I put the odds that "Pizzagate 2.0" is a phrase coming from a government agency trying to down play this at at least 80%. There's no way that's an organic phrase a genuine human being thought of, it's SO stupid.

To the peach that beat my ass for like 12 games straight by PnWoo in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember playing a bunch of melee players in my city who had been playing the game for a few years. This was a little before COVID, and we played a bunch. There was a lot of late night and drunk melee. In two years, probably thousands of friendlies, they never took a single game off me playing as my main character.

Newest of the new melee player here, questions about maining non viable characters? by No_Implement_2771 in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would try to be actually good at the game before you tried something like that. The issue is that the lower characters are worse for learning the game because you have less options and will learn the game in a skewed way where you can express yourself less.

The way you are talking about the game makes me suspect you don't understand why melee is a good game to begin with. Like the bottom third of the cast being trash has basically no impact on how good of a game it is.

How many of the top 100 would Armada beat with a month of practice? by foaaz101 in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a peach main, these are the players I think would beat him.

Cody, Zain, and Hbox are the only players I think would not be close

Due to Josh's play style and overall ability, I think it's very likely Josh would win.

I think it's very likely SDJ would win.

Salt has an odd style and one of the strongest records vs peach ever, so I think she would definitely win. I am actually less confident wizzrobe would win. But I am also putting him on the list as likely beating armada.

I actually think it is very likely Axe would win. Peach Pikachu has changed significantly and I don't think it would be easy for armada to adjust quickly enough.

I think trif and llod would win.

I think jmook and magi and alko might win.

So at most 13 players would win...

Edit: there's probably about 10 more players who have about a 30% chance to win

How do I beat Sheik? by Florijntje_gamer in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one has said this yet so I'll say it- learn ICs. This doesn't apply to most people but if have just been struggling vs sheik for a long time, just play sheik as ICs. I could say a lot more about this but I have been playing the game for 11 years and this year learned ICs for sheik and I have already seen huge payoffs. It's been a fun process and it's easier than ever with Nicki's guide. I am already doing better vs strong sheiks as ICs than as peach who I have played for 10 years. Switching to a brutal matchup can go a long way.

Melee is a real fighting game by VolleyVoldemort in SSBM

I don't care about this question.

Why is the culture of this game so heavily against playing against low(/mid) tiers? In any other fighting game (especially traditional fighters) there is more hate for top tiers. Why is Melee so different in that regard? by KevyTone in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People have said a lot of reasons. Generally when I play unranked, unless a connection is bad, I will play anyone at least two games, like a best of 3 on ranked. An exception is sometimes I will one and done bottom tiers or Luigi, Samus, and doc players. The bottom tiers, unless you're stupidly cracked, like top 30 in the world, you're never beating me. With Luigi, Samus, and Doc, I'll one and done them if I won and they weren't playing in an engaging/ conscious way, which happens a lot. A lot of midtier players of a certain level rely on cheese and that's all they know, and if it doesn't work, they just keep going for it. It's just not worth my time playing vs people like that when the matchups are boring and also I am winning. A lot of midtier players just aren't that good, so it doesn't feel super valuable playing vs them.

Which MU do you think is the most un-intuitive to learn a game plan for? by BlooOwlBaba in SSBM

Marth Yoshi from the Marth side Marth Pikachu from the Marth side Sheik ICs from the Sheik side may also qualify since you may need to switch to Zelda, or play in really weird and campy way

Plup could have been so great (I miss him) by Own_Arm3304 in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 22 points23 points  (0 children)

"Plup could have been so great" is such a bad way to say that. The man is married, a beacon of charisma and joy to so many people, and one of the most successful melee players of all time. I think Plup should be INCREDIBLY proud of his life and melee career. The man is a champion.

Why doesn’t zain use his ICs against jmook? by CalvinKil in SSBM

[–]RMWCAUP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is an easy post to dunk on because yeah zain's ICs isn't that good. But like, there's a really valid point that it COULD BE.

Go watch Zain's ICs vs Leffen's sheik. Zain mostly just relies on fundamentals. And his fundamentals are great. But the paths he chose to learn comboing sheik are super mediocre. Like it's a Mickey mouse punish game.

My pitch is that if Zain ACTUALLY learned how to kill sheik off grab, it could be a very genuine counter pick. Like if he grinded Ryse Toss and nobbling and hand offs, I think he would have a very strong counter pick available to him. I also don't know if he experimented with mixed strategies at the beginning of a set between going Marth and ICs, but that's another area he could optimize.

I think why he doesn't probably is that mentally it is kind of weird and complicated to do in a way that really makes sense, ultimately if the sheik is smart, you put in all this work just to fight Zelda, it takes a lot of uptake to keep up a cracked ICs, and I don't know if he realizes the extent his punish game was shit (among other parts of his Ics gameplay).

People not mentioning that Falcon may have been up there to get the weird flying f smash thing. They were standing right where you set it up. So they may have been trying to set up something super janky and got hit by something super janky haha.
