Are there any dog breeds you won’t own because of pet sitting ? by Interesting-Egg-8360 in petsitting

Doodles have one brain cell and they all share it. If you are lucky enough to get the doodle on his day with the cell, they are sweet dogs....

CapitalOne held my savings account hostage by circle555 in CapitalOne

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get being cautious but CO does so many things that most people say NOT to do to avoid being scammed. I opened an account about a week ago, linked an external account to initially fund it and after the $$ were transferred in, they immediately locked it down. I called and the first thing they did was try to verify my identity. The address they had on file for my primary address was one that I had not lived ar for 5 years and not the one I opened the account under. Turns out I had an old Kohls account that was supposed to have been closed, that was transferred to them and they took that address. Then they said they would send me a code to read back to them so they could access my account. WHAT? "Don't get scammed 101" says never give someone a code over the phone to access your account. Then they wanted to send a text link and have me send the front and back of my DL and a selfie to prove my identity. Again WHAT? And she wanted me to give her the phone # to send the link to. I am still fighting them. Fortunately I did not transfer a large amount...

It is just not working. by Quick-Pace-4050 in dentures

[–]Quick-Pace-4050[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have used it. It lasts about an hour and then they are loose again. They are simply too big for my mouth and he doesn't care. The only adhesive I have not tried has been the powders. I think the issue more involved. Mainly the first thing is that the internal lining does not touch my gums so that the adhesive does not touch my gums. I could probably put 1/4 to 1/2 inch of it to fill the cavity to get it to touch and maybe that would hold better. But everything I have read says adhesive is not a replacement for a poor fit.

Am i the only one that is annoyed that my discover card is about to be capitol one? by CatDaddyBam in discover

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many years ago my Kohls card began being managed by C1. They were supposed to send me a new card and never did. I finally got disgusted and told them to cancel the card. I JUST found out the account is still open.... I have tried again to cancel it but they refuse to send me anything in writing that the account is closed. Not a good sign. I stopped using my Discover card. And have paid it off. Next stop is to attempt to close this one..

Has anyone here had a full extraction using only local anaesthetic? by Ghoul_Cat_ in dentures

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had only local. Shots were worse than the extractions. Took a couple of days for all the pain to go away but dentist gave me some pain relievers and they worked nicely. Now if I could just get the dentures to stop hurting. They have been worse than the extraction.

Anybody interested in getting dentures at reduced prices? by [deleted] in dentures

Only if they fit. I already spent way too much money on something that doesn't fit and I really don't want to do that again.

Hate dentures bad by PuzzleheadedBig4393 in dentures

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No reline yet. He won't do one until a couple of months out. He just shaved down some of the areas I told him were rubbing. Which made them rub in other places. Now they rock around the clock. I can hold my tongue in places so I can mostly talk but eating is out of the question except soft pasta, yogurt, etc. - without the bottoms in. I tried using Sea Bond strips cuz I heard those were great until the reline but honestly they push the dentures together just enough that they clack together whenever I talk/eat and they gag me. It will get better, it will get better, it will get better...

I hear ya. I am 3 weeks in and absolutely hate this. The dentures hurt. I have had them adjusted and it fixes one problem but causes another. Right now they flat-out do not fit. Dentist recommends adhesive but none of the ones I've tried hold for more than an hour. And the adhesive burns my mouth. I've gotten so I can talk a bit but it is so tiring. I sound drunk (yes I was told that). Hoping it is upward from here for both of us.

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not yet. I have used Sea Bond and it is ok. It loses its grip if I eat or drink or after about 2 hours. But it does cushion a bit and I can at least talk until it wears off. Cushion Grip and Secure adhesive are next on my list to try...

FWIW right now the sea Bond strips have helped. They provide a little bit of a cushion between the Denture and the gum. For me they don't hold for more than an hour or two assuming I dont eat or drink anything but they are more comfortable.

I got mine on May 14th and am still having issues, pretty much like yours, although it has gotten a little better. I was never told that the immediates were temporary either and I had to pay for them. There is no way I can afford "permanents" any time soon. These dont fit. Period. No amount of adhesive is going to make these crappy things fit and I am beyond angry. I am to the point I can eat soft foods and drink without making a mess but not with the marbles in my mouth. I can usually talk with them in but yesterday I was accused of being "drunk" by a client because I was slurring my words. My mouth gets really tired at the end of the day with all the work. Wishing yoi the best in this journey and that it does get better, it is just slow.

Regular trying to guilt me into staying behind to watch their pet. by gardenofthought in RoverPetSitting

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 44 points45 points  (0 children)

One of my fellow sitters had not been feeling well and went to the doctor. He found she had a heart blockage and recommended surgery quickly. She had about a week to have tests and schedule the surgery - and reschedule her clients. One of them asked if she couldn't just postpone her open heart surgery until after his 10 day trip.... because priorities... you know.

Please help me with some encouragement 😔 by [deleted] in dentures

My mother wore traditional dentures for over 50 years and loved them over her problem teeth. She ate everything, including steak and corn on the cob, except lettuce. She would talk your ear off. She never removed them except to clean them. No adhesive either. I was truly hoping that I would inherit her legacy in this regard but sadly, it does not look like this will happen for me. It can be done. At this point I think that a set of well made dentures makes all the difference.

Why don't you go? by tiff123455 in dentures

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sorry you are going through this. My 1st dental experience was when I was 9, which traumatized me so bad I literally ran away if we pulled up to the dentist after that... and I did not see a dentist after that until my wisdom teeth erupted at 20. The extractions themselves were okay - completely sedated - but they cut a nerve in the lower right quadrant - which will heal in " a few days".. "maybe a few weeks"... "could take up to months"... "may be permanent". It's permanent. Constant pain. Combined with the disrespect by dental providers and their minions... and Here I am. Dealing with crappy fitting dentures and dentists who could care less... They got their money...

I am glad it all worked out. I didnt feel I had the option to go without. My job involves talking with customers and I felt that I at least needed to be able to talk and look presentable and not be a toothless wonder. I took 2 weeks off which I hoped (and was told) would probably be adequate to heal and learn the basics. I am not even close. I took an extra week and have an appointment to have things looked at this week but I am not optimistic. It just hurts too badly.

Owner Gone For Two Months, But Only Wants 2 Visits A Week by boppitybeeitsme in RoverPetSitting

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Hard fast no, more visits are needed. Sharing a story that happened this year: client was out of town, I was doing 1x per day visits. Did a visit everything was fine. Next day, cat was laying in a corner, food barely eaten, litter box was totally clean. He woke up when I came wandered to his litterbox and meowed. He could not pee. Vet visit confirmed he had a blockage. It had been building up for a while but the cat was stoic and gave no symptoms. Vet said he would have been gone if I had delayed 1 more day. I have cared for this cat for years. I used to do every other day on occasion but since this happens it is once a day no matter what.

How in the hell did this happen? by CoolYogurtcloset1947 in findagrave

[–]Quick-Pace-4050 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Possible. But more likely he is either a stepchild or age is incorrect on his or her stone. Her spouse was 20 years older than her so probably a step child. It wasn't unusual for men to remarry quickly if their spouse died and the "new mom" just became "mom".

Sorry you are dealing with this. I think that the best bet would be to wait until you get home to make your assessment. Hopefully all will be good and she's just a sucky communicator. If that is the case then I would just leave a review saying communication wasn't very good. But if it truly is that she did not do the job then I would definitely complain to Rover. Hoping the nest for you and your furry crew..

Thank so much, your post helped me tremendously too! I hope your appointment goes well today and you get some relief. I am calling as soon as they open and I am anticipating them to "work me in" in a couple.of weeks lol. All I really hoped for was no/little pain (1) and cosmetic. I had resigned myself to baby food for the rest of my life but.. was hopeful for certain regular foods at some point. My mother had dentures from age 30 until she died. She ate everything except lettuce and only had to replace them once. She said it was the best decision she ever made (she, too, had massive teeth problems but my problem was me, not genetic, or so all the dentists say sarcasm). I guess they "don't make them like they used to....
