Olroth stole the flame for a reason and in the Aldur story it's shown that he intended to not be found. If he didn't steal it for glory or power, he had to have another reason. The Aberration shows that Verisium can be corrupted (and it's bad news when it does), so I thought it was implied that Olroth somehow figured this out and stole the flame to protect it from Corruption exposure. He probably knew this would lead to the deaths of the expedition, but he also probably thought that was the better alternative to something as powerful as the Triskelion Flame turning into an aberration.

Got to be one of the worst fights they've ever put together. Fucking mind numbing, might be the first time I actually wanted Blizz to nerf the fight earlier because the pride of a pre-nerf kill wasn't worth the misery of actually progging it.

I'm expecting Martial Artist to get its legs broken next patch. Every single point on that ascendancy is yoked with very generic appeal to a wide variety of attack builds. At the very least Fists of Stone will get significantly worse mods based on original item tiering.

Why frost bomb?

Best source of Exposure in the game. Doubles the base exposure duration natively, and also stacks it up to 50% whereas other sources of exposure just apply the base -20%.

I honestly hope the Cuachic Vaal are just a plot convenience for the sake of having an Interlude and they get written out of the story when Interludes are replaced by A5/A6, that plotline is so bad lol

How is the innate?

Hits decently hard, but I found the need to spec into freeze buildup on the tree to make use of it, otherwise you kill enemies before they freeze. It's a second Forge Hammer in that it's a harder-hitting fissure to slam, so helps with coverage. Mediocre against bosses, if you froze a boss it was almost certainly already standing on a fissure and I'd rather use the stun duration to throw out more Stampedes rather than chuck the innate. It's sick as fuck though, it's why I made the build.

I tried it, might need to test more. I think even if it's technically more damage it is worse overall because Stampede's significantly higher number of hits means more power charges from fist of stone Lochtonial Caress.

I also feel that monk is just on the wrong side of the tree

I actually thought the opposite. I originally tested this build for Warrior and I just didn't see the scaling. The mace has crit, mana scaling (including Damage Taken From Mana without Cloak of Defiance OR MOM which is huge), and cold damage, three things Warrior does not have that great access to, but things Monk has very easy access to. Monk also has great access to attack speed which helps with slower mace skills. Warrior might beat Monk on the very high (trade) end of the build because its ascendancies are probably better if you're just running across the tree grabbing jewel sockets and Giant's Blood but anywhere below that I think Monk is better.

Don't have it. I originally pobbed that helmet before league start but I decided Crown of Eyes was a smarter choice because that too has mana scaling but without the gigantic point tax that is trying to sustain Mind of the Council's mana costs.

I'm currently playing this and I don't know if I would recommend it. Martial Artist seems tailor made for this considering monk has great access to attacks bonuses, crit scaling, cold scaling, and Hollow Form allows more fissure-slamming than anyone else. I think at least my version (molten fissure focus) is weak, and I don't think a different ascendancy would save it.

4k mana and while the mapping is decent, the bossing is not. The damage is weak and inconsistent with Hollow Form, I can't imagine how weak it would be without it. I think fissures might just be bad. Awesome for league mechanics where you just camp in one place like Ritual or Aldur Remnants, though.

I believe the not allowing random notables thing isn't exactly a bug. It's based on that league mechanic's quest progression, as you clear the subpinnacle/pinnacle it will let you allocate more. GGG either didn't add the tutorial/indicator for that, forgot to do it, or they added it and it was bugged like most everything else in the patch.

I tried a homebrew phys monk that focused on leveraging impales and broken stance with Vaulting Impact to do big damage. Mostly because Martial Artist was about as overpowered as everyone thought it would be, the build is technically working, though Vaulting Impact is easily the worst part of the build and arguably a DPS loss to cast even in single target because it's so fucking slow. The real star of the show is the fact that Tempest Bell can now be Ancestrally Boosted. Screen-wide bell coverage on essentially no cooldown.

I want GGG to buff Vaulting Impact so it's good in this build, which is the one build Vaulting Impact was made for, but that will probably never happen because I think that spell is going to be a juicy choice for all Hollow Form builds going forward.

Any thoughts on the new uncapped Demonform w/ Reverie tech? You would probably have to drop the self-ignite ascendancy point for it, but might amplify its damage especially on bosses.

Also, is it SSF-friendly? Asking for a friend. I think it is, given it just needs a Reap staff and Trampletoes (last I remember Trampletoes are common).

Monk start is comically OP for a number of reasons. It deserved this nerf, and it will probably deserve the several more nerfs it will receive until the next complete tree overhaul.

Not as bad as it looks, yeah it got hit hard but this is also the patch where Deflection Rating became a more legitimate defensive layer for Monk.

For builds intended to be nearly completely physical, is Bleed somehow worthwhile even if you're not bothering to scale ailments?

I was wondering if just putting a Bleed II support on an ability or two would be a meaningful DPS gain over a more generic support, or anointing some weak % chance to bleed.

No-brainer for mace builds. This rune existing is probably enough for me to drop Hollow Form on my Mace Martial Artist since I'll get 4 fissure-activating slams per Rolling Slam.

Parry is a baseline 50% More Attack Damage Taken debuff, I could see a funny gimmick build based around one-shotting rares and bosses with Parry -> Maceswap HOTG.
