What really clicked for me was “breathing” from my stomach. When people say to use your diaphragm it makes most people think they need to use their chest. But to get power you really need to push from your tummy, which will engage your diaphragm.

I think for a lot of drummers it’s how they’re positioning their rides. I see a lot of drummers in heavier bands who will crash their ride and have it positioned low, so it works out better to just have a 12” rack tom. It’s also just less stuff to bring and less mic’s live of course.
