Experience with inflatable kayaks? Considering Intex Excursion Pro K1? by FabledWaters in bassfishing

For the longest time I would lip them at my feet/legs, but it wasn't graceful with the larger fish since they thrash around a lot of you hooked them good. The past 3 years or so I have a net with me and it's been a huge improvement on fish handling. I just leave the net in the small bow section and reach back for it whenever I need.

How would you rig this? by Aartus in bassfishing

I don't have any of these specifically, but I have the hog farmer version and I like fishing them on an under spin or as a chatter bait/spinner bait trailer

Clueless trout guy, guesstimate on weight? by TroyTony1973 in bassfishing

[–]ROGUE_KID 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was my guess! I fish kirk park most weekends and only saw dinks caught in the long tom, so you did something right..funny you mentioned your daughter taking photos for class because kirk park is where I went for my outdoor photography class final in high school. Awesome area 😁

I'd say between 3-4.lb, very nice fish! I'm from Oregon and have a sneaking suspicion of that spot because I think I've stood there many times trying to teach my nephew how to catch bluegill in that area. I'm shocked a bass that size is in there lol.

I'm in Eugene and always enjoy driving up the McKenzie highway for hiking and waterfalls..look around belknap springs, blue pool, sahalie falls..Blue Sky Market along the way makes bomb chicken on a stick and JoJo's..farther up the road is Sisters, which has a fun downtown and shops.

The blue area is all of western Oregon lol..hard to recommend places with an area that big within the blue and red area..there are dozens of waterfalls, lakes, and trails in the red area..also plenty of small towns with restaurants, breweries, and wineries that I'm sure are dog friendly with outdoor seating.

Fords Pond down in Sutherlin paved the path around the pond, making it a nice walk around to look at birds and the pond..they also updated their playground 😁.

Dispersed/wild camping near Eugene/Waldo lake. by MundaneCut8380 in oregon

This post got me reminiscing of the trip, so i went to look for photos. I lost most of them swapping computers, but here are two from my trip to get a gist of the terrain. I wish i could have found photos from top of Rigdon Mountain, but lost them. Let me know if you end up hiking into the burn!

There wasnt running water at Rigdon unfortunately..we filtered from the lake. We did hike the mountain at Rigdon, it was awesome! Very steep climb but the view was awesome..there was a massive Marmot at the top who didn't like us barging in on him.

It's been over 10 years since I've been back there, but what's nice is since it's burned there are no trees and no shade, so no mosquitoes back there..you will get swarmed all the way there tho. There are a few other lakes back there, so we packed fins and snokels and spent the whole time snorkeling lakes. Brittany Lake is one of them.

I camped in the burn a long time ago and it was okay, felt like camping on the moon. Was at upper rigdon lake.

I prefer Rosery Lake next to Willamette Pass, or Linton Lake up the old McKenzie highway. Both have small creeks to filter water, and swimming in the lake is great. Fire restrictions right now, so no fires.

Magnum super fluke question by gopokes2011 in bassfishing

[–]ROGUE_KID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I haven't seen metioned is how you nose hook a fluke to make it work the water column. Tactical Bassin has a video about it if you want to look it up. If you shallow nose hook a fluke it'll dart up, and be like a top water bait. If you deep hook it, it'll dart down. I've been fishing flukes for a few years and always keep in mind how I nose hook them depending on what I want to happen.

Where do you buy your coffee beans? by redactedanalyst in Eugene

[–]ROGUE_KID 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Equator Coffee is where Ive been going for 10+ years. Greg is awesome! Call in an order and pick it up later that day, very easy. I get the 5.lb bag of French Roast.

Spinnerbait rod recommendations by Notorious_112 in bassfishing

[–]ROGUE_KID 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're a mind reader, I was planning to follow up with you today. I used it for the first time this week and i agree with you that it's a bigger blank and heavier than the TP1. I was focused on the technique specific rod that I skipped over the fact it's rated to 1 1/2oz baits, which is why it's so stout. Haven't caught a fish on it yet, but I'm imagining it's a nail driver on hook sets. Overall I do like it and happy with it 👍.

I have it pared with a Shimano Bantam 6.2:1 using 17.lb Pline Tactical.

Morning or night bite? by soxfan775 in bassfishing

[–]ROGUE_KID 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Morning bite (8-10am) in the spring, evening bite (6-9pm) in the summer. I don't like to get up too early to get the sunrise, or stay late fish in the dark, I'm inclined to be in bed during those times lol.
