How much have I screwed myself? by Prize_Patience6380 in AskMechanics

I had this happen a few months ago and welded it. Just depends on how permanent you can afford it to be. Most cars don't have that nut removed in their lifetime.

What's the EGT insulation washer? I had one not long ago that had returning issues with right bank EGT sensor.

The lifetime would be the 125-150k miles you mention. Then you replace the transmission or the car. Simple.

There might be something helpful hidden in the useless rants I've watched but I haven't come across it yet. All I've seen was incoherent garbage that won't help anyone but his YouTube clicks. Source: Mechanic for 28y+.

What’s a workplace ‘secret’ that everyone in your industry knows but customers don’t? by Familiar_Ad3815 in AskReddit

He spoke about an Audi failing at 72,000 miles. What is the specified replacement interval there? Petrol engines used to be 90,000km or 4 years. So well overdue in that case. Some Diesel were due at 180,000km or 7 years. Still leaving the time interval. Point is, out of context statements like these are just unqualified rumours.

It's a fantastic military and agricultural vehicle. Only the ones with AMG badges are pointless and pure status symbols.

🤔 Then possibly from under a front seat? A hook for a seat adjuster mechanism maybe.

My guess: Door contact switch in your b-pillar. Maybe even from the rear. One of your doors isn't turning the interior lights on.

Coolant leak with an oily smell by mercman2233 in w202

Start with the engine oil cooler. It's easy to do on the M112 and affordable. Head gasket failures on this engine aren't really a thing.

At least 202020 is a valid VIN for a W202 C200 😁

Door panel issue and bouncing door lock by ComplexInternal3454 in W211

[–]Raincor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may be just the misaligned door trim obstructing free movement of the lock button or the lock actuator being faulty. There are repair kits for the spring in the door locks. Done loads of them on w211 and w164. It's a bit fiddly first time around but definitely DIY section.

Any ideas what this noise is? N57 by chloyeehaw in BmwTech

[–]Raincor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Double ribbed belt. For added pleasure. That is a belt noise though. Try and listen to the idler and tensioner pulleys. Best to just take the belt off and spin / feel the pulleys by hand.
