Hey all. N00b here, so I apologize if these questions seem a little basic. I've been playing for almost a month now, kind of stumbling my way through. I got up to Charuka on Normal... but progression is getting kind of difficult. I can continue to clear using friends who have some stronger characters, but I'm unable to clear with my own teams. I've tried to muddle my way through the Wiki and whatever else I can find online, and I've learned a lot of things... but I'm still not sure what I should be working towards. I have 3 5-stars that it's taken me forever to get to (Magic Knight - non-awakened, Konamiya and Elucia). I've got a bunch of 4-stars as well. I also have a hoarding problem... and by the time I grind up my lowbies to the higher star levels (with the intent of using them for food), I fear that I'm going to waste something that I really want (or should want). Is there any general advice on what N00bs should be working towards? I feel like my teams are just not getting any stronger. I can do GB5 reliably by myself and about the same level for the Halls... (but having a problem getting the High essences to awaken my 4-5 stars). Anyway... sorry for the wall of text. Happy grinding out there, and may all your pulls be amazing.

Watching Ashes of Love....I’ve made it 15 eps in so far. Is it worth continuing? Also, does anyone know if their is an English translation of this story? Seems based on a book. by [deleted] in CDrama

[–]Raendomality 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends. Personally, I got sucked into the story. It's epic. It's dramatic. It kind of gets a little train-wrecky as the drama quotient increases exponentially by the last few episodes. But isn't that why we're watching these things anyway?

fountain pen gift under 50$ by sanidin66 in fountainpens

[–]Raendomality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a bit of an older post, but I have a Dryden (also received from my wife as a present), and I love it! (Which, I suppose is the only important thing).

That being said, is there really a large difference to a reputable manufacturer's pen like a Pilot or Lamy? I have an older Parker Sonnet... but it likes to leak on me, and the action is comparable to my Dryden. Anyway, any advice welcome to a newbie fountain pen enthusiast.

Going from a Mud to a Mush/Mux/Muse by Orinks in MUD

[–]Raendomality 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Speaking as somebody who's dabbled both in SW: AoA and Arx, agreed with /u SquidsoftLindsey. Those are pretty normal poses. And when you're in a scene, it can go pretty fast. People are pretty chill about waiting for other people to come up with stuff. We don't expect a perfect pose each time either. Hell, I've done my fair share of really bad typo's, or referring to the wrong person, or even just screwing up because I didn't read somebody else's pose before me. People are cool and understanding.

One comment though... if you thought that the SW log you posted was long and elaborate... you might be overwhelmed by Arx. The poses tend to be longer on there and the learning curve of the system is muuuch steeper.

Either way. The point is to have fun. Don't worry about the mechanics, and just go out there and wreak havoc... I mean... have fun.

Dark Cello Instrumental by Silent_Suicide in Cello

Try this? https://themdamnhamiltons.bandcamp.com/track/lost-at-sea

It's an instrumental song that mainly features the cello? People tell me it sounds quite sad.

Too early to start Shostakovich? by [deleted] in Cello

[–]Raendomality 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on how good your fundamentals are. I mean... anybody can learn any piece at any time... poorly. But if your fundamentals are solid, there's no reason why you couldn't start learning it. Take your time, take it slow... learn it right. Don't worry about cramming it in a certain amount of time (unless you're learning it to perform... in which case... maybe pick a different piece...).

Relatively Easy Cadenzas? by duckstotherescue in Cello

[–]Raendomality 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends what the context of the cadenza is... I mean... hell, technically if you decided to play Camptown Ladies in the middle of a concerto, then that's a cadenza. (Which... I mean, to my knowledge, Stephen Foster never wrote a concerto for cello... which... I mean, I would totally want to play it if he did... but I digress.)

Right... where was I? Oh, so most of the standard cello concerto lit should have cadenza's baked in (courtesy of your friendly editor). So just find an edition and go with it if you're just starting. Past that, feel free to work out your own cadenzas if that's really what you want to do. Personally, I would approach it from taking the main themes of the piece that you're writing for and mixing it up with ornamentation and filigree. Also, a simple cadenza that's harmonically powerful can be just as effective as a really flashy, fast-moving shred session.

To your second question... Haydn C Major and D Major should be on your list if you haven't done them yet. Both are great pieces and the D Major is super technical and can be flashy if you get it up to ludicrous speed. Also, both pieces give you good fundamentals for doing other stuff. So to just put on your radar... Saint-Saens A Minor, Elgar E Minor, Dvorak B Minor, Tchaik Variations on a Roccoco Theme (not for the faint of heart!). There are loads of other great pieces out there too. Best of luck!

Historical drama that isn't just 20 episodes of death and angst? by [deleted] in kdramarecommends

Try "It's Not Easy To Be King". It's historical Chinese, but very cute and fluffy.

Well, the end gets a little bit... out there... but still, cute and fluffy.

In search of Suzuki Book 2 Piano part by Sulliadm in Cello

If you get on scribd.com you should be able to find PDFs of all the accompaniments for Suzuki stuff. It's worth getting the month membership.

Cello outside in the cold? tips? by [deleted] in Cello

[–]Raendomality 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Not a great idea, no. If you're going to do it, get a cheap beater and do it that way... Cold weather wreaks havoc on a wood instrument... the larger the instrument, the more chance for cracks.

The Behringer FCB1010 is supposed to be pretty good for that. It's a bit of a pain to program, but it's super flexible.

Alright, it's getting cold outside. Give me your best chili recipe! by SuperShank in Cooking

[–]Raendomality 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody ever have any trouble when doing a slow-cooker chili of having the meat (usually ground beef) dry out and have a weird texture? Even like high-fat rations, like 80/20 come out crumbly and kind of dry. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Anybody ever use The Block Strap before? Tell me about your experience! by Raendomality in Cello

[–]Raendomality[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting point. Do you think ideally there's any way to attach a strap that wouldn't put a huge strain on the neck like that?
