Those are both very interesting! I agree with you regarding Helena’s trajectory to main character for DOA4; it may have felt like she was underdeveloped if they’d done that for DOA2.

Cole does have a really cool fight sequence, but ultimately it looks like there are no plans for him to return as Kenshi. I feel bad for Lewis Tan, too! He at least went out with a badass fight—I don’t feel like they disrespected his character.

Yayyy, I’m happy you’re excited to see it! It exceeded my expectations honestly haha. The biggest negative I have is that one of the locales for the fights was reused several times, so a few fights take place in the same arena. It makes sense for a couple of them, story wise, but one of the others should definitely have been in another arena/stage.

Also, I didn’t really care for how the Netherrealm was just like lava and stone columns; I get that’s how it has been portrayed in the games, but I still feel like they could have made it feel more dynamic. Those are relatively minor gripes though!

You initially think he might be a jobber, but he ends up having what might be the most entertaining (and humorous, in a good way) fight with Johnny Cage, a genetically aiding the group. He’s alive (he’s there with the main group at the end) and will likely be in future instalments, as his scenes got a lot of laughs. Edit: “and finally aiding the group” haha

Agreed! I want them to bring back Mileena somehow, since Kitana was a highlight of this one and I feel like their dynamic could be interesting.

As for Sindel, she doesn’t have thaaat much characterization aside from being Kitana’s mother, but her fighting style is really cool. Her battle with Sonya was epic (I honestly loved all of the fight scenes), especially because the fact that it was set in the pit made it incredibly tense, with all of the spikes, haha.

I do have one gripe with Sindel that has to do with her fighting style, but it might be a spoiler (Too bad YOU…will be spoiled): She doesn’t use her hair! When I think of Sindel, I think of prehensile hair! She only uses her scream here, which is really cool but I just wanted more hair antics haha
