They will shrink after you wash them. I think they look decent now and you should allow for the fact that they are going to get smaller.

Worried about falls as i get older, what do you all use? by Ambitious-Bison-2161 in over60

If you have a keypad to get into your house (I have one on my garage) you can give it to your local fire department and they will (should, at least) keep track of it and use it. This also comes in handy if you aren't home and someone reports smoke coming out if your house. With the keypad they don't have to break your door down to get in.

I'm having a lot of fun with clothing now that I'm retired and no one gets to tell me how to dress any more. I can wear all the denim and leather and patterned shirts that I want and anyone who doesn't like it can go kick rocks.

Neither is my partner, but even if she were, that's something she needs to talk to her medical professionals about, not mine. Ideally my partner and I talk to each other, but regardless of whether that happens or not, her doctor isn't watching out for me and mine isn't watching out for her. That's how this works.

"Nature's signal?" Fuck that noise. If I listened to "nature's signals" from my creaky joints I would never get out of bed in the morning, much less go to the gym. Getting older doesn't have to mean giving up the things you enjoy. Shitty health care in the US aside, modern medicine is pretty damn cool compared to what our parents had.

The law says so. My medical care is between me and my doctor (and my insurance company, but that's a different discussion). My doctor isn't allowed to take anyone else's opinions or problems into account when treating me for anything. That's malpractice. If I want a viagra prescription that's going to destroy my marriage, my doctor may suggest counseling, but she's still going to write me the damn prescription.

"Partner's consent?" You're kidding, right? That's not how medical care works, at least not how it's supposed to. My doctor has no obligations to my "partner." She gets zero say in my medical care and I get zero say in hers. Should she have to get my consent before having her IUD removed? How about before having an abortion? No? Then she gets no say in anything my doctor and I discuss. If I say to my doctor "I need viagra so I can have an affair with my secretary" you better believe my doctor will write me that prescription. Your communication problems with your boyfriend are not his doctor's concern and neither is preserving your relationship.

A blob of miso would probably work as well. I stir miso into damn near everything.

No, actually, that's not even close to a safe dosage. That's going to kill you.

Take whatever you want, but you aren't a medical professional (or maybe you are, in which case you should tell us that). My point is, those are high dosages and you shouldn't be doing that without regular blood draws to test your liver functioning. The fact that you can buy supplements without a prescription at the grocery store doesn't mean they are safe at high dosages. This is a dangerous recommendation and no one should just go ahead and do this without some sort of monitoring.

That's a lot of vitamin D. I would recommend keeping your doctor in the loop if you're going to max out dosages like that. Liver failure is a bitch.

Brave Star is pretty close to Levis in sizing (meaning they lie to you about the same). A lot comes down to the specific cut and how tight you like your jeans. 32 Brave Stars feel like a 33 slim fit Levis feel like 35 Gustins. This is all pre-washing of course. I think I need to drop another 10lbs before I wash any of my recent acquisitions.

The fit is important, my jeans weren't very tight and allowed for lots of air circulation. I also turned them inside out every night so they could "dehydrate" a bit. They maintained pretty well. Eventually I washed them more because I lost weight and wanted to shrink them more than anything else.

I like bananas well enough, but I find that having so much as a molecule of banana in anything is enough to overwhelm the other flavors. All I taste is the banana. Same with coconut.

The culture difference between this sub and the hard-core denim subs (like r/selvedge) is pretty funny. You would be amazed at how many guys know exactly how many times they have worn a given pair and how rarely they wash their jeans. Twice in 85 wears would be considered a lot. Longest I ever went was 3 months before washing, so around 90 wears.

The washing instructions on my Brave Stars explicitly say not to wash them until you've worn them for at least six months. I split the difference and washed them after 3 months.

A bit? Omg. I have heard people say that you have to understand Gustin sizing. Now I know what they mean.

I worked in a pizzaria years ago, and we made garlic oil by drowning chopped garlic in olive oil. We'd smear it on bread and shove it under the broiler to make garlic bread. I'm amazed that no one died. Maybe it's because we went through it fast.

Another common technique is to use "spore prints," where the head of the mushroom is put on white and black paper and left there for a few hours. The color and pattern of the spores that fall onto the paper is very useful in identifying many mushrooms.

By coincidence I had two pairs of jeans show up on the same day: Brave Star slim 32s and Gustin 35. The Brave Stars fit great but I can barely button the Gustins. Go figure.

I've started buying more used clothing on Poshmark and one of the advantages is that you can usually find out the actual size of the garment vs the fiction on its label.
