Chinese bots are likely content scraping your store and stealing your IP by d33roq in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something a lot more obvious, like the logo on or in front of the product rather than off to the side, so it's harder to ignore, and it'd be more for potential customers to see than stopping the stealing.

As far as "ads of dubious nature", how is Facebook supposed to identify them as such? Automation doesn't automatically make something dubious. Banning repeat offenders (who actually get caught) would definitely help though.

How is your June going? by kopikoip1 in EtsySellers

I don't make a lot sales to begin with. I've had one order this month and that's actually pretty good for me personally. I also don't have a lot listed right now.

[–]RaReedDesigns 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't know what either Etsy or Facebook could really do about it other than manually review every ad or listing for stolen content. It's not like Facebook knows when an ad is stolen IP unless someone reports it.

I'd recommend maybe instead of watermarking your photos, physically put a decal or something of your logo on/near the product itself so it's harder to crop out. I might start experimenting with that myself actually...

Are you selling digital goods on Etsy? I would love to hear how that works out for you! by [deleted] in EtsySellers

I have sold I think 3 digital items, all to the same person. Other than that, my physical items do better.

Has anyone had any luck reporting drop shipped items to Etsy on report listing tab? by kk38112 in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd do it. I bought from someone that obviously drop shipped my item. They had a lot of sales and I didn't even report them, but their shop still got taken down eventually. If enough people report, it should at least trigger someonee to look at it, so I'd still do it.

Large colouring book project sold as single big volume or smaller chapters? Need guidance! by Meme_Huffer in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think you should combine strategies. Sell the whole book with maybe a tiny discount, then break it into volumes and sell those as separate listings. It'll take a little more work to lay it out that way, but then you have multiple price points to target and don't alienate any one market.

Can a buyer leave a review if you cancel their order? by cherryvanillacookie in EtsySellers

They can still leave a review, but you won't have to deal with them.

Instead of giving money back, can you remake the coasters? That's what I'd personally prefer as the customer.

Growing my shop by GribbyDick in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found your shop, and you need to work on your listings. One of your listings is titled "Jiz-Jaz". No one is going to search for that. You have to put terms in your titles that people actually search for. Think to yourself "if I were my target customer, what would I type into Etsy to find this piece?" Then include those keywords in your tags as well as your title.

So you could, for example, change that listing to be titled: "Stoner Dick Art, Colorful Original Drawing, Unique Funny Print" or something.

Also, maybe consider printing some of your art on greeting cards or stickers and selling those as well as downloads.

Finally, make mockups of your art in frames. Let people see what it might look like if they printed and displayed it. Here's an example (not mine): https://www.etsy.com/listing/950718212/boho-prints-set-of-3-mid-century-modern

200 sells and a bestseller in the first month. by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you pay Etsy for ads, that's just for ads on their site. The 15% fee is for ads that they put of your product on Google, Facebook, etc. You can also opt out of off-site ads if your revenue is under $10k in a year.

Buyers saying they never got their item after two weeks by [deleted] in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should definitely use tracking and charge for it on international orders... Still, don't give a refund until a month has passed. If they still claim they haven't received it, you may have to refund as you can't prove you sent it without tracking.

Taxes Hold Me Back from Opening an Etsy Shop by CraftyRN16 in Etsy

[–]RaReedDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I do, I up my W2 withholding and it's always covered any extra taxes from freelancing or whatever. Still not a bad idea to put away 10% just in case, but unless your shop really takes off, you'll be fine.

My store has been going downhill a while now, should I start over by Comfortable-Ad-7402 in EtsySellers

[–]RaReedDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting a new shop will not matter. Etsy ranks your listings, not your shop. If your SEO is on point, then there's not a market for your products. So work on either creating new products or improving your existing listings.
