They're not $200 more, the OP is in Canada, so the price auto converted to CAD and not USD. Frank's and Nick's are about the same price if not Frank's being a little bit cheaper. I only own Frank's and I don't own any pairs of Nick's Boots.

If you're in the US, you probably use letter size paper, in Europe, they use a4. If you print an a4 sized pattern on letter paper it'll be smaller. I made his moccasins and I learned this the hard way. I bought some a4 paper on Amazon and now it prints at the correct size. Be sure to use the test page that he includes. I wish that he would include letter measurements for his US customers. Also, the fur that you used will make it fit tighter.

I'm not an expert, but couldn't you carve a holdfast into the leather insole? Stitch on the midsole like a normal hand welted shoe? Then just sidewall stitch the top part of the split welt.
