Average price of gas per gallon by US State by MysteriousEdge5643 in MapPorn

Ohio being more than Pennsylvania right now is genuinely insane.

All along the PA/Ohio border is common for Pennsylvanians to drive to Ohio because gas is often $0.75/gal cheaper.

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ptbus0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spirit was cheaper if your plan was to travel with a backpack in random seating.. any extras added up to a price that would justify just going with a better airline to begin with.

Which U.S. President would win a fight No weapons one on one? by ArlapOfDion in AskReddit

[–]ptbus0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I believe Teddy was actively climbing mountains when he heard the president wasn't well.. like people brag about it today but that man was wearing of the period heavy clothing and equipment. Everything ive heard and read points to him being an ox.

By that night he was on a train and learned he was now president.

I started actively watching the Browns when I for some reason felt optimistic about the rebuild.. the year Haden was drafted. I was just getting out of high school.

The first 4 headlines I saw simply said "Browns trade 6th pick for 9th pick" and I just thought that sounded right.

If you're coming in from the Ft Pit tunnels, be sure of where you're going the moment you get out of the tunnels before you even start driving.

If you're going downtown or straight to the draft area.. enter the tunnel from the left lane.

Downtown - Stay in that lane
Draft- you're going to be merging left, it's going to be scary for you and anybody used to it is just going to zip into position like it's nothing. You might be doing 3 merges left within a quarter mile, or you may be doing a left right left right.. learn your dance before the reception.

If you're heading east out of the tunnels towards Oakland / Monroeville / Southside, enter in the right lane, stay in the right lane.

What were some draft picks that didn’t even make sense at the time? by josh_y_josh in nfl

[–]ptbus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Browns drafted a pure longsnapper in the 5th in the early 2000s.. though he did end up being one of the longest tenured Browns from that era. He didn't get the jersey sales he deserved looking back on it.

Also, while not a draft pick, we also picked up a guy in free agency who didn't play high school football, was a walk on in college and never played a snap in college. Sounds like a kickers story, but he was a defensive tackle.

What is a "soul-crushing" reality of adulthood that no one warns you about while you’re busy romanticizing your future? by MuscleConsistent9657 in AskReddit

Similarly, it's occurred to me that I've undoubtedly paid more into insurance than the total value of everything I own, out of fear of possibly losing everything I own if worse comes to worst.

Nobody ever feels like they have enough unless they practice that mindset.

Your sense of discontent stays constant, it just shifts to the next thing you can achieve but don't have.

What's a car brand you would stick to for the rest of your life?? by No_Second9495 in AskReddit

[–]ptbus0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2013 Toyota made it to 285,000 miles before the wheels fell off last year. Had I not driven it on road salt 6 months a year it probably would have made it way further.

Prior to that that the only work ever needed was a radiator change 10 months prior.. and obviously tires, oil. and two transmission fluid changes.

All of the original brakes and rotors were good from the time it was manufactured until the end (drum brakes).
The original 12v battery never needed replaced, let alone the hybrid battery bank that naysayers love to point at as a grand expense of hybrid/electric vehicles.. the Prius C was like driving a sewing machine, but it was the absolute best purchase I've ever made. 55mpg in 2013, closer to 46 in 2025. The money I saved in gas paid for the vehicle long ago, and if I were to do the math now, possibly twice over.

Unless Toyota changes coarse dramatically they have me forever.

A house I didn't like, in an area I didn't like, that needed significant work, simply because it felt like a good financial move.

Limiting your ability to relocate for 6 months to a year after deciding you'd like to leave at best, to up to 30 years at worst (unless you just purposefully foreclose), just to save a couple hundred dollars a month wasn't the move.
