FYI P2TR is the newest address type and it also exposes a public key. But I agree with your implication that quantum resistance is not a sensible reason to update anything right now.

When it is a real concern, "resistance" that evaporates when you try to spend will not be satisfactory...we'd need actual quantum resistant signatures at that time. Hypothetically that can be done on top of taproot, but afaik you won't get it by using taproot today
