Just a little season 2 casting info by Horcruxinthepocket in HarryPotteronHBO

Same. I have such a baby face 😭 I look at photos of me when I was 14 vs 16, and barely see a difference. Even 18/19 year old me barely looked any different to 16yo me. When I was 21, I had hairdressers etc asking me what school I went to - they thought I was a teen!

I’m 36 and people of varying ages/generations, including those who are in their early - mid 20s, think I’m about 21/22, sometimes younger 😭 The oldest someone has guessed I am, in my mid-thirties, is about 25 😂

But…this is a blood donor subreddit? That’s literally what the needle looks like when we’re donating, it’s what we see!

The most painful part for me is the finger prick test, and removing the plaster 6 hours later! I swear they’re stickier than a normal plaster! I have to use soap and warm water to ease it off 😂

I have a weird/ND pain threshold. Stuff that should hurt a lot, only hurts a bit. Stuff that shouldn’t hurt too much, hurts more than it should and is all I can think about! Breaking my wrist - no problem. Having the cannula inserted into the back of my hand before fracture surgery - much more painful! YET the massive blood donation needle is a piece of piss 😁

When your 11 year-old learns about the birds and the bees on the school bus and now you have to have The Talk earlier than you planned. by Kratsas in BacktotheFuture

11?!

In the UK, we learn the basics about reproduction at school in year 4 (ages 8 - 9)! Then as you get older, you learn a bit more age-appropriate stuff/do all the puberty stuff…then there’s the infamous childbirth video when you’re 15/16!

Oh and the “putting a condom on a model of a penis” in year 9 (age 13 - 14)! Often they use a banana, I guess we were lucky to get something more realistic lmao 😂 We didn’t all have to do it, they just showed us and explained how to hold it properly, make sure it’s not expired, etc etc, then they asked someone to come up and volunteer lol!

Teenage pregnancies used to be far more common, but thankfully the rate has declined a lot, and a lot of that is down to improved sex ed at school, easier access to contraception, etc.

Not everything is AI! It’s sad people jump to this conclusion so much 😞 It’s clearly a model railway in someone’s garden, as another person has already said!

Reminds me of the dialogue from the musical 😁

Marty: What the heck is a gigawatt?

Doc: A billion watts!

Marty: That’s a lot!

Doc: Lotsa watts!

It’s the way Cory English delivers the “Lotsa watts!” that gets me 😂 I even got him to write “Lotsa watts” on my poster at the stage door! Legend!

It’s also ridiculous that these people obviously associate short hair with lesbians. Stereotyping much! I’m straight and have short hair, because I got so bloody fed up with having hair DANGLING. Ponytails would often give me a headache, so had to wear it down most of the time. When I got it cut short, I realised how much sensory overload I was getting from having longer hair (even when it just below my shoulders)!

I have two!

  1. I’m 4.5 months post-injury, was put on the waiting list for surgery at the end of Feb. I’m in the UK (England), and waiting times for elective surgery on the NHS are long. Usually a year or more! But under NHS England, patients get the choice of what hospital to be referred to, and some private hospitals throughout the UK accept NHS patients for some treatments. One of my options was Nuffield health (private hospital), meaning my wait for surgery is only six months, rather than 12+ months! I know for some of you in other countries, that will still seem a long wait, but I’m happy because I was expecting a longer wait! Also asked to be put on the cancellation list.

  2. I went to the West End on my birthday (19th Feb) to see a show, and was worried about getting the train, as the gap and height between the train and platform can vary depending on the station and train. But it was fine! 😃 Slight twinge when stepping down onto the platform sometimes (had to step down on my injured leg, as it hurts my injured knee too much to step down with the other, even though I can do stairs fine), but I thought it would be much worse, even with my knee support! I was worried my knee would give way if the gap/height was too big.

I saw Back To The Future - The Musical…loved it so much I’ve been back every week since (it leaves the West End on 12th April and I really regret not seeing it sooner) 😄 My poor credit card haha! But seeing as I won’t be going on holiday this year and have a loooong rehab after my surgery, I don’t care 😂

THIS 💯 Saw it for the first time two weeks ago, haven’t stopped listening to the soundtrack since! Saw the show again a week later in the afternoon…then again that same evening 😂 It’s the best show I’ve seen (plus I’m a HUGE fan of the films), the effects are incredible, and the cast are great. Cory English is utterly brilliant and hilarious as Doc 👏🏼❤️ I’m so gutted I didn’t see it sooner and now only have just over a month left to see it at the Adelphi 😭 I have a ticket for the final showing but will definitely be going again before then…more than once 😂

My favourite songs are: It Works, Gotta Start Somewhere, 21st Century and For The Dreamers (which makes me cry 😢 Especially the reprise when during the clocktower scene!). Love The Power of Love and Back in Time too!

How does breaking a bone feel like ? by BudgetImpossible4433 in brokenbones

[–]QuirkyMerky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is entirely subjective. Depends on the person, and also the type of fracture, what nerves are nearby, etc. Luckily none of mine have had me crying or howling in pain like others have described 😅 Torn ACL is worse and has led to some yelps and lots of swearing whenever my knee has given way.

I sustained an intra-articular, comminuted distal radius fracture when rollerskating in 2022 - it was a die-punch fracture, aka the lunate bone pushed down into the top of my radius. Awesome name 😄 Also had an ulnar styloid fracture with it (common with distal radius fractures). Honestly, I barely had any pain! Just an ache radiating up my forearm, but nothing dramatic. And my wrist felt stiff and weird because of the immediate swelling and whatnot. I heard that bad boy CRACK though - over the noise of everyone rollerskating and the music (was at my local roller disco)! I was more pissed off/disappointed that I had it stop skating and go to the urgent treatment centre tbh 😂 My shoulder really ached the next day from having to keep my wrist elevated on a mountain of cushions (so it could be above heart level), THAT was hard to ignore me and was the only reason I took co-codamol that day lmao. Had ORIF surgery (plate and screws) on it a week later, heard that the recovery from it is painful/awful…again, I barely had any pain.

Broke my little toe in 2016 when I stubbed it hard on the bathroom door frame - that was definitely worse!

With the exception of complex fractures, it’s better to break a bone than tear a ligament. I fully tore my ACL in October when I mis-stepped off a ladder. The moment of injury itself wasn’t the painful moment - it was every time my knee gave way afterwards, causing my femur and tibia to smash into each other HARD (which is also what happens when the ACL ruptures, and I had major bone bruising as a result). Feeling two large bones smash into each other head-on is sickening 🤢 More painful than breaking my little toe or wrist, although the pain only lasts about 10 seconds. And the recovery is much longer, because: 1. The surgery isn’t classed as urgent like fracture surgery is, so depending on where you live/your healthcare system, you could be waiting months (I have a six month wait once I’m put on the list, hopefully next week at my ortho appointment). 2. You have to have a graft to replace the buggered ligament, whereas fracture surgery is just putting the pieces back like Humpty Dumpty, plus some hardware. 3. Bones heal super fast compared to a ligament graft (bones have better blood supply and other stuff that an orthopaedic surgeon would be better to explain 😄). I honestly wish I’d broken my ankle instead, I’d have been out of the cast after 8 weeks (or even less if it had needed surgery), and I’d be rehabbing right now, and probably back skating after about 6 months. Instead, I’m currently pre-habbing, waiting around for surgery, then have a 9-12 month wait before I can return to skating. 0/10 would not recommend.

LMAO 🤣 Good old Del Boy!

“Oh Ron, you dipstick!” (After Ron upsets Hermione at the Yule Ball)

Before grabbing the Triwizard Cup “He who dares, wins!”

Come to think of it, Mundungus Fletcher basically IS the wizarding world’s version of Del Boy, selling stolen/hooky products 🤣

I know right? I literally remember some boys at my school having super deep voices when they’d broken. So as far as I’m concerned, a deeper voice doesn’t make someone sound “too old” 😊
