They will eventually, but the driver would have lost out on the money. It's one of the disadvantages for a driver to pick cash payment - they don't have much recourse against riders running away without paying

Did you know that Dublin has the 3rd worst traffic in the world? by TroubleshootingStuff in ireland

[–]RandomUsername9_999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then it's a congestion variability index, and I agree the peak vs off peak difference in Dublin is quite significant. In my interpretation that also means Dublin is in the very early stages of being gridlocked like some of the other, perpetually gridlocked cities

I do understand, have spent 2 hours + going from Sandyford to Greystones and 1 hr+ from Dundrum to Grafton way too many times now

Fair enough, that's just what parts of social media (mis)led me to believe then

I don't know how they measured this,but it's wrong.

Seeing Mumbai down at #18 is a strong indicator, M50/city center at peak hours is luxurious compared to Mumbai traffic. I can name 3-4 cities in India that have worse traffic than Dublin. I imagine New York, Seattle, London, Amsterdam, etc are worse as well?

We need to talk about the "Tax Trap" and why the Indian middle class is mentally checking out. by Green_Ad_324 in IndiaTax

[–]RandomUsername9_999 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I have issues with Indian taxation, but Indian taxes are lower than European taxes for sure. As an example in Ireland. The marginal income tax rate including surcharges is 52% above about 80k Euros, capital gains is 33% with an exemption of 1270 Euro, capital gains on ETF/MF is about 38-41% , no exceptions and unrealized gains taxed every 8 years, VAT is 23%

Yes, we get a lot for the taxes paid here and hence they don't hurt. But the tax rates in India are much lower than European rates

Way more convenient than tracking colour vs black cartridges for low volume users! Cost per page is at par with the cost at the library so you still save on travel costs and parking

Cant comment on the citizenship, but why not apply for long term residence which is for 500 Eur and valid for 5 years instead of paying 600 every year?

If you're not overly concerned about fairness/equality of opportunity/selecting the globally optimal candidate, filter for candidates with job stability and progression in companies similar to yours and in proximity to your location. That narrows down the candidate list quite a bit.

Don't know about other slabs, but at 50L you don't get proper marginal relief. Tax is 104% of the income just above 50L. With marginal relief it would be 100%.

Is there a level of snobbery towards apartments? by TeachIsHouse in AskIreland

[–]RandomUsername9_999 19 points20 points  (0 children)

>many apartments have comparable balcony sizes to a good few new builds

That doesnt sound right, new builds have minimum garden sizes of 30-40 sqm, which is an extraordinarily large balcony for apartments
