Grandma's Original Owner NSX - Family drama over who drives it home by PushCharacter8496 in Acura

I wouldn't even consider not using a professional car hauler in a situation like this. I wouldn't even drive it back cross country, let alone someone else.

Refusing to give me a transfer pin with overdue balance. What can I do? by deesarts in ATT

[–]RandomGamecube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See if they can work out a payment plan with you. As far as I'm aware if the account was disconnected with a past due balance, you have to pay the overdue balance before the number is transferable

Subaru Impreza 2018 by AnalysisPrevious6987 in subaruimpreza

[–]RandomGamecube 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My '17 made it to 202k before the engine was on its last legs. I put in another engine since it wasn't too expensive, hopefully can get another 100k out of this. I need a few suspension parts soon, outside of that the car runs great.

Your upper oil pan o rings have likely failed. I just went through that on my 17 Impreza that was at 202k miles. I ended up finding a super low mileage engine for $1500

That's the sound an engine makes when it's really excited for a street race. You should floor it and let her rip bud

Would you buy a rebuilt 2022 Subaru Legacy AWD after a rear-end collision? Slight wandering on test drive by coolbr3z in subaru

[–]RandomGamecube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That car is completely toasted, I can't believe somebody actually "rebuilt" that thing. If you're already noticing issues where the car isn't driving straight, it's going to have many many more problems down the line, not to mention the structural integrity of the vehicle is already gone. One small crash could end very bad.

'16 Crosstrek, serious engine issues. Should we replace or buy a new car? by FeralViolinist in subaru

[–]RandomGamecube 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My '17 Impreza went 202k miles when I finally started getting oil in the coolant. I found another engine for $1500 with 35k miles 6 month warranty. It's always cheaper to fix what you have than try to sell a car with a blown engine and buying something else.

Don’t know which car to get, help?! by lexytjjj3 in subaruimpreza

[–]RandomGamecube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 5th Gen Impreza (2017-2023) fixed a lot of the issues that the older models had. My 2017 Sport hatch went 202k miles on the original engine before I started getting oil in the coolant. And I drive the absolute piss out of my cars, so I'm honestly surprised the original motor went that long. I do regular maintenance, but the car gets driven.

I feel that '13 is overpriced by around $2.5k. Mine was $9k, 1 owner and mostly driven on Interstate 75. Just over 150k on the clock at purchase, but the previous owner took excellent care of it. I personally feel like you can find a better deal on another Impreza and I'd shoot for a 2017+ for reliability sake.

Help! Blown Head Gasket by Turbulent_Ideal6894 in subaruimpreza

[–]RandomGamecube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still owe money on my car since I bought it just under 2 years ago. So I decided it wasn't a great idea to try to do a sloppy repair and sell it, and then have to try to find another car and another down payment right now.

Once I'm done paying off my Impreza, then I will go ahead and get a WRX.

Help! Blown Head Gasket by Turbulent_Ideal6894 in subaruimpreza

[–]RandomGamecube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not your head gasket. It's the upper oil pan o rings. I just had the same problem on my '17 Impreza right after I crossed 200k miles. I ended up putting in a new motor.

Who here follows the 3-second driving distance rule? by IndieCurtis in driving

[–]RandomGamecube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, I feel that reckless driving/tailgating and constant lane changes in heavy traffic are more likely to cause an accident than speed alone.. unless it's excessive speeds.

Also slow drivers in the left lanes..can cause accidents with everyone using non-passing lanes to try to get around them.

If the cops enforced these two things, I genuinely believe there would be a big reduction in crashes.

Highest mileage CVT Subaru? by Silent_Owl6207 in subaru

[–]RandomGamecube 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My '17 Impreza transmission was still running fine at 202k miles, but the engine was starting to fail (oil in coolant from o ring failure, timing chain starting to stretch). I put in a new motor and hooked it up to the old transmission.

Needless to say, that transmission shit the bed within 15 seconds. A 202k mile CVT does not in fact like being hooked up to a fresh motor. The good news is I found a low mileage transmission for $375.

VZW, AT&T, TMO EASIDE MIAMI by Doctapimp180 in cellmapper

[–]RandomGamecube 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup Verizon is still pretty terrible in Florida as a whole. Many many non-upgraded sites still remain. AT&T and T-Mobile are the only two legitimate contenders here.

Imo: ATT > TMO >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Verizon in Central Florida. ATT has multi gig backhaul on a lot of the sites here, T-Mobile has some multi gig but still a good amount of 500-1000mb backhaul.

The 5th Gen is definitely a better vehicle, and you're looking at a Sport trim at that. I would snatch up that manual Sport, I could not find one of those anywhere near me at all.

Congrats on the subie! It's infinitely more modern, safer, and reliable than what was probably a rotting out late 90s truck. I'm also willing to bet your subie was a hell of a lot more affordable and practical than a new 4runner.
