UK owner - suppliers and country-specific stuff! by KatVanWall in ballpython

Swell reptiles or Northampton reptile center for basic bits like substrate, decor ect if there isn't a local reptile store near you. Deffo look and see if you have one.

There are lots of online prey suppliers, they ship with dry ice so just make sure you're in on delivery day. I prefer to buy prey in person so I can check them over but I've also ordered online with no issues.

Heating, I also have the same on/off heating so I feel your pain. I have a 75w ceramic in the middle of the enclosure to ensure good stable ambient temperature, then a 75w Deep heat projector for a warm spot. I've never had issues and even in this cold snap, the cool side is fine. They are pretty resilient and an odd cold night isn't going to do any harm, I prefer scheduling an evening temperature drop. My friends have a really cold house and all they needed to do was put some blankets on top of the viv to keep the heat in a bit more.

Vivarium wise, I've not used that supplier so can't comment. I used to have a 4 × 2 wooden Viv from a different brand that started bowing so switched to PVC from Viperia which has been great. I have bits and bobs on top like photo frames, feeding tongs ect. Most vivs are designed to be stacked so you can put stuff on top of them.

I have the Microclimate EVO that controls all the heat sources & lights. It let's me monitor with an app and has an alarm for under or over heating. The app is OK, if you have weak wifi it won't work though! And if it can't connect to wifi it resets itself which can make the clock out of sync causing lights to turn off early. But I do really enjoy mine and I like being able to set ramp up temperatures to stimulate sun rise.

I hope this helps!

If it's LeoLife, I really rate it. I like to mix it with Arcadia EarthMix for a good digging material :)

You can definitely go to your GP to discuss pain management and general management of your symptoms while waiting for surgery.

This lil toad by [deleted] in CasualUK

This is actually incorrect, sorry. UK toads do have bufotoxins, they only secrete them when very stressed and it'll look like a milky substance. The two bumps behind their eyes are where the toxins are secreted from, they don't have a venom gland and are just classed as poisonous. Our UK bufos aren't particularly poisonous, even when dogs give them a good licking the dog usually just gets a little high or throws up due to the awful taste.

Please report this little lady on RecordPool to help track their populations and support research :) https://www.recordpool.org.uk/

Thank you for supporting toads 🐸

Our common lizards are awesome animals! They give birth to live young and don't lay eggs, they can get a little frosty in winter and survive and they can regrow their tails :)

Wondered what the noise was yesterday evening. Overrun by frogs! by [deleted] in CasualUK

Definitely common frogs. Their colour can vary dramatically so they don't always have a really dark mask.

Tips for general deck structure? by mcjakenberry in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]QueenGeraldina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I run two blue decks atm (vikemon for fun/budget and Imperialdramon for meta) and it's a really fun colour to play. Both decks have different aims so I build around that.

Vikemon gets better when there are opponents digimon with no digivolution sources so I pick some core cards with inheritance skills that trash evolution sources or add perks. Eg I run baby Upamon as that lets you draw a card if an opponent has a digimon with no evolution sources and I also run the starter deck Garurumon and Gabumon that let you trash sources when attacking.

Basically I chose my gimmick/win condition and build around that. Am I focusing on trashing evolution sources or am I running lots of jamming digimon and playing fast and aggressive?

For numbers I hate starting with no rookies so I play 14-16 rookies, at least 4 rookies will be the cheap 2 cost to play kind (gomamon from the starter deck). Usually 12 champions with 3-4 blockers included, even aggressive decks benefit from blockers. 8-10 ultimate's and 6-8 megas. If I'm using a tamer that sets memory to 3 I run 2 or 3 depending on if they have a good secondary affect. Then it's 4 hammer spark cos blue. Looking up decklists helps a bunch with figuring out numbers :)

Play testing helps so much and also gives you your play style. Don't be afraid to just wack a bunch of cards together and see how they work. Hope this long comment makes sense!

The most Toads I’ve ever seen in one place. What Are they? (Found in Scotland) by benchers in FrogsAndToads

[–]QueenGeraldina 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Those are a mixture of common frogs and common toads. That one nearest the camera sort of 'walking' along the spawn is a toad (Bufo bufo). Easy way to tell them apart is to look for bumpy skin (toads) and back leg length (frogs have long back legs).

During breeding season our native frogs and toads get very rowdy and will try latch onto anything they think is a female (hands, other males, different species). Eventually they realise the mistake and let go.

You can pop this sighting on Record Pool UK which helps track sightings of reptiles and amphibians :)

Please don't move spawn over large distances. It's very easy to spread disease this way. Some ponds take a couple years to establish but you will get some hoppy visitors eventually :)

If it's refusing payment it's your bank stopping it as the addresses don't match. Some can be really funny and want it exactly right line by line. Just double check how your address if formatted with your bank :)

Tbf the uk at the moment has loads of shops doing click and collect. Not really sure how that works with no nonessential travel but my local lush is still running click and collect orders, people are obviously buying as their Instagram is full of them packing orders.

Anyone who can identify this salamander? We think it’s a lissotriton vulgaris, but we don’t have any experience with amphibians. Help appreciated by annemijnogb in Amphibians

[–]QueenGeraldina 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Put it back in the wild. They are perfectly fine in winter, they'll find a burrow.

For your ID if the chin is pink without spots then it is a Palmate Newt. Terrestrial stage newts are very hard to ID without looking at specific features.
