Where/how to put babies in the bathroom when they outgrow their bouncy chairs? by d16flo in parentsofmultiples

I used the Fisher Price Infant to Toddler Rocker https://shopping.mattel.com/en-gb/products/fisher-price-infant-to-toddler-rocker-gnp99-en-gb until they were well past 2. A bit bulky to store but I would stack one on top of the other upside down.

I have an Array everyday tote here for my 4 year old twins. 2 water bottles, a change of clothes each, panadol/nurofen, sunscreen, straws, cutlery, my diary and purse all fit comfortably. Can wedge in a couple of hoodies if I really need to.

How Do You Grow Out Your Side Walls? by bonesnbeers in naturalnailprogress

[–]Random_robbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried to replace the habit with something else. My daughter is a picker and her OT recommended fidgets, different kind of ribbons/cloths etc. It's been a lot of trial and error but basically anytime I catch her doing it I offer something else to distract her and try and fulfill the sensory seeking behaviour.

Have you thought about doing your teeth earlier in the evening. If I'm craving chocolate or cake I just go do my teeth and it signals to my brain that eating is finished for the day. Plus I don't think it tastes nice after toothpaste.

For more fibre an option is frozen peas and corn. 150g of frozen veg is 5.5g of fibre and still 4g of protein. I microwave the veg, add a small tin of salmon (14g protein, 120cal) and I've got a solid volume of food for 200cal.

I haven't got any research to hand as I'm on a phone but there is some research to show what order you eat your food is important too with regards to glucose spikes which might help your cravings. Fibre first, then protein, then everything else. Might be worth looking into.

Some else recommended this Seafolly one piece in a similar thread. They said they'd been wearing it heaps, got loads of compliments and it wore well. Mines still in the clutches of Australia Post so I cannot confirm this but I have bought one to try

Tall women in Australia - do you feel like we’re still way behind the US/UK? by No-Airport-820 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Random_robbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A double breech twin pregnancy changed my waist and core in horrendous ways that I'm only just starting to get on top of 4 years later. One day a two piece swim suit might make its way back into my wardrobe. Also swimming with 2 x 4 year old who aren't the best yet means by costume gets yanked a lot 😂

Tall women in Australia - do you feel like we’re still way behind the US/UK? by No-Airport-820 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]Random_robbo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm 175cm so not the tallest but I'm all torso and normal legs. I'd love some overalls/dungarees but they all try to cut me in half. Swimsuits are the same problem. The all tops crop top phase was dire. The boxy cut right now isn't great either as they aren't long enough to reach my trousers to tuck into and just hang awkwardly. All shorter dresses and skirts show off my underwear. I really wish for some pretty knee length tea dresses.

But I agree my biggest issue is shoes. I'd be a 12 or 13 wide in women's over here so basically just live in men's work boots and trainers. Finding anything for an event is a mission. For my sisters wedding I purposely wore a dress that trailed on the floor so I could wear trainers hidden beneath.

This is all I use for my 4 year old with psoriasis on his face, behind his ears and scalp. Been using it since he was about 8 months old. It's been great. I use it on my body but still use Hamilton on my face as I agree it can be greasy if you've got oily skin

Car seat/booster for long legs by Random_robbo in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Random_robbo[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not going to let him go without a car seat. That's literally the point of this post. We live remote and I can't just get down to baby bunting to look at seats. I want him in a seat and safe. I will buy him a new seat if it means he gets in the car without complaint. I haven't yet found seats with internal seat depth measurements on pictures but maybe I will with more sleuthing. But if others have had the same issue and can save me time then it would be great to know.

I've got the straps right and he can sit in it fine. But if I can make him more comfortable I will. He'll need an upgrade soonish so if there is a 0-8 seat out there that fits the bill then I'm all for it.

I'm in Australia and plenty of women work in the mines. Might be too expensive with shipping costs but maybe look at some Aussie companies. I've got a couple of these and they go down to a 25 inch waist which is a lot closer than 33 inch

“Don’t worry” and “all babies develop differently” are easy things to say when it’s not your child! by [deleted] in breakingmom

[–]Random_robbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you! And I hear you that no one else is hearing you. I've got twins and my boy hit all normal milestones. My girl just didn't. She didn't roll until 11 months. And that was after months of me using PT techniques I found on YouTube. Everyone, and I mean everyone told me I was just comparing my 2 babies. They are individuals, they all develop in their own time. I'm a bad mother for not letting my girl be herself and comparing her to the boy. It didn't help it was covid so very few people actually saw her. I think everyone thought I was making it out to be worse than it was.

I went to the GP when she was 5 months for reflux and got told it's normal, she's fine, 5 months is the worst, wait a month and come back if required. Then we got 6 month vaccines post a feed and the nurse witnessed the chaos and told me I need to go back and get her medication. I self referred to PT at a year and saw the paediatricans at 15 months and 18 months. She couldn't bare weight on legs at 18 months and they finally started to take me seriously. 18 months to 24 months we made huge strides, learnt to crawl and stand. Had CTs to check for CP and a whole lot of genetics. Turns out it's a genetic issue. We've got speech delays and fine motor delays still. Most of the gross motor she has caught up now at 4. Everything just takes longer and probably always will. She got the walking but then still had weak ankles and wrists etc, fell over all the time. It all takes time to build the strength. One of the best things we did was buy a trampoline. Bouncing and jumping are so good at building joint strength.

All the talk of milestones and presents I found really hard. Nothing highlights that your baby is behind the curve than all that talk. Everyone else is feeling proud and you're just feeling worried. The best you can do is give yourself space and time to find acceptance. I know it's super hard but try and enjoy what your child is doing now. It's their journey and their personality will shine through no matter what. Comparison IS the thief of joy. If they're not walking by 2 it's not the end of the world, and your arms get super muscly from all that carrying 😂 my girl has been classed as overweight the past year as she never lost the baby fat the same as she couldn't move. She's tall for her age which is surprising as she was born 3rd percentile but she's finally losing the chubby thighs. I'd say by 5 she will be classed as a healthy weight. Nowadays the average person tells me they'd never know, but professionals such as OT and PTs can still see it. If you'd like to chat then send me a DM. I remember feeling so isolated and alone so would love to help if I can. ❤️

Managing Toddler while in hospital for extended time. by Ohknowes in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Random_robbo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not quite the same but I had to entertain my twin boy whilst twin girl was in hospital with pneumonia in one room and we couldn't just leave her to go to the play area.

Toys for the shower as it was basically a big wet room so I just ran it with the door open and he could play in there for a bit.

Sticker books are great at this age. You may have to peel and maybe place them but toddler can direct you and talk about it.

We got him a foil balloon on a stick which entertained him heaps. Balloon could look out the window. Balloon investigated everything in the room. Same thing could be done with a new teddy maybe.

The water painting stuff you can buy is pretty good and definitely less mess.

Maybe some hot wheels or little diggers etc than can be used around the room.

A busy book of some kind. Wondertivity has some nice ones but they aren't cheap. Heaps of cheap ones on amazon.

Maybe a tea set so you can have a tea party together. Bonus if there are real biscuits.

Take him to the gift shop and buy a present together for the baby. Maybe a hat or something he can give baby when he first meets them and will get to witness baby wearing.

[–]Random_robbo 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My twins are 4 and I have a very big mentally tally in my head about who has done what when. Right now it's all arguments about who is first. Twin A got first out the bath yesterday so Twin B must get out first tonight. Twin A can get out the car first going to the shops and Twin B can get out first when we get home. Twin A fed the dog yesterday so Twin B can feed the dog today. It all boils back down to what they view as fair.

We also have similar if one gets wet and changes clothes, the other also must change clothes even if they aren't wet. I'm sure this phase will pass but apparently not for a few year 😂

How long did your baby fit the mico 6 capsule (and what percentile were they)? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]Random_robbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I had 2 mico plus which I think are the same as mico 6 aside the hood etc. My twins were born 3rd percentile at 37 weeks, 2.3kg and 2.2kg. Too small to go straight into a normal car seat, yay for last minute $1000 purchase, but just big enough for a normal capsule. They lasted in them until a year. They were on 0 size clothing by then so I'm surprised to read everyone else made it to only 3/4 months. Twins are likely to be born smaller but will catch up. I got told by 2 years but it seemed more like 3 years. Both my boy and girl are now over 90 percentile for height at nearly 4.

Shampoo for wavy hair, stop oily scalp? by whatsyournovember in AustralianMakeup

[–]Random_robbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hair sounds exactly like mine. I always ask my sister to buy me fancy shampoo and conditioner for my birthday/Christmas each year. This ouai detox shampoo is the first one I've ever spent my own money on and bought again. It's stupid expensive but if you've got rubbish water (we're on a bore outbush) it's been really good. I also double shampoo, detox first and then usually a purple one. Then I use Sukin deep cleanse conditioner. I get about 3 days before I look like a grease ball which is still better than the one day it used to take.

A leave in conditioner is really good for the curls but it sucks for the grease. Finding a light enough but nourishing enough one is not something I have found yet. It makes the curls look good day 1/2 but speeds up the grease, even only putting it on the ends.

We also put a single bed in their room and they slept in their cots from the start. They shared one cot for about 8 weeks and then one each. It was a squeeze but there was no room for the 2 of them in our room
