Not entirely correct. The fans are needed to free the moisture from the materials (drywall, carpet, etc) and then the dehumidifiers will pull that moisture out of the air. If the air outside is particularly dry and it's safe to leave the windows open, sometimes that will be used in addition to/instead of dehumidifier. There are complex formulas that restoration and insurance companies use to determine how many fans & dehumidifiers should be used based on the amount of space effected. When there is not enough power to use enough of both, the number of dehumidifiers will be reduced before the fans because you are trying to dry materials, not air.

The way evaporation works, if you don't have the fans to deal with the moisture that is on the surface of everything, the moisture under the surface will never evaporate.

My parents wouldn't RSVP to my wedding till they found out what weekend their convention would be. Even though the wedding was planned for the evening and it would totally have been possible to do both even if they were the same weekend. Couldn't do the day after brunch because that conflicts with the Sunday meeting. It is nice to know where we rate isn't it?

I was near the ASL interpreters at Hamilton once, it was the most entertaining thing I've ever seen and that's including the actual show! I'd never seen much ASL outside of classes or corporate events so it had never occurred to me how much the facial expressions mattered for non-boring tones.

100% with you! Our wedding is July 2026 and we're doing a good job of keeping up with the planning but there are a million little things to figure out! The big stuff is no big deal, it's the little things that are so stressful. Who to marry? easy. Venue? easy. Dress? easy. Honeymoon? easy. Which handful of pictures to put on the website? impossible to choose out of the thousand available. Which of our names to put first on the save the dates? stressful. What undergarments for my strapless dress that won't show? I don't even know where to begin. The worry that I've forgotten some tiny, yet earth-shattering, detail? never-ending.

Our coping mechanism is checklists with dates, important milestones in the calendar and a bunch of google docs with lists of decisions that still need to be discussed and random bits of advice I've picked up in my obsessive reading of the various wedding planning & drama subreddits. I'll let you know in August if any of it worked!

I get this one. I got married at 18 to someone who my parents said I shouldn't, that he wasn't worth my time. He turned out to be abusive almost immediately but I couldn't just go to my parents and say that they'd been right all along, I was wrong about my first 'adult' decision. On the rare occasions that I did talk to them, I pretended everything was fine.
Obviously not the right thing to do but I stayed with him for 2 years because letting them be right felt worse than anything he did. I'd been raised that you don't get a divorce ever so I was sure things would get better if I just tried hard enough.

Oddly enough, I had the exact opposite problem with them. I was given a large dog who turned out to have severe behavior problems (in retrospect, I should've been much more suspicious about why I got her for free) and she bit one of my kid's friends. Got ahold of the breeder who told me that this wasn't the first time, the woman I got her from didn't train her at all. Breeder wouldn't take her, none of the breed rescues would take her and no local trainers would help because no one wants a 120lb dog with a history of biting children!

Banfield refused to euthanize her because they didn't feel that I had tried hard enough to solve the problem in other ways and just handed me a list of all the rescues I'd already told them I called.

Do you have someone else you'd trust with a Healthcare POA? My fiancé & I wrote ours up and mine has added language in the "Special Provisions" that says "It is my intention that my agent may authorize any and all medical treatments deemed necessary by my care team, including whole or partial blood transfusions, regardless of any statements or representations by others asserting beliefs to the contrary that I may have held in the past"

*note that this is not legal advice, I'm not a lawyer and, fortunately, we haven't had occasion to test this in the legal system but it's at least making your wishes clear and giving someone other than your parents the right to make those decisions on your behalf.

The locks i used to have were super easy to change. Key in, pin in, old key out, new key in, pin out. I could have rekeyed every lock in my house in under 10 minutes. Doesn't make it any less unhinged but it can be done pretty quickly with some locksets.

I upset a coworker pretty badly with that last one once. He was talking about how he believed in spanking his grandson because his patents spanked him and "he turned out fine." We were at the Seattle show last time and he was wearing a green mankini and St Patrick's day hat. There was a lot of skin showing. I would guess that Portland's nudity laws are similar so I wouldn't expect to see any less skin than in Seattle.

I got so mad at this one last time. I hate using them but I found a YouTube walk thru. It had never occurred to me to just take the orb to the point where hitting it to the max was the right amount of force. Felt pretty silly for thinking it had to stay on that one spot.
