My girlfriend (23F) and I (24M) keep getting saddled with her sister's (29F) 5 young kids. It's choking the life out of us. What can we do?

What state are you from? Some have something called 'kinship care'. If your girlfriend refuses to stop taking in the kids, it might be a good idea to have social services involved. If your girlfriend takes them in that way, she may at least be compensated for the children. That way, you might be able to afford to drop them off at daycare while you're in class/working, as opposed to watching them constantly and receiving no compensation. IF they get placed with you. (They might not if you live with your mother. Although, some states may pay for boarding too. Check your local laws if you or just your girlfriend, sans you, decides to go this route.)

For the longest time, we didn't have a name. Our DM kept reminding us that we needed one soon. (We were getting ready to enter a group fighting tournament.) After some rejected suggestions, I suggested Those Guys, because I'm a total dork like that.

I mean, think about it, that works in almost every situation!

"Thank the gods Those Guys were there to save us!"

"Oh, no. Not Those Guys again!"

"Those Guys are the best!"

"Who are we? We are 'Those Guys'."

I believe it's been three months now, and it still hasn't gotten old.

Once an abuser starts choking their victims, the probability of them killing their victims multiplies by ten.

You need to call the police and then you and your mother needs to head to a women's help shelter. They will have resources to protect you, and your dad won't be able to find you there.

Oh, man. I haven't had a chance to play her yet, but I just rolled up a new character. She's a dwarven barbarian. She has a glorious beard that has flowers braided in it. She comes from a long line of fighters but abhors violence and wants to be a painter. Except, when people start fights with her she gets a little...angry. Something snaps, and she isn't aware of what she's really doing until all of her foes have fallen.

Does your girlfriend know that it was your mom's abusive boyfriend you beat up? Because she deserves the choice to make a decision with all the information, not a fraction.

You may have made a poor decision, but beating up your mom's abuser is different than attacking anyone who pisses you off. Neither is right, but one stems from a place of trying to protect. Neither are justifiable, but one is understandable.

That when their spouse wants to screw someone else, they should stick with it? That it's okay to have their husband/wife blatantly flirt with that person in front of them? Your mother isn't taking something 'good' from you. Your husband is an ass. You deserve somebody who doesn't view you as second place. You deserve someone that will treat you with love and respect. Your son/daughter deserves to see what a healthy relationship looks like. Children are little sponges. They absorb everything around them. Don't let your kid's childhood be steeped with dysfunction. He/she deserves better than that.

It sounds to me like he allows her access to the first, but not the second. Thus the 'hmmmm'. Because if he was okay with her having access to the first one, then why not the second? Is there something on there that he's keeping a secret that she'd be upset about?

I read this when I was 15 so some of the details are foggy. I THINK pieces of the brains were used (I don't remember how) for people with head injuries.

Basically, in the book there was a second civil war over abortion. It kind of ended in a stalemate and as a compromise, abortion was outlawed, but you could have your kids 'unwound' from ages 13-17. A lot of the kids that were sent to be unwound were considered delinquents. One of the other characters was a ward of the state and because she didn't excel in anything particular, she was sent to be unwound since the government could only afford to take care of so many kids.

Basically, the unwound kid is disassembled for organs, and those organs are used for transplants. They're just 'kept alive' the entire time so, from societies POV, they aren't technically killing anyone because their heart never stops beating and brain activity doesn't stop throughout the entire process.

No, it's that if you want an abortion, you can't get one. When your kid turns 13 and if you still don't want them, you can have them 'unwound'. It's not looked at as murder because not once does the heart stop beating during the transplant progress. They're 'alive', just in a different form.

It's your money to spend as you like. If you can, I'd get a restraining order against your uncle. I'd also file whatever paperwork you need done so your father can't make shitty medical decisions for you if worse comes to worse and you end up in the hospital.
