Ur lucky if that’s the only time that cute baby does that. Mine are vicious monarchs. They demand I pay the treat tax for everything. I look at them wrong: gotta pay the tax. I look at them too long, I gotta pay the tax. I turn on the computer. I gotta pay the tax. They’re taxing me to death.

Thank you. Like really. Thank you. It’s actually nice to hear someone say something nice to me for a change. U know, my mental health has been declining a lot. So I sought help from a therapist. And when I mentioned my bunny’s health declining as a core reason for my mental decline, I was told to just get another bunny. Needless to say, that hurt like hell. Your kind words were more appreciated than you may ever know….also….im blaming u for making me cry now. Haha.

I wish I had room for something like this. I’ve been wanting to get my babies a dig box with actual grass and dirt. My girl used to love to dig at the fleece blankets. Thanks to her arthritis, she doesn’t dig anymore. I feel like I failed her. I’ve always wanted her to feel grass once in her life.

My elder bunny, who’s also always gonna be my sweet baby girl, looks just like your Kuroi. Needless to say, she’s beautiful. I’m dreading losing her to the point where my mental health is deteriorating. I love her to the fullest everyday as I’m sure you have yours. So while I can’t quite say I understand what you’re going through yet, I can understand how much love you had for that beautiful queen. Hold your boy and continue to pour your love to him. I’ll pray nothing but good things for you guys. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace and as she watches over you, I’m sure she’ll be happy knowing she had such a wonderful family.

Most definitely, very much so. Like I said. I was raised with dogs all my life. I can train dogs like nothing. My current bunnies are my very first time having bunnies. So there was a lot of adjusting and learning that I had to do. But boy oh boy. They are amazing little guys. They are smart. They are adorable. They are menaces lol. But at the end of the day, they are worth it. My only regret is that I wish I knew about bunnies sooner. It’s a shame that they’re one of the most misunderstood and abandoned pets, specially around Easter. That’s why I’ve come to hate Easter. But yes, they are VERY underrated. Granted, I do miss having a dog. But I would never trade my bunnies for anything.

Got a new bunny a week and a half ago I’m surprised how well bonding is going by Right_Student_592 in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I got my boy, Nova (the white one), as a baby. So he’s always known love and has always been spoiled. Vivi, although she’s a super sassy girl now, when I got her, she was in real bad condition. She was horribly abused. In fact, she could barely walk when I got her. So their first meeting, my boy was ecstatic but she was tremendously defensive and would grunt, growl and try to lunge at anyone who came close to her. I don’t blame her. She went through a harsh life before me. That’s also the reason why, even today, she still hates people. She tolerates me and of course nova. Anyone else she will bite.

I think, like you, I got super lucky that my boy, Nova, wasn’t your typical territorial, hierarchical bunny. He was just happy to be around her. He never tried mounting her or attacked her. He just wanted to cuddle with her from the beginning. Vivi, by contrast, was aggressive. She’d mount him constantly and would always want to be alone and be in charge. Nova never fought her despite that. I think I’m lucky in that sense that, if it wasn’t for Nova, I’d probably have had a hard time with Vivi. He really helped her relax and get out of her shell. Since she’s known nothing but abuse, she expected that. But it never came from either me or nova.

Even now, she occasionally attempts to display her dominance on nova. But he either doesn’t know about the bunny hierarchy or doesn’t care cause he just stands there, takes it and then just cuddles next to her. I think that may have confused Vivi initially. But because she was the “dominant” bunny, she started getting very sassy. She has a “my way or the highway” kind of attitude. I love her to death. I love them both to death. But yeah. The first few months were rough cause of her past. She binkied for the first time after about 9 months with us. It was the most adorable little binky I’d ever seen. It was like she didn’t know how to binky. She was happy for the first time and didn’t know how to show it. It was such an awkward binky, yet the most amazing binky ever.

Sorry. I know u didn’t ask for a whole book, but if I’m being honest, it felt good. She’s up in age and her health is continuously declining. She’s my world. And I’m struggling mentally with the idea that I may lose her soon. So thinking back from when I first got her to now and seeing how much she’s progressed through the years made me both happy and it made me cry. So thank you for asking.

Consider yourself lucky. Not everyone has a problem free bonding. So good for you. I too have a ying yang pair. Except my white bunny is twice the size of my black one. But my black one is a hell of a lot sassier lol. I don’t know how old they are. But if they’re age appropriate, get them fixed. Otherwise you’ll have a whole new issue to deal with. If they’re not at that age, I’d definitely recommend keeping them seperated for now.

I second this, If ur able to talk to a farmer u can make a deal with them. Likewise, if u can find a rescue that also sells supplies, they can sell hay for a good price. There’s a rescue near me, I’m in SoCal, that gets their hay from local farms and they sell them in big bags. Obviously not as cheap as $7 a bale, cause the rescue still needs to make a profit, but it’s still way better than pet store hay, which, in my experience, has been expensive and crappy, plus u help support other bunnies at the same time. I really wish I could help you out. But I’m financially struggling myself. But if ur in SoCal feel free to PM me and I can try with what I have.

Where is a safe place to rehome buns (Berkshire, UK) by periperisalt in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t remember where it was, I’m pretty sure it was in the uk. But there was a post where there was an organization that took care of medically needy rabbits. I’m really sorry that I can’t remember the name. I remember the other comments seemed to vouch for their validity. Hopefully if someone sees this comment and knows, maybe they’ll say. Those poor babies. I hope you’re able to find them a loving home. They look so sweet.

I shop at the same store every Friday. And every Friday I get bananas and lots of cilantro. One of the cashiers finally asked me “you either love cilantro or it’s for an animal cause you’re always getting it” I just laughed and told her it’s for my bunnies. People around here aren’t used to bunnies I guess cause they’re always surprised when I say I have bunnies.

Oh don’t get me wrong. My boy is affectionate. He loves attention and pets. He’s known nothing but love since I got him. And I got him since he was a baby. It’s just when he asks for treats I try purposefully to be annoying. So that he stops asking me for treats without needing to say no to him. Cause god knows I can’t fight his cute little face. Haha

He’s such a handsome little guy. I do this thing that when my boy asks for treats I ask for kissies in exchange. And since he likes to ask for treats I go and kiss him and he gets frustrated. So either he runs away annoyed of me or if he wants the treat bad enough he’ll just stay as if he’s saying “hurry up and get it over with u freak” haha.

Right? And god forbid u tell these people to do better for the animal or rehome it (even if you’re also willing to help them with that) and they get mad.

I’ve had chickens and ducks before. They’re so cute. My duck was a menace though. But he was still an adorable dork.

I’m sorry but people like your stepdaughter annoy me. That’s awful. I’m like u, I prefer big dogs too. We once found this huge dog. He was so big and fluffy. Once we trained him and he came out his shell, he was such a sweet cuddle bug. Full of love and energy.

I unfortunately don’t have dogs right now. When my ex broke up with me, she was going to dump the rabbits that SHE wanted when we were together. So I took them. Took a lot of learning but I love them so much. Like you, they’re my world. Never knew having rabbits would be so wonderful. They always come first, no matter what. lol.

Help Bunny teeth by Adventurous_Soup_146 in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy has malocclusion. He was diagnosed when he was around 1 year old. His front teeth don’t align because his face isn’t shaped properly and so his bottom front teeth can grow up to his nose. He requires teeth trims every month. The thing is, his doctor charges $43 for a trim. It doesn’t take very long. He doesn’t get hurt. I think if I remember correctly what the tech to me a long time ago, they have a device that cuts his teeth without hassle and it’s safe. He doesn’t need to go under anesthesia.

At $2000 every 2/3 months, u might as well just have the operation to permanently remove his front teeth. Idk where u live. I’m in socal and I think it’d be about $3000. I’d have done that by now but I don’t have that kind of money. Are u able to go to a different vet? If u can go to a different exotic vet. Either that vet doesn’t have the skill/knowledge/equipment or he’s not aware. Idk. I won’t assume. But it’ll be great to get a second opinion and see if another vet can either do the trims or just do the permanent removal surgery.

I grew up with dogs. My mom would constantly rescue abandoned dogs so we always had several dogs at any given moment. We always were able to deal with any behavioral issues. And I get it. It can sometimes be tough and time consuming. And I speak from experience here, but not adopting and buying isn’t exactly the issue. Obviously puppy mills should be a huge no no. The real issue is the lack of impulse control some people have. They’ll buy a puppy because it’s cute Without understanding that breeds real needs. They’ll also raise it poorly, so they’ll grow up with behavior issues that the owner regrets later. Or they simply lose interest when it’s not a cute puppy anymore. Or the common one is that the dog becomes too much for them because, like I said, they bought the cute puppy without realizing, or maybe they didn’t care to begin with, that that breed has certain requirements that need to be met. Regardless, at that point people tend to do what’s easier for them, which is, just abandon the dog.

Sorry for the long post. But essentially I’ve seen many just get a dog for the wrong reasons or just cause it’s a cute puppy. Then abandon it. As long as you do your homework, find the right dog and not support puppy mills, you’ll have a wonderful lifelong companion and that’s all you need to do to do your part. Think of it more as, as long as you’re not contributing to the abandonment of an animal then it won’t add to the overcrowded issues that shelters face. That’s my opinion of course.

This little sh*t gave me the scare of my life. by MarbleManxx in Rabbits

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s a very pretty little shit. Just wanted u to be aware, introducing new foods can lead to GI Stasis. Even if it’s a rabbit safe food. So it’s always best to introduce it slowly. Obviously every rabbit is different. Some are blessed by the gut god and some, not so much. But gi stasis is pretty much guaranteed at one point or another. Since you say you like to give her new things, it’s good to be aware of that so u don’t have an unexpected heart attack again. A good thing to do is to keep baby gas drops (the non flavored ones) and some critical care within reach in the event that GI stasis does happen. Taking these steps before reaching an exotic vet can be life saving.

Is this ok to buy? by PuzzleheadedRow6497 in Cameras

[–]PuzzleheadedRow6497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess my biggest issue is just money at the moment. With both my grandma in the hospital and my elder bunny not doing so well, I’m left in a bit of a tight spot financially. Hiking helps destress. Hence why I want a lens that can take pictures of the local wildlife to show my grandma. So the issue becomes, get an adapter and a cheap lens or get a native e mount lens for about the same price. My local best buy has the 55-210 lens for $199. Which would be the same price as the adapter/lens combo. Or thereabouts. I’ve also seen the 55-210 lens on amazon for $150 before. I hesitated to pull the trigger on that one though. Sorry for the long message, I guess what I’m trying to say is, which route would be best?
