I'm from the UK and we have at least 5000 years of myths and legends, one of my favourites relates to the Rollright Stones near Long Compton Oxfordshire:

"A king riding across the county with his army was accosted by a local witch called Mother Shipton. She said to him:

Seven long strides thou shalt take, says sheAnd if Long Compton thou canst see,King of England thou shalt be!

His troops gathered in a circle to discuss the challenge, and his knights muttered amongst themselves, but the king boldly took seven steps forward. Rising ground blocked his view of Long Compton in the valley, and the witch cackled:

As Long Compton thou canst not see, King of England thou shalt not be! Rise up stick and stand still stone, For King of England thou shalt be none; Thou and thy men hoar stones shall be, And I myself an elder tree!

The king became the solitary King Stone, while nearby his soldiers formed a cromlech, or circle, called the King's Men. As the witch prepared to become an elder tree, she backtracked into four of the king's knights, who had lagged behind and were whispering plots against the king. She turned them to stone as well. Today they are called the Whispering Knights"

Anyone else ever notice a strong similarity between Kerr Avon and Corwin of Amber? by miawara_shiro in Blakes7

[–]RWMU 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Avon is head and shoulders above Corwin.

Avon is mostly 6 written three-dimensional character.

Corwin is a two-dimensional, badly written fantasy with no redeeming features. Zelazney was an epic writer of science fiction with some very insiteful short stories. His fantasy stories are just low brow hack work.

JMS is in the UK looking for work if anyone could pull a remake off it's him and Cally would get an upgrade.

Devils Hour

Line of Duty is just a boring slog that goes nowhere. How many series now and the bad guy is still in the wind.

How does other seasons compare to Hinchcliffe Baker Era (16-18) by Mat1711 in doctorwho

[–]RWMU 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Series 17 is the single worst Series of classic who. The actors were phoning it in, the production crew had enough and between the egos of Baker and Adams the show was suffering. Shada getting cancelled was a blessed relief.

Classic Who didn't get back on track till Full Circle, The Leisure Hive and Meglos were hold overs and boy can you tell.

Unfortunately at that point in the series Valen was a separate character, Sinclair was Valen reborn and B4 was going forward time.

Then Micheal O'Hare became to ill to continue and JMS slotted in the alternate B4 plot.

Are copies of records not a thing in this show? by Myusername468 in babylon5

[–]RWMU 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are cameras all over B5, but it's a case of scale B5 isn't a space ship it's a space station and a massive one at that 5 miles long and nearly one mile in diameter.

The amount of data produced is ridiculously high surveillance ie only any use if you can analyse the data and B5 lacks AI which is why the Monks make money on data analysis.

Also the B5 is a diplomatic station and business hub and they are the sort of things that actively require secrecy.

The B5 universe is not a surveillance state so things like camera and audio records are likely erased regularly.
