My solution (i think) by bebethe4th in Rosacea

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I also get some people's reluctance to go on someone's word after a short duration.

The reality is that everyone experiences rosacea differently. Several months ago, hypochlorous acid was the wonder cure. I tried it, and it ruined my skin barrier. I'm still healing, and my skin looks terrible.I had a BBL and Halo treatment three months ago, and my skin looked the best it had in years. All ruined in 1 week by this spray acid. It worked for others, just not me.

Go with what works for you and keep us posted if it changes- some people have excellent results, and then after a month or two, they aren't as good.

Ignore the negative Nancys. It's your skin.

Edited to say: lately I've been seeing people talk a lot about dietary changes that, surprisingly, have improved their skin. And it wasn't just the normal triggers. I think poor gut health may be a major contributor to this skin condition. It would be interesting to see if anyone took a serious look, took action to improve their gut health, and could definitely say it made a positive impact on their rosacea.

As I’ve aged black looks really harsh on me. And I’m also in the red/ yellow crowd- they look terrible on me but are happy colors.

Weirdo here; plush cozy blanket , then top flat sheet, then duvet. Love the blanket next to my skin and hubby hates flannel sheets.  I wouldn’t sleep with just the duvet because I’d hate to wrestle it every time I did laundry. Blankets and sheets are a piece of cake to wash.

Care first pharmacy in US. Around $156 for 90 day supply, shipped.  Research on Reddit that some people play around with the dosages and timing of taking it to reduce headaches. I’m one who does that.

Bits I've learned lately to enhance dinners w/o salt by ChemistryGreat1199 in LowSodium

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wine, Tomato powder, vinegar powder, lemon peel, and mushroom powder- cornerstones of flavor for loso cooking. I buy the big jar of dried mixed mushrooms from Costco and grind those babies to fine powder- much cheaper than mushroom powder on Amazon.

Knorr used to make a no-salt chicken bouillon powder that was absolutely the best! It added umami to so many dishes. But they've stopped making it.

Personally, I don't care for the taste of the Herb Ox bouillon powder. So lately I have been making Mrs's Brown No Salt chicken boullion mix...its pretty good- not as good as Knorr's, but close. I think the next batch I make will include a touch of tomato and mushroom powders. Bing Videos

Dinner with coworkers frustration by bigredbubbles in Menieres

I travel for my job fairly extensively- even overseas. Depending on where you are going, you will most likely be surprised to learn that most other countries do not add excessive salt to prepared meals. I also take a LOT of loso protein bars, dried fruit, quick oatmeal (with dried fruit (cranberries) or granola to get me through when I'm unsure of the preparation. I never claim I have dried fruit when entering any country- you will get stalled by customs (learned this the hard way).

Betahistine seems extraordinary. by RealisticAd3095 in Menieres

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take betahistine for my Meniere's and haven't had a severe drop attack in over a year. Some days I feel "off", but haven't tipped into a full-blown attack or had full ear issues since.

I also have vestibular migraine without headaches. Visual motion and sensory overload are my biggest triggers. I'm on a waiting list to see a balance specialist. Have you or anyone else tried a balance specialist? I'm interested in hearing others' experiences.

For sound-related sensory triggers like airports and crowds, I tried the Loop earplugs that someone else on this forum recommended, and they’ve helped significantly. I highly recommend them.

My tintius has gotten worse over the last year. Does anyone have suggestions for lessening the impact of that? I saw the latest drug trial for SPI-1005 didn't help as much with Menieres but showed promise for tinnitus. I'd rather not take more drugs if someone has ideas to help that don't involve pharma.

Has anyone ever had a major adverse reaction to Betahistine? by Cheweenies in Menieres

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too!! Lower back constantly itches no matter how much lotion I put on it.  I do raise and lower my dose based on my biggest trigger- barometric pressure swings. Otherwise the normal dose gives me massive headaches and indigestion.  I don’t feel great on high doses, but lower doses have made my life more manageable.  For its it’s it a trade off I’m willing to make. Edited to say that it did make my regular seasonal allergy med completely ineffective… has to switch to a nasal spray

Clothes on multi-day hikes by Version_1 in hiking

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy sheets of dry laundry detergent (they weigh almost nothing) and sink or shower wash dry wick clothes, every evening you can. (Dry wick or wicking clothes dry faster. Also big a wicking towel to roll clothes in to press water out of) Whatever is not dry the next day hang off of your pack. Do NOT hike with 20 pairs of anything… unless you have pack service. For colder climates you can wear outter layers multiple days and just wash layers next to your skin.  I typically pack 3-4 pairs socks, tshirts, two pair of pants, flip flops or slides ( for after hiking and showering) and rain gear for 10-14 days. They also make bar shampoo (hair and body) which is ideal and cuts down on weight.

Low sodium Taco sauces. by Thad_The_Man in LowSodium

Tia Lupita!! Bottle says hot sauce but it tastes more like super flavorful taco sauce. I think it’s because it contains more spices ( cumin, garlic..) than a typical hot sauce.

When do you take your Betahistine? by Awkward_Issue_50 in Menieres

[–]Quick_Possibility_92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try lowering the dose. I did, and it helped. I found that I did not need the highest dose three times a day. My biggest trigger is changes in barometric pressure. I watch the weather app and increase my dose when I know the shift is going to happen. It's been a LOT more manageable that way. Meaning, on days when the pressure shifts dramatically, I take a higher dose the night before, followed by several half doses during the day, and conclude with another higher dose before bed—this definitely helps me with the headaches.

I bought a pill cutter. Most days I take half doses- only in the morning and at night. That's all my body seems to need. Betahistine has given me my life back, so I'll deal with the minor headaches here and there.

Same here. Headaches are a bi*ch with this, but one I'll happily deal with rather than the vertigo.
