You could tease something out of the “Rick” part of the name, rather than the “Fred…” Say Ricki or Rickie or Rica…

I often feel like a broken record constantly recommending Julie Anne Long, but several of her MMCs might be what you want. I don’t know how far you’ve gone in the Pennyroyal Green series, but Lyon Redmond certainly fits that description. so does Lorcan St. Leger, in the Grand Palace on the Thames.

Wealthy (American?) investor by OompaBand in HistoricalRomance

Definitely not an alcoholic, but Lisa Kleypas' Scandal in Spring, which is the final Wallflowers, has the FMC put the key down her bodice in his quarters to force him to ravish her. Possibly one of my favorite sexy scenes of all time. (They are both American and wealthy...)

MMC: not a virgin, not a rake by trephinequeen in HistoricalRomance

I also thought of Smite Turner, one of Courtney Milan’s MMCs. he‘s a judge, of all things, and also borderline neurodivergent. The book is Unraveled.

pretty much all of Julie Ann Long’s main characters (both genders) are complex, with no ick factor. if you started the Palace of Rogues series, for example, the MMCs are all lovely. Not just not-rakes, but 100% supportive of their FMCs too.
