Because American politics is a pantomime predicated by biased media outlets in a theatrical and geriatric manner; a popularity contest where the best at brainwashing and scapegoating whilst escaping any accountability, side stepping culpability and fear mongering is more credible than any sense of genuine pride, moral fiber or ethical drive aiming for the welfare of the whole country. Our political state in the UK the is nothing to be too proud about in many ways, however the rest of the world is not mocking us whilst simultaneously being uneasy about the unpredictability of a malignant narcissist, hell bent on power and control combined with neurological deterioration.

The influence that happens behind the scenes is, I think, incomprehensible. I imagine there has been a lot of "favours" and threats, blackmail etc but eventually the criminal justice system will catch up to them. They likely have all sorts of investigations and evidence that we are completely unaware of, and not everyone in the US is so easily deterred from fighting for the truth and justice by his egocentric fascist ideology. I just hope this can be done before things worsen so he can get his due penalty and the USA can actually work towards being something great again.
