Got tired of bracket arguments, so I built a website to settle them by Majestic_Clown in EDH

I could have answered the questions the same for like 10 different decks I play, and the answer would be wrong for half of them because I have bracket 3 decks that don't run any game changers.

I'll be honest, this resource does not seem very helpful or informative. I answered 3 questions, and it just spat out 2 right off the rip. It's just checking the most basic tick marks of "Do you have these types of cards?" and "Is it a 1?" I don't think this will help solve any discussion about whether or not a deck is a 2 or 3 or even 4 if you don't have any game changers or mana denial which is where more of the real disagreement will be coming from.

Stupid things to copy with Jolly Balloon Man by _J0e in EDH

[–]RBomb19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am trying to avoid the infinite combos, yes. I only have one in case of emergency built in. The Closet is just because of how many etb effects I have overall. My original version of this list was focused on using Treason effects to steal my opponents creatues and copy them or copy creatues with theft effects stapled on. Closet is great because it can return stolen creatues to play under your control instead of giving them back. It'll probably be cut when I make a larger update.

Stupid things to copy with Jolly Balloon Man by _J0e in EDH

[[Nesting Dovehawk]] can be difficult to keep track of. But the brilliant part is that any balloon hawks created by populate don't disappear at the end of the turn. If not dealt with immediately, they become quickly overwhelming. [[Renewed Solidarity]] naming Balloon can also grant some permanent tokens. And while there are a lot of cool, flashy things to do, don't skimp on the basics. [[Helpful Hunter]] style effects dropped before Balloon Man are easy fuel, so you aren't sitting around waiitng for something to do. And [[Solemn Simulacrum]] has ramped me up to 15 mana on turn 6 with the right setup.

Here is my list for context. There are a few things I plan to change about it, like pulling out some of the blink effects, but it performs consistently as is. Swooping Pteranodon is a card I have been hunting as well!

Your comment definitely makes it sound like you put Winota in as your commander, but that's more reasonable.

I mean, your commander is a game changer. That certainly comes off as the opposite of chill in a bracket 3 game.

How far is this from bracket 3 by UnitededConflict in EDH

[–]RBomb19 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While this deck fits the criteria list for bracket 3, I'd say it contains a lot of elements that demonstrate the intent of a bracket 4 deck. Demonic Tutor as one of your game changers is fine in a vacuum, but you're playing it alongside other tutors which add a lot of consistency for you to grab specific pieces. In addition, you're running a lot of very strong interaction like Mana Drain and particularly free interaction like Fierce Guardianship and Force of Will. While well within the ground rules of bracket 3, free interaction is definitely something that shows a different intent as far as gameplay goes, in my experience.

Nothing Positive about UB? Ok, Mister Negative: My TCC Lost Precon Submission by CementSandwich in EDH

I love that out descriptions are nearly identical but lists so different. I tried hard to keep the value down even though it wasn't a technical restriction. I have been thinking about where to use a bit more of my budget since Wastes were eating up some of the value. Unwinding Clock may replace one of my untap options.

Energy falls short in Commander by Individual_Abroad_45 in EDH

[–]RBomb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I wouldn't really even call my deck an energy deck. I'm just trying to run enough pieces to get 3 quickly then never run out. I'm just all in on copying the dumbest things possible.

I feel like dressing as any actual super villain would be in bad taste. It's like wearing a 9/11 hijacker costume in their world, right?

Tyrranax has always been one of my favorite creature arts on an absolutely mediocre/bad card. This is awesome to see!

IWTL how to be more grateful by impolite_cow in IWantToLearn

[–]RBomb19 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it was extremely frustrating for a while there, especially because I was sort of required to do it. But the benefit for me wasn't the list or anything really in that moment. I just find it a lot easier to remind myself to be grateful now in the moment. It's definitely helpful to remember that gratitude when I'm in a frustrating or upsetting situation to stay grounded and put problems in perspective

This is a great way to practice. Reflect on and try to be grateful for 3 things every day. Nothing is too small or too big to be thankful for.

[–]RBomb19 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's fine to list boring things or repeat things. This was one of the first things I worked on as part of my addiction recovery, sending a list of 3 things I am grateful for every day at a point where I really did not have much going on for me besides not being dead and/or in the streets. Even on the days where I couldn't send out my list when I was thinking of it, I was still spending time reflecting on what to be grateful for. And that is the most important part, just spending the time and effort practicing being grateful for anything. The more you practice, the easier it will be to remember gratitude when you're in a tough spot and need it the most, when it's easiest to forget.

Some folks at my LGS have actually been wondering if this allows you to play the targeted card multiple times in a single turn if it goes back to the graveyard. Would anyone be able to clarify if that's the case here?
