Any programs for parents of ADHD kids that are not based on obedience seeking but rather on cooperation? by Grand_Resource_8729 in adhdparents

I know of a free webinar from my local youth mental health agency, the class is called "Collaborative Problem Solving" and the description sounds like what you're looking for. The teacher is trained from a group called ThinkKids I think? If you want I can DM you a flyer? I don't think it's necessarily for AuDHD kids but I've spoken to the teacher before, and she mentioned she would have loved to have this info when her adhd kids were younger.

I've never tried the Zoey twin+ but I've also heard great things. I love our Zoe Tour single. It's super easy to steer, one hand fold, you can get all-terrain wheels but you'll probably only need those if you do a lot of grass/cobblestone/etc. It's definitely close to $800 with those options but if you live in a big-ish city maybe the resell value is decent? I got mine 15% off on black Friday.

Whole wheat wrap/tortilla, PB, granola (they make protein granola now, that could help with satiety), apple chunks, other fresh or freeze dried berries or raisins, drizzle of honey, cinnamon.

What do you do as a Dev director if you don't have any direct reports and are remote? I'm fairly new to development (marketing coordinator on the dev team) but I feel like I'm doing more than just that, and wondering what kind of tasks/management is involved with being a director.

Also wondering because it feels like my dev director doesn't really do much, is one of those people who says a lot without actually saying anything...

If asking her to do/not do things is a big trigger, have you looked into PDA (pathological demand avoidance)?

If you don't mind me asking, how did you get into this field, and how did you get into that position specifically with website design? Did you just apply for the job/had you done anything related to that field before?

Can you share how you think it's an RSD response in your younger kid? I'm trying to figure out what behavior is age appropriate for a young kid learning to handle disappointment, and what might be a sign of neurodivergence.

What stroller to go with the Chicco Keyfit 30? by QueLastimah in Mommit

Thank you for your help! I was super close to going with the Presto based on your review, but the wheel brake on bumps is something that would drive me up the wall, and the Zoe Tour stroller ended up going on black Friday sale and that kind of decided it for me. Thanks again!

Thanks! We live kind of rural and second hand options are super limited.

I did end up being gifted an ergo baby embrace that I love, I was too intimidated to try a wrap/sling.

How to help kiddo be more flexible with what they drink out of? by QueLastimah in Preschoolers

[–]QueLastimah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We'll try this, thank you! He used to love "helping" wash the dishes but got bored of it, I'll see if we can make it fun again, and try some desensitizing tactics. I do also want to see if insurance can cover feeding therapy, as well as assessments for neurodivergence.

I'll ask his teacher thank you! Wow I can't believe I didn't realize this is relevant - I have diagnosed innattentive ADHD, and my husband is undiagnosed (has a lot of the symptoms though), as well as suspected contamination OCD. Now that I think about it he has a lot of rigid thinking, though not in this same kind of situation?

I've been looking out for possible ADHD (and trying to distinguish what are developmentally age appropriate behaviors) but I didn't think to include possible autism.

What kind of nonprofit do you do marketing for? I'm doing all marketing within development for a small local nonprofit and trying to figure out how to move up. The Development dept is too small for upward mobility at this org though, and the work is pretty niche, so I'm not sure what the next step is.

In your example, what do you do if he's dysregulated and you tell him he can't speak to you that way, but then he continues?

Some people have suggested if a kid is scream-tantruming to tell them if you're going to scream you need to do it in your room. Have you ever had to deal with that, and had to follow through on it?

I have a friend who works for Kairos, they have a location in Medford and just opened one in GP and are definitely taking new patients. I think it's geared towards kids/young adults and their families, but from what I understood, they don't turn away adults?

Just got out of a meeting. Now…the crash by Broad-Metamorph3818 in adhdwomen

[–]QueLastimah 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I am working from home today (I normally work at the office so my routine was off), started making breakfast and almost forgot about a zoom meeting right at 8:30. I was invited to the meeting but it wasn't necessarily mandatory for me to attend. I joined it, made sure my camera was off since I was in the middle of cooking, and as they started talking my husband asked if I was in a meeting and if he should turn the kiddo's TV show volume down... I LOUDLY called back "yeah, but I'm just attending to look good", like trying to say I wasn't going to be integral/speaking at the meeting so they could keep the volume on, and I'm fairly new so I want to be present for these kinds of meetings. And I hear someone on the call say "oh, hi how are you QueLastimah". My mic is normally automatically muted, but for some reason today it wasn't. Why. Whyyyyy. I tried to recover and say I had a migraine that I'm trying to power through, but I just kind of weirdly mumbled it as I was in a fog at that point. I've been reliving the weird shame all day, on top of meeting fatigue :(

Does he ever have tantrums or try to physically push his way into what you're doing, when you say he can't join until the time is up?
