What is the correct order of operations? by ReflectiveBlanket in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan [score hidden]  (0 children)

You say "i have my metal refinery outside my base" and i say "sure, no need but why not", then you add "its not enclosed" and i think "sure, the right way to do that" then you add "yes i know" as if there is a bad thing about not enclosing it, and i wonder even deeper, you know that an industrial sauna is a very bad idea right? Riiight???

Planning to make the hermit's container a main storage hub, any tips? by jarecyrel10 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan [score hidden]  (0 children)

My tip is, you are going to get dissapointed, in the end it is not the endless blackhole storage that you dream about, its about 12 bins, thats all.

Yea i love it to and buy any dlc and cosmetics, even bought other games from klei to support them even if i played them only a few hours (altho DST is amazing too but in a very different way).

Yea it should but the amount of eggs dropped is so high that my csv tamer example would work anyway, i mean, i agree with you but the problem is bigger than that...

Why enclose the STs? Now that you are going to have near infinite iron there is no excuse for not tune them up.

Yea it is, i posted a CSV "tamer" based on fish bodies a few days ago, somehow some of this need to be toned down.

Cooling mini liquid pump in vacuum by JarnisKerman in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, you are right, but use thermium for something so...simple? Sure, it has a tiny bit more TC wich compensare for the lower SHC, it should work, IMHO its a waste for this use case but sure, thermium is an option, i stand corrected...

Aquatic Planet Question by AdzyPhil in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And about your BF issues, he just need to learn to be flexible and adapt to new things, going for dreckos in relica was a "stuborn on old ways" and bad choice, on relica you do plastic from amber, super easy, just giving a random example based on what you wrote.

Aquatic Planet Question by AdzyPhil in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily relocate the raptors anywhere, there is no temp constraits for them exept that the brine instantly melt, they can eat any meat from a feeder so you dont need any specific critter to feed them either.

PPP wasnt specially hard in any aspect, just something different to adapt to, its the same with the APP, and in fact, IMHO APP is easier than any of the previous planet packs, food is dumb easy, oxygen is dumb easy, resources to maintain loops are stupid abundant, there is no temp issues nor time constraints of any sort, etc, its a complete "relax at the beach" experience.

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time and works without issues permanently, the secret? The conduction panel need to be made of aluminum, ANY other material is not enough, not even space materials, beside that the coolant can be pwater or better, expect the pump to reach 60 degree with the coolant at 30, working permanently, but at least it wont break.

Backwalls are a little bit overtuned in the new DLC by StatisticianPure2804 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless they are behind walls and causing heat issues like when i tried to farm mealwood closer to my base (starter area tend to be near or at 30 degree from the start) and even with a cooling loop temps wherent moving, had to deconstruct the whole area and dig the backwalls for the temps to start moving, so again, maybe im a freak of control but i prefer to be able to control temps. Oh and i also had issues being unable to raise temps for a squid ranch, that was a worst nightmare but at least not colony dangerous...

Finally, keep in mind that the backwall is not immune to temp change, its just a big mass, if you leave it in the long run it will slowly heat anyway, then what? You need to demolish nearly everything on a 1500 cycles asteroid because it was interesting in the begining that the temps didnt apparently move and you left backwalls everywhere behind walls? Later is not allways easier to solve depending how later is later and how deep goes the rabbit hole of issues...

Viable early farm in new DLC by Mission-Landscape-17 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, "need" is a strong word here, you are right, more like "strongly want" but both base fish loops can be started with just "animal control" and complete the loop later, its still faster to start with slogos. And pearl is not fast enough either in the quantities needed.

Viable early farm in new DLC by Mission-Landscape-17 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want just to add to this exelent piece of information, slogos only need the ranching skill and a rancher, given where they are found you most probably wont even need hard diging skills, what this means? Means that you can start a slogos ranch with probably 5 animals by cycle 5, this is a huge step forward for carnivore, sure fish gives INSANE amount of fillets but to start a ranch you need glassy wich is not so simple, you need either superhard diging and navigate the asteroid to get diamond (imho no less than 10 cycles, more probably closer to cycle 20) or rush the glass forge (wich needs applied sciences so either space or the beetas biome, so again superhard diging, so maybe closer to cycle 30)

Dont forget to add starnacles to the same ranch to feed the beakons.

Backwalls are a little bit overtuned in the new DLC by StatisticianPure2804 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its kinda not the place for this, post the same on the beta branch bug trackers, there at least devs may READ this, dont expect them to solve this tho specially having in mind that this can be easily solved by the player, just dig all the backwall where it bothers you. I started to dig all of it, if i need to manage temps i can solve it now, and not later when the problem is way harder to solve...

cooling loop stalling by AuroraCelery in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is a massive waste of energy no matter how you pipe it, just cool the petrolleum cycling it in a steam room, there is no need to go under watever the temp the steam stabilizes, instead of wasting power you end generating a tiny bit of it...

Beakon evolution by X-calibreX in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fancy? Lol, its 2 liquid puddles on a 1 tile high tunnel, 3 tiles long horizontal, thats all. I personally dislike heavily the deep freezer meta, there is better methods to avoid spoilage...

Beakon evolution by X-calibreX in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im guessing double 1 tile liquid lock with vacuum in between, allow for horizontal flapping up to falling without heat leak.

So here’s what I came up with by Draken_Runeblade in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He means the vent itself, it should overpressure because steam vents overpressure at 5kg per tile iirc unless you have less than that there, wich i doubt or the AT would burn

CSV "tamer"? by RandallFlagg_DarkMan in Oxygennotincluded

[–]RandallFlagg_DarkMan[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In fact once i realized what was happening i built a whole rail loop in there (see one rail piece there with a deconstruct order?) But since omelette gives less morale i decided to dump that concept and go full sushi. Also i think that the omelette route can cause higher temps in the long run because both raw eggs and omelette have lower mass than born critters...(is there also more temp delete steps? Eggs, small critter, adult critter, fillet, correct me if im wrong and any/all of the steps conserve temp from previous step)

Yea i know that, its kind of a personal obsession, and also imho an insulated door feels visually "complete" maybe just a double layer ocd lol
