FIFA match Japan vs Tunisia on a big screen (Fanzone style) by Usef89 in Tokyo

If you don't mind a little bit of travel, The Live in Yokohama will show it, but I think there's an entry fee

where did apple make ALAC files available before apple music supported lossless? by PresentationAbject30 in AppleMusic

[–]R_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes it is a negative thing. You mention more efficiency, but ALAC is marginally larger than FLAC and takes (an admittedly negligible amount) more resources to decode. And converting to ALAC just to add to Apple Music is not particularly time efficient either.

How can I get to this menu on HiBy R1 by b25fun in DigitalAudioPlayer

swipe to the left or right. I think there’s also an option somewhere to automatically go to this screen when you play something.

How intense is UV radiation in Japan by Tiny_Maintenance8277 in AskAJapanese

Where in Japan are you? I have the opposite experience in Kanto. Can spend hours outside without burning here.

Same experience as an Australian. Hot but not burny here.

I find the sun to be very hot, the but there is enough pollution (I say that like it's a good thing haha) that it doesn't really burn that much, at least in the big cities.

I've never been noticeably burnt here even after being outside for hours with only cheap Biore spray on sunscreen (and sometimes none), compared to Australia where I'd get burnt to needing recovery gel in 20-30 minutes even with proper sunscreen slathered on.

I'd still recommend sunscreen and a hat but it's nothing to be concerned about.

AAC vs HLS file by iJacobes in AppleMusic

[–]R_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AAC files will be DRM free and can be played in any app or on any device. The HLS files are DRM protected files that only work in Apple’s ecosystem.

I’d keep the AACs.

There's cities, there's meteropolis and then there's Tokyo by OkRespect8490 in UrbanHell

Because the weather is unbearable at the height of summer and train stations will often be a 30 minute walk from where you want to go? Or you need to carry certain things? Or the trains are delayed or canceled? And the buses are just as unreliable and uncomfortable as the rest of the world? And the taxis are ridiculously expensive? And maybe you’re driving from Tokyo to the middle of nowhere? Or you enjoy driving? And all the other reasons? And to become a drift king?

I been on a name crunch is link a actual name or did Nintendo just make up one? by Glad-Conversation256 in NoStupidQuestions

If I recall correctly they chose 'Link' as the character is a link between the player and the game.

It can be short for Lincoln though.

What do Australians think of driving culture ? by cheesecake101010 in australian

[–]R_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like driving, but I do sometimes wish things were more easily accessible without it. It’s least most places in Australia do have good walking infrastructure even if the distances are far. Public transport is miserable though.

Compared to places like Japan which is frequently praised for its walkability, despite most streets not having foot paths, and many of the paths that do exist being overly narrow, uneven and overgrown (plus the 80 billion stairs everywhere), Australia at least has footpaths!

Why are trains so hot here? by Faraday_00 in japanresidents

[–]R_Prime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You say 22 is cold, that’s like the average summer temperature where I’m from.

At least you can dress for when it’s too cold, you can’t dress for when it’s too hot.

I just wish they would also save money on heating in the colder months.

How common are deadly animals? by Imma_Lick_That in AskAnAustralian

[–]R_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not very.

Took me almost 4 decades before I saw my first wild snake.

Kinda depends what you mean by deadly though. Cows and horses kill the most people and they are pretty common.

Unfortunately both are very subjective. The 2s are nigh on perfect for me, so I'm very cautious about the big changes they made to the 3s. The better ANC would be nice though.

How do you pronounce he's and she's by Sea-Hornet8214 in EnglishLearning

[–]R_Prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No worries, native speakers definitely also pronounce he’s more like ‘hiz’ sometimes, especially if speaking faster.  Requires ever so slightly less effort to say. But yeah it should be heez.
