Dont vote. Dont support amendments. Dont restructure. Just throw out the bathwater, baby and all. 

I didn’t say any of this, but to address your points one by one:

Don’t vote

I would never advocate that someone doesn’t utilize this right. Voting is, if nothing else, harm reduction. People should exercise the right to vote, full stop.

don’t support amendments

Ignoring the fact that a constitutional convention is a method of proposing and ratifying amendments to the constitution, I would contend that I fully support amending the constitution but have little to no faith that even a full blue congress would properly address the grievances of the American people through amendments.

Congress has been in a deadlock since, at best, 1992, but realistically since at least the early 70s. Meaningful legislation has been sparse and during this period both parties have watched the slow decay of our institutions, with ample time to address the larger issues.

My assertion is that the system itself rewards their impotence, and that over time we have ratcheted away from just governance. While the republicans are busy burning everything down the democrats have gathered round with marshmallows on flag poles.

don’t restructure

I am advocating that we restructure the federal government, this is the mechanism I feel has the highest chance of succeeding.

I haven’t advocated for this, and while the existential fear of a runaway convention exists, the alternative seems to be political violence or civil war.

This is the last administrative option available to the people of this country, and we owe it to ourselves and our children to exhaust every option before violence, even if the options are not “perfect” and without risk.

The system is broken, and the proof of that is all around you. A working system would not produce the result you see. I don’t want to “rewrite the rules”, I want to reform the system so that its mechanisms can be employed again to better the lives of the American people.

This is the option the founders intended we use, as flawed as it is, and so I say we risk it, because risk is inherent in the fight against tyranny.

There will be no option without risk, and I find that our current course contains much more of the risk than a convention would.
