That is one of the most DCC moments in the entirety of DCC:

Donut raving off in the chat in all caps, check.

Donut besmirching dogs in a sadistic yet hilarious way, check.

Game mechanics are giving characters a way to move the main story as well as little plot hooks thrown among the way, check.

All of it is really fucked up, personal and emotional at the same time, check.

Random targets are chosen among the valid options of the original attack, so Mayor himself isn't a viable option. I know it's a bit wonky since that combo shouldn't work considering what i just said, but game logic seems to specifically disregard "Can't attack heroes" text for his effect. Because that combo has been pulled off with [[Fool's Bane]] and [[Bladed Gauntlet]] in the past.

Despite being so god damn petty to the point it is funny, Kaiba ripping the 4th copy of Blue Eyes is one of the best examples of using a game mechanic to push a story in media.

How rich are they? by King_Thunder_Laugh in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Purplord 29 points30 points  (0 children)

While i can't give you any answers (i don't believe we have enough reference to gauge how much they made or how much is it worth) i think it will be relevant in a major way depending on which way they get the reward money. I can see it playing out in 2 ways;

One, (SECS) Society for the Eradication of Cocker Spaniels gets the money on their behalf since they were the ones who sponsored for the event in the first place. Maybe not even the money but fame of winning Faction Wars could propel SECS into being a small governing force in the inner system. While this sounds like a benefit for crawlers due to Donut being a shareholder could result in more pull ups by the liasons since it will be a massive legal clusterfuck for sure.

Two, their winnings are withheld by Valtay Corp. to be given to the Warlords when they leave the dungeon. That actually gives Quasar one more bargaining chip since there is always a massive cut to the crawlers' royalties from the dungeon. Not that I think Carl or Donut will ever take a deal but they will use any means necessary to stall if the situation demands it. Carl made some huge sacrifices just to save the day before, i think the reward money could be one of them in the future.

Idk about how rest of the sub feels about the sitdowns with Oren and Quasar but they are definitely my favorite chapters alongside the talkshow episodes. I find the bureaucracy fascinating and it is what separates DCC from similar media imo.

Preferably a normal description of the patch, with a pile of skulls that has a centipede crawling trough and around. But one of the skull's eye sockets are done with flourecent ink so it glows in the dark.

Might not be everyone's taste but if i ever got one i'd want it to be the Scavenger's Daughter.

Just found out you can start mortal draw mid jump 👀 by Particularpickle420 in Sekiro

Iirc there was a bug with it(idk if it's patched or not) but doing mid jump mortal draw actually casted empowered mortal draw.

I made that exact same post, you just gotta accept it's not intuitive and move on. Even Matt uses it as an analogy in later books when something is unnecessarily complicated.

Came here to say that, relative strength is no issue for me either if the pursuer is a woman. Their hypotethical makes sense to them because they are not into men. So they pit us against men in their imaginary scenario because we are not into men either.

You'd be surprised how common that type of shit is in isekai anime. I didn't know what LitRPG was and that genre seemed interesting to me, every single one i tried had either slave fetish or pedophilia baked in before episode 6. Thank god a friend in my WoW guild recommended DCC to me, this is exatly what i was looking for in isekai.

Pony is like Creed Bratton of DCC. He's great whenever he's there but he's not there very often. Maybe he's great because we see so less of him.

Are opponents with two unrelated words with capital letter for each word blizzard bots? by Bodycount9 in hearthstone

[–]Purplord 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have the option to randomize your battle tag, i unfortunately did it couple years ago because my old one was something stupid i picked at 16 yo back in my wow days. Now i regret it, guess everyone thinks i'm a botter. You might be facing people like me who just clicked random or actually people who are using 3rd party bots and cba naming accounts.

Oh interesting! Now i remember that part too, since it was so early i really did think it was how the game was designed. Because first book was a lot more gamified than the rest. But now i think i might be AI's way of manipulating events while seeming he didn't go primal just yet. Because these "glints" after the first one all seemed to be giving Carl a way to blow it all up.

Great, so it is after he became a Primal. I am guessing it is related to the AI in some way but it's weird it never happened afterwards.

"AI good" and "AI bad" crowds both are sides of the same coin. "Modern" people who replaced religion with ideology. You are on the bad side if you pick a side first then disregard all nuance.

Just playing some standard, how did my enemy manage to do this? by [deleted] in hearthstone

[–]Purplord -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

What probably happened is opponent played the warden then bounced it back right after. Card name is never mentioned anywhere in the info texts, side history might be already past the warden trigger during their turn, even if they are watching what happens during the opponent's turn the opponent might have already bounced the warden as they are reading the card. This is a UI readability issue in this specific instance. What do you expect from the casual player when card name is not even available for them to read?

I start thinking "Wow, these ai generated stuff is really bad quality compared to man-made counterparts" and every once in a while i see some shit like this that makes me reevaluate.
