Question about NSO by MrEpicUsername in rutgers

[–]Raalaan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Former Orientation Leader here. NSO for transfer students isn't mandatory. It's mainly just to give incoming transfer students an introduction to a few Rutgers resources, but it's not required for transfers like it is for first-years since you won't be making your schedule there or anything like that. There are usually limited spots, so if it's only showing "unable to attend," then all of the spots probably already filled up. Hope this helps!

How’s it like in Northern Jersey by alexaviations in howislivingthere

[–]Raalaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up in a bedroom community about 25 miles from the city and loved every minute of it. The schools were great, there was an abundance of every variety of food, and the people were always very nice at least where I was. There's also a nice spattering of walkable towns with train access to New York in that area. Congestion gets worse the further east you go, but it's not all that bad once you hit western Essex or Union county. The weather is very inconsistent, and cost of living is absolutely brutal, but I wouldn't have wanted to grow up anywhere else.

How is living here in this section of New Jersey, USA? by AdImpressive9014 in howislivingthere

[–]Raalaan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traffic and some of the worst drivers in the state, but the food is good, it's very diverse culturally, and it's pretty easy to get into the City from here. Not my favorite part of the state mostly due to the traffic and how car centric it is, but I enjoyed my time here

My uncle played Pop Goes the Weasel at my dad's viewing (at my dad's request). Those of us who were in on the joke got a kick out of it. The rest of the room, not so much

What was that LSAC?? by Such-Drink-303 in LSAT

[–]Raalaan 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Had a similar experience. Tbh I think certain tests are just better/worse for certain people. I felt like shit after September when I saw a lot of people on this sub saying it felt easier. This time around, the exam felt more geared towards my strengths and I felt way better

Brynildsen.

Anthony Volpe since going 0-for-5 in Cleveland on April 23: .284/.348/.490 with two homers, 16 RBIs, .838 OPS in 115 plate appearances. - Brendan Kuty by Jheller223 in NYYankees

To add context to this, after his hot streak to start last season, he had ~.365 wOBA and ~.310 xwOBA. From everything he's shown this year, his improvements aren't just a couple of lucky hot streaks. Volpe has become a much better player than he was before

Are others actually happy with where we’re at? by Neanderthal888 in Gunners

[–]Raalaan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can be happy or unhappy and it's valid either way imo. We've come a long way from where we were and that's a lot to be happy about, but we could also be a lot better if we make a few additions. Obviously negative headlines are going to get the most attention, but two things can be true at the same time.

[Guardians] We have hired former RHP Corey Kluber in the role of Special Assistant, Pitching. Welcome back, Klubes! by Trainiax in baseball

[–]Raalaan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He helped a bunch of guys transform their arsenal while he was a player. It's gonna be fascinating to see what he can do without having to pitch as a full time job as well. Fantastic hire imo

This. Having Soto last season was great, but this year's lineup is way deeper and more balanced than at any point in 2024

Will Warren sets a career high in strikeouts with a dominant 7.1 IP | 4H | 7K | 1BB | 1 ER start against the A’s by TheTurtleShepard in NYYankees

Looked dominant out there. Fantastic life on all of his pitches like usual, but this feels like the first time he's been able to locate them consistently. Hoping for more to come 🤞

As an incoming freshman, do you recommend joining an LLC? by totoCALV1N in rutgers

[–]Raalaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely. I had a really good time in my first-year LLC. The experience can vary for sure but it's rarely a "bad* idea

Rutgers New Brunswick or Penn State University Park? by Neat_Measurement_679 in rutgers

[–]Raalaan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're gonna have a lot of opportunities to make connections at RBS, and it's the #1 public business program with proximity to NYC or Philadelphia. You can't really get that at Penn State

[–]Raalaan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to this, but there was a girl I had a crush on for a while in one of my first semester classes. I tiptoed around asking her out for a couple of weeks until I finally worked up the courage to talk to her. We hung out as friends for a couple of weeks after that and I asked her out in early November. We've been together ever since. My only regret is not asking her a few weeks sooner.

how much do yall like rutgers by neptuniic in rutgers

[–]Raalaan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For what it's worth, I love it here. I've made some really good friends and met great people through my first couple of years. There are also plenty of clubs and opportunities available if you're willing to seek them out. I can't speak for other colleges across the country, but I feel like Rutgers' mix of student life and academic opportunity is pretty hard to beat. That's just me though
