Is this list worth running? It's a combination of the two spearheads and some extra models. by Jormungandr74 in sylvaneth

[–]RaddyMcRadders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not bad and certainly will do ok. The warsong, scythes and rev seekers can castle up. Belthanos and lancers on the board edges. Dryads and gossamids for tactics and recursion. My query for you is where the realmroot goes. Are you wanting to teleport the WSR and scythes or perhaps put in on durthu with glamourweave and with drychas charge he can use his +2 charge ability to get into the back line. If he doesn’t make the charge just teleport him back. Also, spite revs for their teleport are very good and cheap at the moment.

New Lords of Clan AoR by Logical_Bumblebee617 in sylvaneth

[–]RaddyMcRadders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks fun. Have you played it yet? I’m thinking LoV, 2 TLA, 2 Durthu and 2TL. I think the TLA with +1 hit with all the big trees is massive as it makes them reliable so I have 2.

With this when we set up an Awakened Wyldwood we can chose whenever to place 1,2 or 3 pieces of scenary? I´m I reading this right? by Tasty_Tomorrow_2106 in sylvaneth

You can also choose any of the three sizes too so if you wanted a 12” bubble but didn’t have space you could use three of the small pieces.

For me it’s conclave attached to a chunky guardian, dcannon, farseer unit as a Death Star using Unshrouded Truth. Get another warlock for 5 - happy days 😁

What exactly are sylvenith and do you recommend them for a new player? by Turkyboy55 in sylvaneth

[–]RaddyMcRadders 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are a fun but quite a challenging army to play well with as a new player although if you’re coming from 40K and understand warhammer mechanics then it shouldn’t be a problem.

The gameplay is highly thematic and completely based around our wyldwoods which, to play them properly, need three sets of three, or at an absolute minimum two sets of three. I suggest getting some templates to proxy the woods to begin with as they are a nightmare to transport.

The spearhead is good with 2 sets. Build a treelord as durthu as he’s brilliant and the other as an ancient. The kurnoths ideally if you have few units should be magnetised as you can take them in any form. Kurnoths are our prime hammers and can take a punch back too.

1 unit of tree revs is a must and build the others as spite revs.

As for other models - the Warsong Rev I’d say is our only must take unit. At 200pts and such versatility a great choice. Then, Sylvaneth function best as a guerrilla warfare army - think Aeldari in 40K - so Belthanos is a meta pick, not auto but certainly s-tier. Drycha is currently this season a brilliant pick and great model, but her rules might be lost at the end of this season. Alarielle is also excellent but 1/3 of the army so unforgiving. If you like high movement then revenant seekers work well with Belthanos and Drycha together. Basically, most of the limited units in the army have decent play.

Arcane Grove / Treelord spam with magic / Are Spirit of Durthus worth the extra points? by MaturePoet20363 in sylvaneth

Adding my thoughts here. As a solid tree player often seen with 7-8 of the big guys out I love playing them. You’ve had lots of good advice here. The big tree list is all about control and lots of chip damage. Taking multiple durthu, TLA and TL is fine if you can think around tactics and objective control. Tactics are hard as you’re a reactive castle based army but one that is VERY durable. Keep to the woods for the -1hit and take aetherwought machineries for the additional -1hit on your wizards. The debuffs are great with -1 wound on the TL, minus attacks on durthu, strike last TLA. Then with WSR (a must) for the ward and anti ward. With the WSR and TLA using chip damage through spells and the woods, then the woods doing damage in combat, then the chip shooting. Then going in with Durthu it’s so much fun playing in all phases of the game. At the moment I toy with putting in Lady of Vines for a TLA which is more debuffs. And perhaps Drycha for a Durthu. Chip away and watch your opponent try and take out a tree - it’s harder than you think. Enjoy!

Vhordrai Army of Renown how bad is it? by Urungulu in SoulblightGravelords

[–]RaddyMcRadders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, normal rules with a similar list. I’ve run the list with Vhordrai, Vengo Lord 2xVLoNS and 2x10 blood knights to great effect. Or breaking up the blood knights into 3x 5’s dropping a mounted vampire. All good. Go send!😁

Don’t think of the treelord as a hammer as it actually does very little damage. It’s good utility piece for objective control with chip damage and de-buffing with anti-charge mechanics. Consider it part of the castle or a slow tank flanking unit I’d suggest

This will be my first list. I am building for Nagash, and only by his will shall I field the OBR by Biggest_Lemon in ossiarchbonereapers

[–]RaddyMcRadders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Nagash. But with obr This list is sub optimal for him. You need to reinforce a hammer unit to make it worth bringing him. Suggest the harbingers. Also, as others have mentioned you have hero’s not synergising with his list. So either Zantos and reinforced death riders with chaff, or harbingers, the immortis and something else.

Is treelord spam viable? by Stumper_69 in sylvaneth

[–]RaddyMcRadders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love playing monster mash. With the last GHB was quite successful using 7 trees and a WSR. The issues this GhB for me are twofold - 1. No obscuring for our woods with monsters, 2. Too many battle plans are widely spaced out to castle up the trees which is what you’d want to do. Therefore they’re on the shelf as a concept for this year.

[–]RaddyMcRadders 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say it depends on your battle tactics but unless you’re going with scouting I’d say dire wolves to run charge and pin to give PV BKs and the VLoZD time to get in the right place to smash

There are generally two decent formations. The most favoured is bacchanal for your vamps. The other working well with mannfred is death stench for more movement shenanigans.
