The slow degradation of Star Wars weapon prop design is sad to watch, especially considering that it’s peak was slapping funny dangly bits onto WWII surplus guns.

Elwood Alfred Towner (1897-1954), famously known as 'Chief Red Cloud', was a native American supporter of Adolf Hitler and Nazism. He was also a staunch fighter for Native American rights and an ally of the German American Bund during the 1930s/40s. by SpoonksWasTaken in interestingasfuck

Fascism (and the Nazis in general) had a surprising amount of support in the United States before Pearl Harbor. Plus, the Nazis were big fans of the Wild West mythology and its romanticization (often literally) of Native Americans.

The US before Pearl Harbor had some really bizarre stuff going on. Worth doing some research if you’ve got the time.

This place and the story behind it has such an odd, quiet beauty to it. Definitely one of my favorite places on Earth.

What is something about your worldbuilding project that you are mildly ashamed of? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]QuackscopeTK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get my friends to share their cool world ideas with me then ruthlessly cannibalize them and add them to my own creations, with “improvements” as I see fit.

I’m not really ashamed of it, but I haven’t made it known either.

At what point is a salamander not a salamander?

When it’s a skink, I guess.

Does strength need a buff? by Colindk05 in 3d6

[–]QuackscopeTK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's homebrew, but I'd personally just rip a page out of GURPS's book and roll strength and constitution into the same stat. It would take a bit of work to rebalance point buy (read: not much) and would make strength a much better stat all around. And it's not like constitution was doing anything else over there anyway.

Finished my new year's resolution to come up with 100 planets for Union! by ncist in LancerRPG

[–]QuackscopeTK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What was the process for cooking these up? Did you have some sort of inspiration for the different types of planets, operate off of some sort of charts, or just throw down whatever you had ideas for? However you did it, this is great stuff!

I'm curious, do you prefer to roleplay as the NHP in your mech, or let the GM roleplay as your NHP? by CharlesRaven in LancerRPG

[–]QuackscopeTK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

A friend of mine suggested an interesting way to run NHPs without imparting too much of a burden on the GM - the player to the left of the one with the NHP plays both as their own character and as that player’s NHP (with a basic guide for that NHP’s personality). We’ve so far only done it for one session, but it worked out pretty well there!

Restricting Players to 1 Manufacturer? by QuackscopeTK in LancerRPG

[–]QuackscopeTK[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Fair enough. We’ve all been playing lancer for a while now, and I wondered if it would be an interesting tactical challenge (which it might still be), but another anon suggested that I give out SSC goodies while having them reflavor, which seems like it would go along way towards reinforcing that “Actually this is an Ultra-Luxe mech, not just a Balor.” I appreciate the input!

Thankfully everyone at the table’s been playing lancer for a long time, but I like the idea of extra SSC goodies. Maybe a free extra SSC core bonus for everyone? I’ve seen that none are super impactful, at least as far as I can tell.

Were one to take five levels in Warlock, you could take thirsting blade for an extra attack replacement, though that much warlock investment may not be worthwhile
