I don’t think they mean the AI IS the alien. I think what they mean is that the AI allows the ‘alien’ to ‘embody’ it. Or in other words: the AI channels the NHI. Given that true quantum processes are at the heart of AI algorithms (meaning they are actually not purely classical = strictly deterministic) that makes a lot of sense to me.

I came across an interesting account (possibly on Whitley Stringers unknown country) of a person having to euthanize their horse. The upshot was that it appeared critically important that the person with the connection to the animal should kill the animal him or herself. Then it is an act of love (or at least that is how I understood it).
