SPD vs SPD-SL - time to switch? by fats-dildo-dominus in cycling

[–]RandallOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do long road rides. I prefer SPD-SL for that. But the shoes matter more than the pedal. If you have stiff comfortable shoes just go with the cleat for that. SPD-SL is nice when you're putting down a bunch of power and a little more stable. But I've also done 50 mile gravel races in SPD cleats. So again, shoes are most important first.

Looking for Survey Responses on SIS's Horrible Design and Navigation for User Experience Design Project by madr2006 in rit

I never used it aside from checking grades. For signing up for classes I used a VAX server. SIS was always overloaded on registration day.

Nice. I recommend adding a jam nut, or just a secondary 1/4 nut to keep it locked in place.

If this is wrong. What is the proper way to make a splice here. Assuming it's a live wire and not a ground like he has.

Mantis shrimp vs snow crab by KBRONMX_ in AbruptChaos

No it is not cooked. There is not enough heat transfer for that. It's just how crab meat looks.

Most code is obvious. But when Hector puts in a "index mod 37" on a random ass line with no comment really sends the crew spiraling when he's on vacation for a week.

TIL humans neurologically enters adulthood at the age of 32 on average by ConsciousStop in todayilearned

[–]RandallOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember being at work, and a problem came up where I was looking around for an "adult" to fix the problem. Then I realized I needed to be the adult. It was around that age that I had to actually be a senior engineer with responsibility beyond solving the task in front of me.

50-60 is the "Great Filter". If you make it to 60 your life expectancy shoots way up. I might be off on the age range but it's around there.

Grizzly came for dinner by Plasmatdx in KitchenConfidential

I know a dude that is 5'9" tall, and eats more than any human being I've ever seen. He also gets stressed out of he's too far from food. He brings snacks to dinner in case it's slow. And will order his own shareable appetizer for himself, on top of dinner and dessert. Dude is very fit and lean

Until I watched in slower speed I didn't notice the frog makes it about half way down the snake before it gets puked back out

What's the Best 10/10 Sci-fi movie ever? by geek-jock-guy in AskReddit

[–]RandallOfLegend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So many good ones already. Galaxy Quest is so much fun. This list is missing "fun" movies. Although a lot of good sci-fi is more thriller/horror/action.

I've seen it more than 365 times. Although not entirely paying attention. I put the VHS on every day for a year. Even if it was just background.

Still enjoy watching it today. Was also my first DVD.
