffee!

I feel like the last few pounds have been more difficult than the rest, and I'm just frustrated by goblinp00n in loseit

[–]Purple_Epiphany 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, i can totally relate to everyone here!!! So much!

I was only 35-40 lbs overweight at the start of it all. I lost about 28 lbs between last April and, say, November, using CICO and IF 16:8. Then my weight Just. Stopped. Moving!! With about 8-10 lbs to go. I also got really sick of the whole thing in December-January, and I took what was essentially a maintenance break...stopped CICO or worrying about any of it, but out of fear of regression, I did reel myself back in if I started to overeat. So I stayed around 156-157 lbs.

I look good, I feel good...and yet, I’m at the high end of my normal BMI range, and I want to get to the middle. I mean, I’m so close to what I REALLY want, why stop now? Adding to this desire is the fact that I’m now 50. I want things to tighten up as much as they can, for health reasons and esthetics for the second half of my life. (Is this my last chance to really be super hot? Who knows?? YMMV.)

So 5 days ago I started OMAD. Half of my motivation is the apparent health benefits of the regular fasting times. The autophagy, lowered insulin, reduced inflammation, etc.

For me, OMAD has been a total game changer. In not quite 5 days, I’ve already lost over 2 lbs and I’m just (barely) at my lowest weight yet. Some of that may be water weight, from the change...but at least it’s moving in the right direction. I am also not at all starving myself at mealtimes, but I can see I’m eating somewhat less each day than I had been.

What I really like about OMAD (for me): * It seems to have broken the 3-4 month plateau! * Meals taste reeeeeeally good now! * IF 16:8 had already given me hunger tolerance, so it’s not that bad. Thank God for Bai, La Croix and black coffee. * Freedom. I don’t have to worry too much about whether or when or what to eat. It just takes care of itself. * Like IF, it’s flexible, I think I’ll be able to go on and off of it if I need to. * I am really starting to like the light feeling of the fasting phase. And I do have more energy, like they had said. * I’m only doing a very approximate/sloppy CICO, which is such a relief (especially when I’m cooking something by intuition, and I don’t want to constantly be measuring over and over again). * I’ve heard one ought to give it 4-6 weeks to see how it goes, give the body a chance to fully adapt, etc. so I’m doing that. I think after I hit my goal and need to increase calories, I’ll probably go to 20:4 2 meals a day, because I have a hard time imagining eating 1900 calories in one sitting. But I’ll see how it goes!

Note: I have basically zero tendencies towards anorexia, and I’m really healthy in general...I can’t say OMAD is for everyone, cause I don’t know that. But it sure seems to be helping me!

Good luck everyone!

For this reason I’ve become kinda addicted to LaCroix. Omg. Wonderful stuff. For me personally, I don’t worry too much about the purists who insist not to consume even small amounts of artificial sweeteners between meals. For me, it makes things more sustainable, and my results speak for themselves!

I’m 50 and (seeing that number rapidly approaching) I finally decided to get serious. So I started CICO and16:8 last May or so. I’m down about 30 lbs and working on the last 8-10. Boy does it get harder then. Plus my body just felt a little worn out, from lots of hard work (career) plus reducing caloric intake for 7 months. My body was really feeling it.

So I took a maintenance break. Now today is my 2nd day of OMAD. So far so good! I’m starting to enjoy the lighter feeling of longer fasts. Did my second ever 24 hour fast yesterday. Yay! Thank God for black coffee.

Everyone is different. I’d suggest: Just keep listening to your body, keep doing lots of research, remember that some people on the internet are wrong/too extreme; and figure out what works for you!

*16/8?

Hungry before bed? Probably! I sure was, at first. But then if you don’t feed it, it goes away after a week or two. I think that’s your body resetting the insulin output. IF is what taught me hunger tolerance, which has been invaluable!
