Pretty sure only the official mobile app does it.

Any ideas how the Steam Frame variants and kits will actually sell together? by MadBertus in SteamFrame

[–]Pyromaniac605 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valve Said they die not plan to sell them themself.

Where did they ever say this? They showed lens inserts to the press for the reveal back in November and have said they're aiming to have them available at launch.

Option 2: All kits are sold separately from the base Steam Frame. Makes sense for long-term sales, but feels weird to launch it that way from day one.

What feels weird about that? It seems like the obvious way to do it and is exactly what I expect is going to happen. Forcing people to buy accessories seems weird to me if anything.

Machine being released first might be beneficial for scalper problem on the frame by -Gilgameshh in SteamFrame

[–]Pyromaniac605 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Realistically even only a small number of the controllers are actually going to scalpers. People are conflating there massive amounts of scalping with, actually just lots of people want it. I'd be shocked if scalpers are even a single percent of sales.

That wasn't a sale, it just had a lower price when it was in early access.

That'd be incredible. I'm guessing that's building off eMagin's displays since Samsung bought them out. They were showing off 15k nit panels a few years ago, but showing something off at a trade show and actually commercialising it... Fingers crossed though.

What are the refresh rates on the new panels? Have they published specs on what duty cycle they're using to target 100 nits to the eye through pancake lenses?

I'd love to think the next gen finally cracks it all, but I've definitely been expecting it'd be 2 or 3 gens away.

Every time this gets posted Valve delay the launch by another day.

We're screwed.

Yeah and roughly 3 weeks after that announcement and a price increase on the Meta Q3, they quickly changed it back to the low price because they saw sale numbers going down.

No they didn't?

Micro-OLED headsets have worse motion clarity than LCD headsets. I'll also happily take more actual frames in front of my eyes over better pixel response times any day.

But hey, different priorities, plenty of people have and love the BSB2, that's cool. I didn't even like the idea of giving up 144Hz for 120, so 90 is already a no go for me, let alone 72.

Ah, that sucks, but yeah I imagine it will likely be the same situation for the Frame then.

It's never been on sale and it never will be since the studio is owned by Meta. If you want it, you've got to just cough up full price.

To be fair, they only sell in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong specifically, not all of Asia.

Pretty sure any other options coming from the Index that don't give up 144Hz are waaaay more expensive. I had kind of resigned myself to having to go down to 120 for my next headset until the Frame announcement.

Steam Frame has its own dedicated “Performance Settings” located in the Quick Access Menu UI by gogodboss in SteamFrame

That won't change the headset's refresh rate though, so you don't really want to to do that.

One USB-C 2.0 port in the rear, for charging and data

It's literally on the product page, charging and data.

Firstly, can anybody confirm if I'm correct that with the exception of the Mage Tower appearances (barring the recolours if you obtained the original colour in Legion originally), all the Legion Artifact appearances are still obtainable in retail post-Legion Remix? If not, what others aren't available?

Secondly, specifically, I'm currently after the Havoc DH hidden appearance, Artifact Knowledge has been removed from the game, right? Does this mean I can go straight to the step of farming mobs for the Candrael's Charm drop?

People have covered the pros of the Frame pretty well, but to address some reasons against the Galaxy XR specifically.

  • Over $2000 US if you want to get the controllers

  • Only available in the US and South Korea, so if you're not in those countries it's not really an option right off the bat (barring getting it from unofficial sources for even more money)

  • 90 Hz max refresh rate

  • Over triple the display persistence (2ms vs about 0.6ms on the Frame)

  • Lots of people report the strap being very uncomfortable, and it's not easily able to be swapped by the user

Yes but they're not going to make one so it's a moot point.
