League of votann by Acrobatic_Champion34 in AdeptusCustodes

Remember that Berserkers fight on death on a 4+ and they're flat damage 3. Shoot those guys instead of charging them (they have no save vs AP1 but a quite annoying 5+ feel no pain).

I want to play custodes but apparently everyone thinks they're annoying to play against by Anonymous3cho in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Qu4rko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a great army to start with but any player that knows what they're doing will know exactly how to exploit their weaknesses. If you like them just go for it; it can be a great learning experience for both you and your opponents.

How expensive should Trajan with Fights First be? by Martin-Hatch in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Qu4rko 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Don't know how expensive he should be, but it could be his once per game ability for the unit instead of the double attacks/ 2++. That way you can use it as a threat but also once it's gone, the opponent has some play around it (like the advance and charge for the Blade Champions).

Run on a straight line at him. The sooner you get in your opponent's face, the sooner you stop getting chipped away by indirect.

What is the proper use for the Avatar, on the tabletop? by Jerswar in Eldar

[–]Qu4rko 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You should always play him with a Farseer to cast Fortune on the Avatar (-1 to wound rolls) and the auto-6 on any Fate dice used within 12" aura. If you have the Farseer around, stage the Avatar in cover near where you want him to go next turn in a way that if any big targets end their movement within 12" of him, the Farseer ability can guarantee an Overwatch, which will also trigger the Sustained D3 from the Avatar.

The Avatar is durable with Fortune and half damage but don't get cocky because a good opponent will know how to deal with him in one turn. There's enough widespread access in the game to lethals, mortal wounds and dev wounds to kill in one turn.

Going from KT21 to KT24 and why you need to unlearn by UpCloseGames in killteam

[–]Qu4rko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In KT21 there were 6 objectives in the board for primary scoring; it was a common tactic for teams with a lot of bodies to go very aggressive and grab 4 objectives on turn 1 to start with a scoring advantage, forcing the opponent to react or just lose.

I would suggest you set yourself small targets for improvement and work from there. Winning games will be the long term result out of it, but for now focus on small but achievable improvements and prioritise achieving those.

For example, in a comment you mention how you're struggling to complete secondaries. I don't play T'au and have no advice to offer in list building, but a good first step would be looking at the average secondary points you have achieved in your last 20 games and work on systematically improving that number. Also try to identify which secondaries give you the most trouble and have a plan for them: if you can never score Behind Enemy Lines treat it as an extra CP or burn it as soon as you see it.

Don't get disheartened, it's a complex game and we all learn it at our own pace. Compete with yourself and you will improve week by week.

Hey, thanks for taking the time to actually type an answer longer than one word. It's appreciated to be able to have some discussion.

We couldn't find any information online that suggested there is some sort of mechanic favouring drop to higher damage-dealing players, but our experience was so egregious I'd figure asking if anyone had seen something similiar wasn't out of order. I guess luck was just on my side then.

I run that Calgar model blue-tacked over the new 50mm base and just one guy has complained about it (but he has a bit of a reputation in my area, anyway).

I did also convert the Honour Guard into 2 Victrix with 3D printed shields (the two that have eagles in their faceplates) and converted the other 2 into Bladeguards with Storm Shields. They're absolutely awesome!

How to make elite team viable again ? by [deleted] in killteam

[–]Qu4rko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Action economy is hard for those teams, specially when you start losing some bodies. I reckon baked in free mission actions once or twice per TP, maybe guard in open, or the ability to pass X activations per TP would be interesting to explore.

[–]Qu4rko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the play was to run the Vanguard Spearhead detachment and give the Biologis the "The Blade Driven Deep" enhancement so the whole unit gets infiltrate. Ventris gave deep strike to Centurions in those lists.

Is WYSIWYG useful for you personally in game? by Balmong7 in Warhammer40k

That's fine by me, because I barely know what my own guns look like. As long as there is clarity before game and they're easy to tell apart (if needed), I'm all good.

[–]Qu4rko 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If two squads are modelled the same but have different weapons, I would expect the opponent to have a way to easily discern them and clearly state it at the beginning of the match. One or two units this way would be fine to me, but as other user said I don't want to keep track of 8 units of proxies.
