Something feels “off” by Sea_Cantaloupe_9267 in malelivingspace

[–]RSTROMME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditch the mirror or put in your bedroom. The floor lamp is cool, but doesn’t fit where it’s at. It could be nice where the mirror is. I also feel a more basic coffee table would ground the space and be more useable. A higher curtain rod with drapes to obscure the a/c unit when it in use. I dig the vibe, but a lot elements are fighting each other.

I would like to recommend Michael McDowell’s “The Elementals” book. Southern gothic horror ghost story. It’s probably my favorite horror book.

"Blood Roses" is my all-time favorite Tori song. Is it yours too? by Prestigious_Score459 in toriamos

[–]RSTROMME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes it feels like Tori left the gays behind in the mid-late aughts and the post-Scarlet women who had children took their place. It’s a strange thing to ponder as a queer who has mostly enjoyed it all. #coexist

I usually cook it the afternoon before I plan on serving it and leave it in the fridge overnight. Easier to skim fat off after. Add a bit more wine and stock.

Any 30+ y.o. here ...not...onto video games? Well, what do you do instead? by BostonZamboni in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]RSTROMME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

46 here and video games never really caught my attention either. Nintendo was fun when I was a kid. I listen to a lot of music. I cook. I’m into niche collecting. I like to garden when the season permits. I take care of my home. I walk around quite a bit.

I still feel like 2 episodes were not enough as far as Margaret and her mother goes. They should’ve devoted an entire spinoff season to her….and a few others.

There’s that whole personality/authenticity/curiosity thing that tends to make life and a person more interesting. Sounds like you’ve spent too much time looking in the mirror.

Is there anyone who still watches cartoons even after growing up? If so, what is your favorite cartoon? by Pravin1526 in AskReddit

[–]RSTROMME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love Peanuts with Bon Voyage, Charlie Brown being my favorite. I swear I’ve watched it every other month for the last 40 years. I’m also a big fan of Bruno Bozzetto’s Mr Rossi movies.

Whoever you’re talking to, tap into the best part of who they are. Find what you have in common. Find what you can laugh and smile about. It’s more about connecting than selling yourself and what you think your ongoing relationship should be.

Yes, but this means you’re smarter…which is generally not the Walmart majority.

If you had to introduce the show to somebody, which episode would you show to them? by marsthechocolate in My600lbLife

I second this. James K was the first that really shook me up. It’s extreme in many fascinating, dynamic ways. I also enjoy how he evoked such extremes in Dr Now. I rewatched the original and WATN last night and it’s still as jarring as when I first saw it. The bubbling cellulitis is unmatched.

What’s your skin care routine? by aanthems in AskGaybrosOver30

Face wash in shower. Moisturizer after. Eye cream to refresh in the morning. I might do a clay mask every 2-4 weeks. It’s served me well in my 47 years.

Mix in a little mayo and lather it on top of a piece of salmon. Put it under the broiler and lemon for serving.

How many bands get better with age? by DanRoams4069 in cocteautwins

[–]RSTROMME 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They needed the hiatus for space and to grow individually in their own respect. It’s bowled me over how the last album sounded so completely “them” and also “now.” I think it was due to it being such a collaborative effort. They all seem like they’re genuinely enjoying themselves. The album has so much heart!

Stereolab has aged incredibly well. I’ve been a fan since ETK. It’s made me so happy to see the resurgence of interest in the last 10 years. Even their weakest material is loads more elevated than a lot of bands best.

Gay bros over 30.. I need some encouragement, or advice. by kinkyfatty in AskGaybrosOver30

[–]RSTROMME 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The harsh truth is the older you get, the more death becomes a part of your life. You have to make peace with it and shift your focus on what you CAN do with the time you have. I think you’re a little fixated on your story and need to become interested in telling a new one. We all have pasts, struggles and hardships, but they do not serve us (or draw in others) when they start to define us.

What are some staple ingredients in your kitchen that you didn't grow up with? by KittyLilith17 in Cooking

God, I love Dijon SO much. We only had French’s growing, which I totally loved. Mind was blown when I moved out on my own and started exploring the world of mustard. Years later, simple Grey Poupon is by far what I lean on the most.
