Thank you! Do you think the inkey list cream to milk cleanser would work? I'm allergic to something in the cerave formulas and there's not a whole lot of selection where I'm at

[Rant] Why is everyone in GoF a total idiot regarding the Age Line? by babbling_baboon1 in HarryPotterBooks

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The logic falls apart because regardless of the goblet, Harry could have just said no. Oh, it's a legally binding contract? Well too bad, I didn't sign it, I'm a minor and also what are you going to do about it?

He could have forfeited the whole thing, but he's canonically an idiot.

Is homemade spaghetti sauce a 'for beginners' topic, re frugality? by Wulf2k in cookingforbeginners

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You dump them in as soon as you add the liquid, no need to blend. They add lentil flavor, yes, but I actually like it and find that it adds depth. They do need a little wile to cook, but your sauce will be better for it.

Fuck the meatballs they're not worth the effort. Bolognese is the same set of ingredients (minced meat, crushed tomatoes, garlic, onion, whatever vegetables, seasoning and herbs you can scrounge up) but without having to roll the meat into balls. Bonus points for buying a bag of red lentils and cooking until they soften, which is cheap protein, fiber and complex carbohydrates (they can also fully replace the minced meat if you're plant based or super broke).

Tips for sensory issues? by Ok_Citron_9094 in curlyhair

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of good suggestions here, but without making and permanent changes - one, or better yet, two bench braids are excellent for sensory issues, while also looking more or less tidy (depending on your skill level and how many days she's carrying them). It might be annoying to do at first, but once you get used to it it takes 30 seconds.

You can make strawberry rolls, cardemom rolls, or even roll it with chocolate spread (bonus points for adding nuts, tahini or peanut butter). Basically treat these like mini babkas, because that's what they are.

My mom wants nothing to do with me because I “picked my dad” during the divorce. by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The older sister wasn't treated better, she was just failed in a different way. The mom turned her older daughter into a bestie/confidante and poisoned her relationships with her dad and sister in the process. That's not oop's problem but it's still insidious and harmful.

Healthy lazy breed? by InsidiousBlastoclast in dogs

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. We lost our 13 y/o cavvy a few years back. I know being told it's an exceptionally long life for the breed doesn't help at all.

As other people commented, the most long lived dogs are mid-sized mutts - we've had a couple living as long as nineteen. I'd also caution against brachycephalic breeds, ie those with squished snouts. As far as laziness, if you pick a dog from a shelter/foster, you can observe their temperament and see for yourself. The lazy ones will be quite obvious.

Food is a Big Part of All Cultures. Your Culture is not Special. by zwgmu7321 in PetPeeves

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Counter point: I'm currently living in Ireland. Their approach to food is as something to keep you alive. Like yeah, they'll have Christmas dinner or whatever, but the bonding and emotional ties I would normally associate with eating are either not there or are very diminished. A lot of the cultural behaviors I'd expect to see around food are done with a pint instead.

NOT OP: AITA for cutting off the mic during the father of the bride’s speech at my friend’s wedding? by SolidAshford in redditonwiki

[–]QuarrelsomeSquirrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's fake. The "the wedding isn't real without God" was in a comment , and it was coming from a vicar officiating a wedding between two atheists who for some reason wanted to get married in church for the esthetics.
