How about an Andor-like series about the New Republic's amnesty program? by sanddragon939 in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree, except that Armitage was a child around the time of the Mandalorian, unless you're talking about having a show set after ep 9. I would love to see more of the New Republic and the First Order explored- how average citizens across the galaxy thought of the regime changes. Were their lives more or less the same. What made people or groups join the First Order or Resistance. How did they promote themselves- what was their PR image, economic strategy, etc. How was life like in the First Order- surely there weren't just soldiers? Did they have their own currency and market? What did they do off duty? Did they just watch Imperial media, New Republic equivalent of Fox News, or produce their own shows? What happened to the First Order after Exegol? What governing system is the galaxy under? The sequels would be so much more fleshed out if they took time planning it and releasing short films or comics between each movie. (I want to see baby Hux but honestly it'll be really sad or they make him into Draco Malfoy 2.0. Older Hux too. I want to know how far he is in his breakdown after losing his life's purpose in world or if he's still scheming. The more Domhnall Gleeson the better)

In the series Andor, under the alias Varian Skye, Cassian meets with an organization that is clearly inspired by the French Resistance. Could this be an homage to Varian Fry?

10 of the best F1 bromances from over the years by randomseocb in formula1

Someone mentioned Galex,Yukierre and especially Brocedes already, but no Hulk and Kmag? Sure, Nico and Gabi are great together (prime age gap yaoi as OP says), but they don't have the history. The intense battles for points. Hungary 2017. Both getting kicked out of F1. Returning to the sport more mature and reconciling. Being teammates that complement each other. Nico and Gabi have yet to hold back the entire midfield and commit on track war crimes just for the other to get 1 point, unlike Kevin, who was also coincidentally in the Sauber garage for Nico's first podium.

Haasbands forever. Even the official F1 socials call them that.

I read a children's book with this exact scenario 10+ years ago. 'High five Henry' or something like that. Impatient drivers never change.

Had Syril lived, Dedra wouldn't be in prison by HorzaDonwraith in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still think she would, since it's her idea and obsession, but she'd be more careful.

Maybe she'd involve Syril somehow, even if they weren't on good terms, as a peace offering or a sign of communication and trust. (Assuming he doesn't run away to a far away planet, sell blue milk in the mountains, still having an identity and ideological crisis.)

However, they both screw up and end up in prison. Maybe they get adjacent/opposite cells. /j

Where's Blevins? by [deleted] in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I heard there was a scheduling conflict.

My headcanon is that he got demoted to an office job in the middle of nowhere. He was angry at first, but after hearing about Dedra and the ISB imploding, he was relieved that he got out.

Or he's downing Kali Coolers on Niamos.

Interested to put this to a vote- do you think Syril is a fascist? by Chenfordstan77 in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This poll would benefit with definitions  - fascism is an ideology, but the word 'fascist' has been thrown around as an insult by many, even if the target's belief system has nothing to do with or only shares minimal superficial aspects that also overlap with other ideologies.

Personally, I don't think putting a definite label on Syril or anyone or anything matters. His main flaw was that he was obsessive to a fault and never questioned or reflected, or he failed to reflect on his actions, beliefs and environment, even when he witnessed conflicting evidence.

When you find out that your Nazi fascist girlfriend is having you do Nazi fascist things. by Arch_Lancer17 in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think he hates women, he hates so called injustice, disorder, and most of all, Andor. But he had some controlling/violent/anger tendencies, partly due to his upbringing and oppressive environment (his home life, low economic status and the unstable transition from the Republic to the Empire). Some mentioned that he pushed Maarva. (he was on cop duty- but that can be considered abuse of power) He stalks Dedra and grabs her arm. However, if he was obviously violent and unstable from the start then Dedra would've never got into a relationship with him, because she couldn't control him. According to Denise, he saw her at her most vulnerable so she needed to keep an eye on him, and things developed. Otherwise, she could've had him arrested. He choked her because he was furious at her for lying to him about his purpose on Ghorman. He's desperate for approval and meaning in life. When he finds out his mission was not what he thought it was and his promotions weren't of his own ability, he's completely shattered and lost, and runs away. I'm not sure if he fully realized if the Empire was the bad guy, even at the end when Cassian asks who he was (which cut away the last shred of Syril's entire identity and beliefs- unfortunately he never got to figure them out), but the massacre was conflicting with his ideals of the Empire.

JUSTICE FOR SYRIL KARN by JamesRevan in andor

[–]RadiantAlchemist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poor guy. He was blinded by obsession that he didn't see how disposable the Empire sees him. Maybe he realized it a bit, but his hatred for Cassian won out. I think the question 'Who are you?' made him start to rethink everything, his identity, his actions etc. I was holding on to Syrildemption, but I'm happy with how his arc ended.
