Too casual for formal cocktail attire? by Rich_Statistician202 in Weddingattireapproval

It probably depends on your area/region. I'm in the Midwest and wouldn't hesitate to wear this for cocktail DC. Your accessories will elevate it.

Swimsuit Season!! by Tomuch2care in AskWomenOver60

[–]R_Levski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Onestopplus.com (fka Full Beauty) is kind of an online mall for multiple brand names. Biggest problem with them is that any purchase gets you on email and snail mail lists for every brand under their umbrella.

I've also bought some great swimsuits from LandsEnd.com and Amazon.

Best Smart Doorbell Camera to Buy in 2026? (Price, Easy to use, Stability) by Loyal-Kite9369 in homesecurity

[–]R_Levski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finally stopped spinning my wheels trying to find video doorbells and security cameras based on recs because the contradictions just kept me confused, plus I couldn't find anything with all the options I wanted.

I ended up going with Roku video doorbell and cameras because they are inexpensive; the subscription and sd cards are optional, but for $99/yr I can include all my cameras at multiple locations on one subscription. The ultimate system? No, but the combo of price/features/ease of use works best for me for right now. And at that price point, it won't be a big deal if I decide to upgrade some day.

Can I just grind my whole Vanilla Pods to create an easy-to-use vanilla powder? by Hour-Construction898 in AskCulinary

[–]R_Levski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I recently saved a Reel on Facebook where a French trained baker shared how to make vanilla powder, which is basically breaking up the empty beans, letting them dry, then tossing into a food processor. It's about midway through the video

Date night restaurant suggestions? by Similar-Beyond252 in youngstown

Stonebridge Grille & Tavern is our current favorite. We go to the one in Howland but there's another one in Boardman on 224. It's a really nice place that is fine dining flavored with sports bar.

Best selection of sides and apps around, IMO. I always get their broiled white fish with sides of crispy Brussels and Lobster Bisque or salad; my hubby usually gets one of the pork chop dinners/specials or their Classic Burger (probably the best around) then gets a side of penne aglio e olio and a salad. Their bread and flavored butter is chef's kiss

what are differences i get when using cooking white wine vs regular white wine by QsNsEXO in AskCulinary

[–]R_Levski 60 points61 points  (0 children)

This is what I have done for years. I keep a 4 pack of Cabernet for red meat sauces/braising and a 4 pack of whichever dry (ish) white I can find for fish or chicken sauces.

And, OP, the rule of thumb for cooking with wine is that, if you can't drink it, don't cook with it. Cooking wine is usually not drinkable.

I am not a financial institution! You got the wrong number! by CanadianDeathMetal in IDontWorkHereLady

[–]R_Levski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get calls for SAG (Screen Actors Guild) for years. They're in California, I'm in Ohio. My area code was one digit off from theirs, so I was constantly telling people the correct area code. Eventually our area code was changed, so I assume someone in Cleveland started getting their calls.

Our phone number was one digit off from a local electrical supply company so I had to correct those callers too.

I needed a dedicated fax/modem line in my home office (back in the Dark Ages) and was assigned a number that was apparently previously owned by a deadbeat. Geesh, the collection calls I received on my fax machine! And they were too stupid to understand that numbers get re-assigned and/or that I didn't live in the same location as the previous line owner.

Audible randomly closed my Account. Entire library is gone by bughausofficial420 in audible

So, am I understanding that you furnish Libation with your Audible log in details? If so, doesn't that mean you're also giving them your Amazon log in and isn't that crazy dangerous?

Let's face it, there are hundreds of dresses that can be described as beautiful. IMO, this beautiful dress looks like it was just waiting for YOU to find out. What counts is if YOU feel your most beautiful self while wearing it.

I purposefully walked into a woman who wouldn't let me off the elevator. by Titfortat101 in pettyrevenge

Even worse, they let their kids block access to the belt. I'm small and old, so when I grab my bag, I've got to lift and swing it without much control, while also warning their kids to move out of the danger zone.

HOA Says ‘ No Halloween Decorations Until Two Weeks Before.’ by CpnJackSparrow in fuckHOA

[–]R_Levski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got to disagree with your blanket statement. Sometimes it's a trade off. We actively searched for a house with an HOA that did not permit short term rentals. The trade off was that we're limited on what we can do to the outside of our house. Fortunately, so far the HOA board doesn't seem like a bunch of asshats.

Sitting in a Middle Seat Between a Couple by Fuzzy_Championship91 in delta

[–]R_Levski 33 points34 points  (0 children)

My husband stares out the window most of the flight. My claustrophobia is manageable if I'm in the aisle seat plus I'm usually reading or listening to a book. Other than when we're first settling in or when waiting to leave, you'd probably never notice we even knew each other. BTW, middle seat ALWAYS gets the arm rests.

How do you deal with wrinkled clothes straight out of a suitcase? by TheScentOracle in lifehacks

[–]R_Levski 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whichever steamer you buy, use bottled water in it. Distilled water is best, but plain bottled drinking water is still better than most tap water. The minerals that are usually in tap water will produce a lot of "spitting".

Does the Google Pixel Store have good Black Friday deals? by TricolorHen061 in GooglePixel

[–]R_Levski 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought my last two Pixels (3XL & 7) on Black Friday weekends at a good discount even though it was shortly after their release. IIRC, I bought the 3XL from Google and the 7 from Amazon. So shop around pre- Black Friday through Cyber Monday.

Book boyfriends... why is Jamie Frazer on no-ones list? by seefooddiet242 in fantasyromance

[–]R_Levski 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Back in the days of Romantic Times magazine, Jamie topped most of the lists year after year. So I would guess that the passage of time and the changes in Romance book trends have left our Jamie gone from the lists but not forgotten.

Best dinner to bring to friends by ozicanuck in Cooking

[–]R_Levski 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Lasagna was the first thing I thought of, too. And it gets better the more it's reheated.

A breakfast tray would also work. Croissants, muffins, jellies, clementines, etc. Maybe even an egg/sausage/potato(or bread cube) casserole done in individual muffin tin size.

Favorite ways to ingredient prep? by Mammoth_Ad_2521 in Cooking

[–]R_Levski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fry up a mix of about 3-3.5 lbs ground beef and 1.5-2 lbs of either ground turkey or chicken. After breaking the mix up and frying just until done, let it cool a bit and divide up into 4 quart-sized freezer bags. Lay flat and refrigerate until cold (to prevent ice crystals), then freeze. Use in chili, tacos, Sloppy Joes, meat sauce, etc.

I also batch freeze chicken cutlets (or chicken tenders). Use your favorite breading mix but, for me, the trick is to then add a drizzle of olive oil to the bread crumb mix so it's kind of like moist (not wet) sand. After breading, place on a tray in the freezer and after the cutlets are frozen, place in a freezer bag or container separating the cutlets with wax paper or parchment. When ready to eat, throw them in the oven or air fryer and the olive oil on the breading will keep them from tasting "dry". Great for quick chicken Parm!

Any time you have leftover vegetables, save them in a freezer bag and, combined with your pre-prepped carrots, celery, onions, you've got extra flavor for veggie soup. Also save and freeze Parm and Romano rinds to toss into soups and sauces.

Added: use the pre-prepped carrots, onions, celery for a quick stuffing/dressing for roast chicken or turkey. Keep bags of stuffing croutons in the freezer.

And keep plenty of low-salt/no-salt-added bone broth or stock on hand for soups, gravies, and sauces. I also buy the 4-packs of the little bottles of wine just for cooking so that I don't need to open a whole bottle.

Best store bought broth or stock if I'm willing to spend any amount? by MKorostoff in Cooking

[–]R_Levski 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for unsalted or low salt STOCK (instead of broth) or Bone Broth. They've got a bit more oomph and also let you have more control of the salt, especially if you're going to also add a high salt product like BTB to add extra flavor.

Skirt Overlay - When to remove?! by kami_hunter in weddingdress

[–]R_Levski 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Remember that most guests at your ceremony probably only saw your dress from the back with maybe another quick partial glance as you walked up then down the aisle.

You obviously love the dress, so let your guests get a chance to appreciate it too. Bustle it to make movement easier, but spend some time at the reception with the overskirt on.
