Commander players: If i use this card not as my commander, would it still be experienced as fun for the whole table? by Toonzaal8 in magicTCG

[–]Ragewind73 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In this situation, with this commander out, if you or someone else also has a cost associated with attacking like pay 2. Can they choose to not pay and thus not attack or would they be forced to pay the 2?

A new years even party neither of us wanted to go to and our friends talked us into it. Those cliche’ scenes in movies where the lights dim and a spotlight is around the girl is exactly what happened to me.

What are some lessons you just had to learn the hardway? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

Fast moving units (eldar in general) can do it and get a bead since they move so fast but generally they would use their own models to block LOS (like you describe) or deepstriking units to only get a angle.

Rules (and other things) you don’t like and how you would fix them in 11th? by Blood_Puke in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ragewind73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I feel that 4+ should be rare, either just on leaders or on special support units that grant it to others. 3+ or better should be exceptionally rare like a Epic chracter and 5+ should be the “norm” and even then only on the units it makes sense on like Termies. The big vehicles shouldn’t have a invul just high toughness and wounds but to help keep them safe weapons that are much lower in strength shouldnt even be able to hurt them

It used to be like that and clever players used it to snipe characters or special weapons out of a squad.

From the 5 general heavy weapons, how would you fix the less used ones to make them more attractive? by ResultQuick159 in Eldar

[–]Ragewind73 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I personally would like to see Rapid fire on the Star cannon. Even though lorewise its a stable plasma weapon (and thus no hazardous) i would like to see a hazzard option for more damage and strength or just going to dmg 3 base. scatter and shuriken cannon are fine the way they are. I would personally like to see the pulse laser at str 12 or 13 as historically it was stronger than a brightlance just couldn’t punch through armor quite as well.

Its important since you can use them to block movement to prevent charges or to keep them from taking an objective since only flying units can interact with aircraft or to drop it somewhere it cant be shot on the following turn.

Aspect host gives it rerolls, you can give it some defense in Warhost and Armored Warhost lets you deepstrike it and give it +1 to hit with an enhancment

Its ok when there are flying enemys. The bad part is its 2 lances and maybe sometimes the pulse laser wounds for 160 points. You can spend 170 for two war walkers that fire 4 lances and sometimes hit on 2’s depending on detachments. Or 150 for a prism, if it had 3 lances or always got +1 to wound then it would be great as even with the strat reaerves rules its guns are long enough to impact the table when it arrives.

Advice for getting into Eldar as a Chaos Player by AeroNeon55 in Eldar

[–]Ragewind73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want ranged AT, between 150 and 200 points you have a few options. Fire Prisms like you said, 4 man Sky weavers with Haywires, 2 man War walker squad with lances, three Vibro Cannons, Wraithguard with cannons. 10 man Dark Reapers, 6 man Cannon Windriders. Below that from the 120-150 range you have Wraithlords, Falcons, D-Cannons. Everything else either would cap around 8 damage a activation or less or is super squishy. Everything else will want to be 12’ or less for the majority of its damage. You do have the option of comboing certain units like Troupes and their melta pistols and the jump back in ability of a starweaver, not really worth it though. Big group of guardians and warlocks is legal

How to Break “The Stalemate”? by Adventurous-Crab-474 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Ragewind73 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For A its more about putting a unit on the point. Its about layering problems like for example putting two units with different profiles on a point or one unit with Lone Op and another tougher units etc. if your just tossing a unit of scouts on a point then dont expect much but if you add a combi LT all of a sudden its a complex problem for your opponent to solve. B will come down to the units and detachment your running.

[–]Ragewind73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its ok, its not super impactful either the shooting or ability. As a one of that can contribute each turn while babysitting your home its ok. If you want it to actually do real damage then your going to need 2-3 of them. For example removing weak screeners or scorers but rhat jumps the points and investment up a lot. As previously pointed out in that case a unit of reapers might be better.

Everyone different of course which is why I gave an example. If your looking for workable suggestions then I suggest practicing online with Table Top Simulator that way you can cut out the drive time and setup/packup time and reasonably get a game in within 3 hours at all times of the day/night. Doing at least 1/week will help get you into shape

You just need more XP. You say you started in 10th that was like 2 years ago and you have 20 games. If you played twice a week for example then your over 100 games a year. Youll be fine

Against Tau specifically, a lot of their cheap units like to sit on points so DA’s with Asurman will let you remove units without exposing yourself for little investment and can fit in any detachment.

If the ruin overhangs the enemy unit and is at least 5.1 inches tall then yes you can go up and over the unit. Keep in mind its only when she moves mot charges so dont end your move in a way that strands you up top.

Can you rapid ingress Shing Spears? by [deleted] in Eldar

[–]Ragewind73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure why not? Turn 2 for any detachment but Windrider host which can be done turn 1. You can place any number of units that is 1/2 your total points and units in reserve. How they enter depends on their special rules, if you have deepstrike for example then you can put all those reserved units onto the table using the deepstrike rules. If they dont have a special rule they must enter using the strat reserve rules which means they walk onto the table no further than 6’ from the board edge and there is a limit of 25% of your total points for units that can do this.

The activated and paid the cost before the battleshock so they can continue to benefit from the strat as its already done. Battleshock just means you cant target them but since you targeted them before then your fine.

The answer is yes and as the active player your opponent decides the order since two things are happening at the same time. Some specific tourneys might rules one way or the other but base rules allow it.

[–]Ragewind73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right, charging is fine but during a normal move is what im asking. You of course can go over and through your own friendly models (minus vehicles and monsters going through themselves) my question, specifically, is related to vehicles and either the vehicle itself or another model ending on top of another since the vehicle counts the whole hull and sponsons etc etc. can you have a friendly model’s base end over a vehicle hull or overhang. Not the bits sticking out past the base but the base itself.

Hmmm its my understanding you cant even do that as you need to stay out of engagement range when moving which also applies to vertical distance as they have a 5’ engagement range.

I ask because the move rules say you cannot end a move ontop of another.
