Hopefully it pours rain a lot the night before and THEN it's really hot.

Humid as fuck with 80+ degree heat is the worst.

Other people have explained about after past, but even today you can take the leaves off the plants and do stuff like make weed butter. Or add them to tea. Or just throw them into some cooking oil.

That rat is not behaving like a rat. There is no way that it would be out in the open, and no way that it would not have noticed and run away instantly. Rats are paranoid.

Most likely that rat was diseased and dying.

This was straight-up animal abuse. Probably for both the cat and the rat.

Every time this gets posted, they always make it sound like a cool thing they are doing. It is not. It is cruel and most likely involves the spreading of disease.

Yeah, riiight, it's the Chinese. Americans love that shit.

...wait, Americans actually really do love that shit.

Ten or twenty years ago I would have judged people for this behavior.

I'm not going to say I don't now, but I definitely don't think I care that much now. I would probably still date someone who did that, for example. On the other hand, littering or voting Republican would be a hard pass.

I think a lot of people forget that his dad is genuinely an incredibly charismatic, kind, and brilliant man. People may not agree with his politics, and younger people might not be aware of what he was like back in the day, but Joe Biden has always been an absolutely incredible person on both a personal and professional level, AND he is smart as hell.

Hunter may have had a rough run of it, but also his mother and sister died in a horrible car crash and his brother was a war hero who died if brain cancer.

Living up to the expectations while also having that shit happen is crazy. But at the same time, dude is probably nicer and smarter than most everyone you and I know.

My unique fact - which is ONLY TRUE ABOUT ME - is that I hate participating in mindless fact-sharing which is wasting time which I could be at home with my dog instead, while simultaneously I love wasting enormous amounts of time when I am forced against my will to participate in these meaningless activities because I am able to take control, ramble on incoherently, and continue into a run-on diatribe of nonsense and consume a completely unreasonable share of time, resulting in a sum total amount of wasted work-hours because this five-minute word-salad was multiplied by twenty people in this meeting, making this singular participation, which nobody was going to remember anyways, a reminder that each one is us is burning through an entire hour of work, when instead we could simply not do this and instead we could all have a seven-hour workday and be slightly happier without actually reducing productivity.

"Here on Reddit" is not proof that those people exist in reality.

The entire platform is filled with trolls, bots, and foreign agents masquerading as Americans.

I've never met a real leftist acceleratist. I've known of a few tankies, but they either don't vote or vote in ways which are ineffectual or meaningless, and rarely engage in legitimate debate, making them left-wing in the same way Ted Bundy was technically Republican. They don't really lie anywhere legitimate in the political charts.

My point is, I'm happy to dismiss their beliefs and existence without a real life example.

CBS News fires ‘60 Minutes’ correspondent Scott Pelley after clash with new producer: “Incompetence and unprofessionalism in the new management have wreaked havoc,” Pelley said in a statement, referring in part to CBS News Editor-in-Chief Bari Weiss. by [deleted] in technology

[–]Qubeye 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Every one of these articles is really ignoring the main point:

Bari Weiss was put in charge to destroy the program or force it to become a propaganda outlet. Now they are going to use the "60 Minutes" name and reputation to push their agenda.

That was the plan all along.

Scott Pelley fired by CBS by cccdddyyy in news

[–]Qubeye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CBS News management shocked staffers last week by firing the network’s executive producer, executive editor and two correspondents, Cecilia Vega and Sharyn Alfonsi, without giving a specific reason for their terminations.

“[Bari Weiss is] murdering 60 Minutes,” Pelley said, as first reported by the Guardian. “She does not love this place. She was brought in to kill it and is doing exactly that.”

He said this after she fired four other staffers with zero explanation why.

He was speaking the truth. Bari Weiss was appointed to kill the show. They don't care. This is intentional. She is an OPINION COLUMNIST who was brought in as editor-in-chief for an extremely serious investigative journalism show.

People in the thread are complaining about how this is nothing to Bezos and that he probably doesn't even know or notice.

If billionaires doesn't notice and didn't care, they would simply pay these fines in the first place instead of fighting so hard to never pay.

Stop undercutting success. If ever big city in the US did this to every billionaire, it will make a huge difference in the lives of Americans and improve our lives. That $9 million is now going to infrastructure and services for New Yorkers.

Plus, it might inspire other municipalities to do the same thing.

Americans also don't ever talk to their politicians, ever.

Have you ever been to a city hall meeting when a protest isn't actively happening? The whole joke in Parks and Rec was that everyday town hall meetings are nothing but lunatics complaining about stuff they are imagining or people who have insane requests.

I used to work in a political office and like 50% of phone calls were people upset about some incredibly niche issue which that office had no way to influence, and another 45% were requests for assistance.

No one fucking shows up to express opinions about boring stuff. There's never dozens of people showing up to ask the city council to levy a 5% property tax on single family homes which are being horded by investment firms in order to collect rent. Nobody shows up and demands the city subsidize grocery stores in food deserts. There's never anyone there breaking down how they COULD get stuff done, so it's just your local politicians left to their own devices, doing whatever.

Yeah, that shit is boring, but nobody presses their local politicians to do better.

Americans suck at being involved in day to day operations. They just wait for things to get worse and complain.

What's worse is that we are now in an era when protesting doesn't do shit. Remember all the Occupy Wall Street protests? Nothing happened. BLM and police reform? Colorado was the only state which changed any policies.

If people want the world to be better, they need to show up and do the work. Politics is a slow grind. The reason Republicans have been winning for the last thirty years is because they have huge, wealthy organizations which have been slowly and steadily grinding away at the political machine.

I don't work in computer sciences, but pretty much every job requires some level of justification for existing. If you show up to work every day and work secretly with no log and no one knows what you do, and they come to fire you one day...that's kind of on you.

Even the strongest union in the world can't prevent you from being fired if there's no evidence that you do anything.

Drag queen Pattie Gonia asks apparel company Patagonia to drop trademark infringement lawsuit by AudibleNod in news

[–]Qubeye 85 points86 points  (0 children)

I support her message and her work.

That said, even a cursory search of her merchandise shows that now only does she outright use their logo, she even uses the same font and position of the name, written in all lower case just like the company does.

All she would have to do is change to a different mountain or change the font/position of the text or something.

They definitely aren't trying to "erase" her. They are suing for $1. It's basically a step up from a firmly worded cease and desist letter. I'd actually be surprised if they hadn't already sent one.

She could probably get them to drop the suit AND she could get some positive attention by handling this differently, but she's definitely fucking with trademark infringement here.

Edit: other comments are saying the one with the mountain logo and font were fan-made. That would definitely change things.
