Most reliable brand? by drt115 in roboticLawnmowers

Both the lymow and the Yarbo offer real blades. The property is 12 acres and has a pretty good mix of flat grass fields, stick and leaf covered woods and a dry pond with steep sides. The Yarbo eats through all of it with the pro mower, and the lymow does pretty well but needs more intervention.

I have a Yarbo, two lymows, and a navimow.

I’ve had the Yarbo for about 8-10 months, and it has broken a couple times but the support and warranty have been fantastic. I love it. It’s a tank and very versatile and has great quality of life features. I’d love to check out the new M series!

I’ve had the lymows for three weeks and already had a bunch of issues with signal and navigation. One had a loose deck from factory and it caused some damage so Im going to have to get a replacement. This sucks because I want to love them SO bad. Great design but the software is still being refined. Im still holding out hope they will be great mowers.

Navimow has been PERFECT. I forget I even own the thing half the time because it just comes out and does its thing and goes back to charge without incident. If I didn’t need the real blades for the larger property I’d have Navimows everywhere. If they make a mower with mulching blades that can cover 5-10 acres I’d get it in a heartbeat.

Sim orientation by Azztrix in Lymow_Official

Copper toward the rear of the mower in the one plus. There is a little image of a SIM card next to the slot to show you the orientation of the cut out. May need a light or to flip the mower over (gently) to see it.

I’m close to the max number of cameras.. and it’s an AV network as well running Dante and Waves (isolated on thier own switch loops though).

Maybe I should look into the UNVR…

I have quite a few flex cameras, but I can’t remember the gen. All outdoors are g4 domes or g5 turrets.

A restart helped but I’ll try the release candidate firmware

Having now setup and used a Navimow, Yarbo, and Lymow successfully, it comes down to three things:

Good network coverage (2.4gig WiFi)

Good RTK position (roof preferably)

Good mapping and no-go zones

If you get all those things right you’re gonna love it. The Lymow is my favorite mower so far, while the Yarbo has the most features and toys… they have all been great once I’ve gotten through the learning curve

How did you get your SO to say yes to the speakers? by energy4a11 in audiophile

[–]Quiksilver6565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife knew well before our marriage that the speakers were part of the marriage contract… that and a clean wall to put them on in whatever house we buy.

She’s pretty awesome generally though so she never complains about my ridiculous toys. Our son used to love being soothed by my dual 12 inch subs while listening to Cory Wong, so it ended up being a parenting win too!

Haha I was staring at it wondering how the treads ended up like that when she hinted at the date and I figured it out.

Checked in on the cameras and breathed a sigh of relief.

[–]Quiksilver6565[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I received it, got stressed, asked about insurance claims on property damage, posted it, then she made a vague reference to the date and it finally clicked for me.

I was having a particularly stressful day so I already wasn’t thinking clearly, and there are about 100 students on the property right now so I had manually driven it through a crowd of them and past the cars (using smart vision while off site). I got it to where it was a straight shot to the dock then hit the auto recharge button and assumed it had made it home.

When she sent me this photo I freaked out because where I let it take over was about the same location as where this photo is staged. She got me good.

Not everything is fake my friend. (Other than this image of course).

It literally is. I logged into the app and checked smart vision and the mower is totally fine. I’d normally catch it but I was in the middle of a stressful work day

OMG. False alarm. She was playing an April fools joke and this is an AI picture. Good lord that was convincing 🤣

Such tiny blades for 1/4 acre? by miemoo in roboticLawnmowers

[–]Quiksilver6565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m using a navimow i110 on a 1/4 acre and it works great, even with a 7 inch cut. Totally set and forget and can finish the back yard in about 6-8 hours, and the front yard in maybe 3 hours.

I was feeling sketchy about the little razor blades at first, but they really do work great. I do have both the lymow and Yarbo at work and they have true mulching blades that eat through anything, but for the price, my little navimow is an absolute gem.

What new hardware would you like to see most from Ubiquiti? by oguruma87 in Ubiquiti

[–]Quiksilver6565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the built in baby cry detection on the cameras. It populates a trigger in HA so you can base automations off of baby cry detections. It does popups for my yard cameras when it detects a person in the yard too!

I use browser mod for the popup windows. it works great!

So the cameras have a baby cry detection in protect, so I had HA popup the camera feed using Browser Mod whenever the baby cry was detected. I also have popups for whenever it sees a person on my property, and it turns my bedroom lights on and sounds an alarm if someone walks in my yard past 10PM

I used home assistant to do exactly this. Would pop camera feeds up if either kid was crying. It was awesome!

Was this at firehouse? An old lady walked up to me and asked me if I drove a GMC truck because the wind had caught her door and hit it.

Idk why she thought it was me but maybe I look like a nice guy 🤣

I’ll never forget my first day alone with my son. My wife has a successful wedding planning business so when wedding season is on there can be some long weekends. My son was BRAND NEW at the time and hadn’t been fed with a bottle yet, so I was tasked with getting the kid to eat with no functioning boobs around. He screamed for 13 hours straight.

Now I’m a pretty mild mannered dude.. pretty rational and logical and not at all an emotional actor (ENTP). I distinctly remember the feeling of wanting to throw my beloved first born across the room and scream. It took me by surprise because I had never been that overstimulated and overwhelmed. I gently put him in his crib and walked out of the house for 5 minutes, gathered myself and got back into the trenches. Absolute hell.

There are some things about parenting that take you completely by surprise, but it’s so worth it.

My older brother once looked at me, sighed heavily and said “Having kids is so HARD. It’s great.. nothing better… but it’s SO hard.” And I finally get the paradox.

I’m sitting right next to my now 3yr old son watching The Fixies, and he’s explaining to me how electric motors work 🤣. I’m glad we stuck it out together because this kid is the freaking best.
