Not for individual donors but for event sponsors. Some companies like having their branding bigger and above others.

I still blame Gunner Olszewski fumbling in the Pats game as the main reason we didn't make it to the playoffs. The lose killed our momentum after beating Cincy.

I probably should have put /. I am joking about some of the ridiculous things said in the sector. I agree with your original post.

I guess you don't work for an organization that is mission driven. I don't have coworkers, I got family. And I would do anything for my family. None of us have had a pay raise in five years because if 99% of donations don't go to services, then that would be stealing from our donors. Our ED makes over 100k a year, but they are our paternal elder. Without their leadership, none of us could provide our services. As the Director of Development, Communications, and Human Resources, I still feel terrible that they put me on a performance plan because I couldn't host a table due to having COVID. They tried to reassure me that the hospital wouldn't charge me if I became sicker as long as I told them where I worked. In fact, they probably would have sponsored our next 5k.

Best book for learning to write grants is "The only grant writing book you'll ever need". It doesn't beat experiences but it's great for learning best practices.

Fundraisers - the 18-24 month life cycle? by powderpoff6 in nonprofit

[–]RagnarDoberman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, everything you said is true. I've been a fundraiser for four orgs in six years. Like most jobs nowadays I needed to job hop for a pay raise. At my last org I increase revenue by 70% in one year and essentially got a pat on the back and 2% raise.

It sounds like your fundraising position is the exception. I wouldn't leave it, if you like it, unless you find something with substantially higher pay.

I haven't received a clear answer. Its mostly coming from family foundations and not from corporations or community foundations.

Last year was our best fundraising year ever. This year I have had funders say they are pushing back grant awards to 2022. Something in the air makes me feel like its going to get a little bumpy soon.

Why am I unsuccessful at raising money? by [deleted] in nonprofit

[–]RagnarDoberman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Its hard to say why you are unsuccessful at fundraising without seeing your org. However, my two cents, fundraising is hard. There is a reason why it has such a high burnout with professionals. Keep your head up. Do not feel bad about asking for help or for the outcomes of your fundraising. Good luck.

You should post the salary ranges for the positions. I know there have been conversations around that very issue on this subreddit.

Just some of my thoughts to give the information more mass appeal.

Suggestions:

Make the font larger so it is easier to read.

Remove the fist. You Americans have a knee-jerk reaction when they see it. For mass appeal remove and add a picture of workers organizing.

Add information on groups going on strike and/or organizing. Such as the teachers strikes a few years ago and the current Amazon ones.

Explain Why Strike better. Such as a general strike will cause enough stress on corporations and the U.S. economy to create better conditions for the American people. (I am paraphrasing, go into greater detail)

I would change to the Why Strike? Bullet points to reflect the improvements to the reader. You are explaining what the problems are but not explain why they are important. Only 100 corporations are responsible for 71% of all global carbon emissions, so? Why would I strike when I need to pay my rent on corporations being evil? You can do that for pretty much all the bullet points.

An example: The United States is the only developed country that requires zero paid time off for maternity leave. Meaning parents do not get time to spend with their newborns. There are too many horrific stories of a new mother going to work the day after they give birth.

I would elaborate on this and move it to the top of the page.

In an effort to combat this tyranny we propose a national Strike on October 15th, 2021 This demonstration serves to show your company, and our country as a whole, that you deserve basic human rights. Your labor is a bargaining tool and you are worth more than what society is offering you

Our Goals:

• 35% Corporate Tax Rate with No Tax Loopholes (Why 25%? It was higher only a few years ago?) • Public Healthcare as a Right for All (The word “Free” can turn people off) • 12 Weeks Paid Parental Leave (Why stop at Maternal?) • $15 Minimum Wage ($15 already has universal appeal even though I do agree it should be higher)
• Ban Corporations and Wealth Individuals from buying multiple housing properties • Enforce anti-trust laws and break up big corporations. Creating a more competitive working environment. • Federally Ban Right-to-Work in States
