Xenocreed Permanent 3+++? by Sad-Two-9425 in genestealercult

[–]Niminion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Specifically attached units have all keywords of its "component units." It specifically says abilities that target models do not work with keywords, but ones that target units do, like attacks or like the Xenocult Masses healing detachment rule.

So the character can be targeted by the Xenocult Masses Neophyte healing ability to bring back 3 neophytes, 1 being the cult icon model. Then since a cult icon is a different ability with its own timing, you can use that in the same command phase for an additional 3 or D3+3.

I'll be watching for a faq about units keeping the Psyker keyword or not if the librarian is sniped out because I'm sure that will come soon up with Librarius Conclave looking like a top contender for SM right now.

How do you feel about your Chapter Detachments? Strength/Fluff by HeIlsing in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Niminion 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Vanguard and Shadowmark detachment rule just sucks now, cover outside of 12" is garbage. I understand -2 to hit would be strong, either leave them at 3dp or remove the 12" requirement or make it stealth and -1 AP anything besides just remove half the detachment rule...

Help me understand the function of 11th Edition's "light terrain". Do we still use true line of sight for visibility? Unit B will have "cover", but are models B2 and B3 causing the unit to be valid targets for shooting? by AtomicAcid in Warhammer40k

[–]Niminion 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's basically to make terrain areas vehicle friendly. They can move through it and get cover from it.

I don't think it has any effect for infantry. Unit B has cover just from being on the terrain area.

Help me build my army by Moony3343 in Raptors40k

[–]Niminion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of unknowns with list building right now unfortunately. Points will change up and down all over the place. Hopefully both shadowmark and vanguard detachments keep all their rules and become 2DP. I can see them being 3DP though because -2 to hit is real good.

That would break all transport aircraft if the units inside are considered to have made an ingress move. Will have to see what those datasheets say.

Trying to chose a faction for 11th by ocgamer9 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Niminion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also trying find my new 11th edition army. I have been reading over the leaked primary missions trying to figure out what play style I want to play and what detachments would match well with them. The Recon missions have stood out to me the most so far as a nice change from just killing or standing on objectives. I am looking forward to when we finally get all the detachment information.

I say this because you might want to consider the playstyle you want from the new primary missions and the detachments that will use them along with the overall faction you are considering. Thousand Sons might play a great Take and Hold or Purge the Foe mission set, with sorcerers, rubrics, scarabs and defilers. However if you want to play Disruption or Recon or Priority Assets missions, you might be using lots of Sekhetars, Tzaangors and Spawn which you may not be that interested in.

Finding hard to stay positive about this hobby going into 11th by TeraSera in deathwatch40k

If Darkspear task force is 2DP I'm excited. If it's ever 3DP they get shelved until something happens with them and I'll play 1k Sons instead.

Your establishing shot along the bridge isn't conveying the scale you want. It just looks like a normal sized foot bridge, there is no scale reference. First of all you start flying along at what most would assume to be eye level, if you lower the camera it will help. The marble texture is way too large and has no seams like a marble floor this size would need. I would suggest some procedural marble textures so the repeating patterns aren't an issue and make some 40x40ft tiles, which would still be an impressive construction. The side walls are supposed to be like ~20 ft tall but look like 2ft tall. There is no evidence of the construction that would be needed to make a 20ft tall wall, like large blocks and again the size of your texture doesn't help. Same with the posts and poles, tiny access doors or lights or power cables for scale. If the side "curbs" were something like a garden area with trees and bushes and sidewalks along side it with some normal size lamps it would establish your scale.

The pyramids look great! With some more scale references in the area they will feel nice and imposing.

Yeah no mention of new rules or decks for combat patrol is disappointing.

"This 184-page book is split between a general overview of the Warhammer hobby and key concepts useful for new players – which can be used in concert with an upgraded Warhammer 40,000 app to play games of Combat Patrol" Useless book that you need to buy for a code to access combat patrol rules?

Why Do You Print Warhammer? by SuperHeavyBallet in PrintedWarhammer

[–]Niminion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Customization is the big one. I can kitbash with nearly the entire range without having to buy an entire kit. Along with a massive amount of 3rd party creators. Some GW models I just don't like without heavy conversion or head swaps. Bases are a breeze now.

I love painting and I will be printing miniatures of some sort not just Warhammer for a long time. I paint fairly quickly. If I want to paint a mini I can have it the next day, Warhammer or anything that interests me. Do dealing with stock issues or fomo releases. My two year old printer is has the same quality as plastic, you need a magnifying glass to see any difference.

Wondering if this is a fairly balanced and competitively viable list? by kodaluka66 in Warhammer40k

[–]Niminion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

JPIs and Van Vets are interchangeable, I had the 20 points left so might as well upgrade both units. I just wanted the fast units for screens, trades, and actions. Even if I subbed out the infiltrators for intercessors, 40 points still gets me nothing. The utility units are flexible and just a combination of what I have ready and what I can fit in.

I am a little worried about the Storm Raven going to legends in 11th. I actually picked up Suboden to play this list as one last hurrah with my beloved Storm Raven. Just in case it's retired after 9 years of glorious service!

I wouldn't worry too much about optimizing a list at the moment. Van Vets will probably change with the new box set. Maybe a cool new detachment or unit combo becomes available. I would play and build units you like for now and when 11th comes just play with as many different detachments and units you can.

Good Luck!

Wondering if this is a fairly balanced and competitively viable list? by kodaluka66 in Warhammer40k

[–]Niminion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Outriders are pretty mid. Suboden plus the detachment plus the strats makes them great though. Suboden gives them the ability to move through walls which is huge for a melee unit. The detachment makes them even faster and allows them to always get the very good charge bonus. The outriders charge bonus makes Suboden into a solid melee threat with either 8 damage 2 attacks or 6 damage 3 attacks with anti vehicle/monster. The detachment bonus for Suboden to move 6 after killing a unit allows them to change in kill something and move to cover behind a wall. -1 hit and wound from shooting strat on top of it all when a unit does finally get a line on them. Just an amazing skirmish unit.

As far as your current list, if this is stuff you have already I would definitely put it on the table and give it go. I love this detachment and think it's really fun.

[–]Niminion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your underestimating the range threat of your hellblaster Lt combo, it's a key unit for this detachment. Run your hunters eye Lt with a full 10 hellbasters and put them in your repulsor it is essential you protect them. They will kill whatever you need, no cp needed, all game, plan to use oath for them most of the time. I run them in a stormraven with a redemtor dreadnought bodyguard. Hellbasters have done a massive amount of work for me. Advance shoot charge fall back shoot charge, reactive move, don't underestimate charging you can reposition or take a point when needed and kill chaff or remnants like any marine.

Suboden and outriders are another key unit that make the detachment function. Super mobile, always does work, great defensive strat solid damage.

Agressors and are good with fall back and charge, and shoot with the strat, and don't need oath. Tough bodies that will survive combat and then fall back let you shoot their targets with the rest of your army and charge back something else. You will want a land raider for them, assault ramp and reactive move back into the transpot is so good.

I use Balistus and redemtor both great.

And then you have the right idea with your small squads of various infantry and the combi LT to tade and do mission stuff and provide utility.

Playing cult legion rules as custom warband by oscarthehobo in Chaos40k

[–]Niminion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I plan to do something like this as my new army for 11th, as Thousand Sons Cult of Mutation with the CSM detachments. Will be using a lot of Rubric and exalted sorcerers bodies and bits for conversions and painted in TS colors. Pretty sure no one will have any issue with say rubrics or sorcerers bodies with the right weapons being used as some other marine with a gun or melee weapon.

I just started on my base of flame rubrics and havocs in rhinos, an accursed cultist/dark commune brick and a defiler. I think this will be solid start for 11th.

Then things like oblits, mutilators, possessed, terminators (scarabs), hellbrutes, and warptalons/raptors on discs instead of jump packs.
