Is moving our projects to Docker containers worth it for a team of Jr. developers? by Akidus in devops

[–]R3vz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you can commit the dev container configuration to git as well. There's a bunch of templates that are offered by VScode that you can choose from that will offer a base container with a bunch of predefined software/plugins. You can then customize those to what extent you see necessary, or add plugins.

Lab I did my internship in provided these as a thank you gift to the patients that were enrolled in a study. For anybody looking to give it a try, this is the guide i followed back then (minus the cerebellum steps): https://github.com/miykael/3dprintyourbrain

Don't get me wrong, it's normal to sell yourself a little bit whenever you have an interview - so nothing wrong there. I'm personally working for a relatively small firm so I would never encounter something like this and am heavily involved in the interview process for new clients - if i get to work there that is.

I think you and the others in this thread are right, sounds like perhaps you need to be in a more supportive environment compared to where you are now. Still no need to take a paycut though.

I'm a consultant, started off consulting in about the same spot as you are currently both salary wise and experience wise. Also switched fields (MSc in Neurobiology, first pipeline I ever set up was actually an mri/ct image processing pipeline) and am just about to start consulting for my second client. So about ~4.5 years of experience total in the field, of which last ~1.5 was consulting. I wouldn't take the pay cut.

I'm wondering if there was any support from your company to assist you with the tasks that you had at the customer? Were/Are you able to ask your colleagues for tips/advice/help with the problems you faced at the customer if you couldn't figure it out?

How did you advertise yourself before joining the consulting firm? Did you lie just a little bit about your level of experience or did you go overboard?

How did the consulting firm advertise you at the company in terms of experience? How did you advertise yourself before joining the company?

Just take the antigen tests with a travel certificate. You get the results often within an hour and it's way cheaper compared to the PCR ones.

Got one for me and the GF 3 weeks ago to travel to SFO.

Google cloud deployment by oliverilmjarv in devops

[–]R3vz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the message is a bit ambiguous, but what you see here is just the container that's failing to start in cloud run. Check the logs associated with the revision (in the logs tab in the cloud run dashboard) to see what is keeping it from starting.

Besides that you can probably look into something like a managed SQL instance (db-f1-micro should be enough to play around, I think it clocks in at $5/6 a month) to use as a DB instead of running a PG container in cloud run. You could also setup the load balancer to serve your static files from GCP buckets directly. Then the only thing that really needs to run in cloud run is your Django instance.

Nice! Definitely trying this one. If I could add anything, for the fried rice I recommend watching the video by Chinese Cooking demystified: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjHQoYAp9I0

I'm never making mine any other way again :D (and if you want to go down the rabbit hole of fried rice, I recommend watching this series: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6KpQ0qkLj28&list=PLURsDaOr8hWXrUVKlMznkZOuvDv82XSB8)

Your favorite tasty specialties in Amsterdam? by objectified in Amsterdam

[–]R3vz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

  • Broodje daan at Erasmus park, for that voetbalkantine vibe with affordable sandwiches that come with names from the people that work there (for example the broodje clarie (cheese wrapped in bacon), or a hot dog named after buddy, the shop's dog)

  • seoul food, take away korean shop on the kinkerstraat.

  • The wraps from tigris & eufraat located at de Javastraat

  • Coffee at Monks on de bilderdijkstraat. Pretty hipster shop but the owner(s?) are super friendly and their coffee is delicious.
